How to switch the X and O buttons on PS5

If you want to revert the button changes, you can go back to the Settings > Accessibility > Controllers > Custom Button Assignments for DualSense Wireless Controller menu and then turn off the Enable Custom Button Assignments setting.

What to do if you can’t open PlayStation Store on PS5

You can use the PlayStation Store to buy digital games and downloadable content for your PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 5 Digital Edition console. If the app for this online shop isn’t opening properly, then you can take a look at this troubleshooting article from Seeking Tech.

1. For the first step, we recommend checking the status of the PlayStation Network servers, which you can do by visiting this link.

If there appears to be some issues, then we recommend waiting until these problems are fixed on Sony’s end before you try opening the PS Store on your PS5 again.

2. If the servers appear to be fine, then you can try checking out internet connection status.

To do so on your PlayStation 5, you can try going to Settings > Network > Connection Status. From there, you should be able to see if you are successfully connected to the PlayStation Network.

3. You can also try restarting your console by pressing the PS button and then selecting the Power option on the bottom-side menu. In the pop-up menu, you then need to select the Restart PS5 option.

By restarting, you will be able to refresh your connection to PSN. This process may also get rid of glitches that may have caused the PlayStation Store App to not open.

  • To start off, press the PS button to open the control center quick menu and then select the Power option.
  • In the pop-up menu, select Turn Off PS5.
  • After your console has shut down, press and hold the power button located directly on it.
  • Keep holding until you hear a second beep.
  • If done correctly, you should arrive in a screen that asks you to connect a controller to your PS5 via a USB cable.
  • After making the connection, press the PS button on the controller to start using it.
  • You should now be in the main menu of the Safe Mode. Here, you need to select Clear Cache and Rebuild Database.
  • In the next screen, you should first select Clear System Software Cache.
  • Afterwards, you can select Rebuild Database.
  • Once you are done with both actions, restart your PlayStation 5 console and then let it boot up normally.
  • Afterwards, try to open the PlayStation Store again.

What to do if there is no PlayStation Store download button available on PS5

When trying to download and install a game or DLC pack on your PS5 or PS5 Digital Edition console, you may notice that there is no download button on the PlayStation Store. To see how you can potentially fix this option appear, you can take a look at this troubleshooting article from Seeking Tech.

1. To start off, make sure check the current status of the PlayStation Network. You can do so by going to the PSN Status website.

If there appear to be server issues, then we recommend waiting until servers are operating normally again before you try to download the game or DLC.

2. If the servers appear to be fine but there is still no download button, then it may be hidden away in the product page.

To fix this, make sure you select the three dots symbol on the product page. Afterwards, you can select a different option from the small window.

In the new page, you should, hopefully, be able to download the game or DLC pack.

3. If you have multiple PlayStation Network accounts on your PS5, then make sure you are signed into the one that you used to buy or acquire the game or DLC.

4. It is also important to note that if you acquire a game or DLC from PlayStation Plus, then you need to stay subscribe to the service in order to download it.

For games you obtained through the Monthly Games Catalog and PS Plus Collection, you will need to be a member of any of the PlayStation Plus tiers.

For titles from the Game Catalog, you need to stay subbed to the Extra, Deluxe or Premium tiers.

When it comes to the Classics Catalog, you need to stay a member of the PlayStation Plus Deluxe or Premium plans.

5. Instead of downloading from the PlayStation Store App, you can try getting the game from the Your Collection menu by taking the following steps:

  • From the home screen menu, you need to select Game Library, which should the right-most option.
  • In the Game Library menu, press R1 to switch over to the Your Collection tab.

  • Go to the Settings menu of your PS5.
  • From the front page of Settings, you need to select Users and Accounts.

What to do if you can’t buy a game from the PlayStation Store of PS5

When trying to purchase a game or DLC from the PlayStation Store App of your PlayStation 5 or PlayStation 5 Digital Edition console, you may notice that there is no buy option available. To see how you can may the product available for purchase, you can take a look at this troubleshooting guide from Seeking Tech.

1. For the first step, we recommend that you select the three dots icon on the product page.

For some reason or another, Sony decides to hide the purchase options for some products in the small window menu that pops up when you select the three dots icon. This is especially true in the following scenarios:

  • Multiple editions of the same game are available.
  • The game was previously acquired through the PlayStation Plus subscription service.
  • Some games may not be available for purchase as they can only be played with a specific PS Plus tier.

In the small window menu, you may see the following:

  • View Product.
  • A price listing.
  • A different edition.
  • A different version.

After selecting any of the aforementioned options in the small window, you should then be able to purchase the game on the next page.

To see how you can buy a game you previously acquired from PlayStation Plus, you can check out this tutorial.

2. If you seeing the option to download instead of a price listing, then it could mean the following:

  • The game is free-to-play and, thus, does not need to be bought.
  • You already bought the game previously on your PlayStation Network account.

For the latter, you can check your purchase history by backing out to the front page of the PlayStation Store App and then selecting the three dots icon located on the top right side. In the small pop-up menu, you can then select Transaction History.

3. Restarting your PS5 console may also help as doing so should refresh your PSN connection as well as potentially clear out any temporary glitches that may have caused the PlayStation Store listing to not display any buying options.

There is also a possibility that the PlayStation Store servers are currently down. To check, you can visit the official PlayStation website.

If the servers aren’t working, then we recommend trying to buy the game or DLC pack again at a later time when they are back to running normally.

5. You can also try buying the same product from the official PlayStation Store website on a web browser instead.

6. Moreover, you can try purchasing through the official PlayStation mobile application.

Is PlayStation Plus Premium worth it?

Sony expanded the PlayStation Plus subscription service in 2022. The most expensive iteration currently available is Premium. So, is this tier worth the extra costs? You can find out in this review article at Seeking Tech.

What comes with PS Plus Premium?

By being a member of PlayStation Plus Premium, you will have access to the following:

Online Multiplayer – While online multiplayer is completely free for games that are free-to-play, you need to subscribe to any of the PS Plus tiers (including Premium) in order to pay multiplayer modes for other titles.

Cloud Save Back Ups – Unlike PS4 games, you won’t be able to back up the save files of PS5 titles by using an USB storage drive. Instead, you need to subscribe to any of the PlayStation Plus plans in order to back up these saved data to cloud storage.

Game Help – By using this PS Plus feature, you are able to view video clips that will guide you through a particular section.

Share Play – With this exclusive feature, you will be able to play offline multiplayer games online with friends, provided that they are also subscribed to PS Plus. You can also have others take control of your game.

Monthly Games Catalog – Every month, Sony will provide a list containing a handful PS4 and PS5 games that you have full access to playing as long as you stay subscribed to the service.

PlayStation Plus Collection – This is a PS5-exclsuive collection of PlayStation 4 games that you can add to your library. Similar to monthly games, you must remain a member of any of the PlayStation Plus plans in order to play these titles.

Game Catalog – The Game Catalog contain hundreds of PS4 and PS5 games that you can instantly download and play on your console as long as you remain a member of the Extra, Deluxe or Premium tiers.

Classics Catalog – This collection includes retro games that have been remastered or emulated on the PS4 and/or PS5. You must maintain a membership to either the Deluxe or Premium tier in order to keep playing these titles.

Game Trials – This feature allows you to play select games from the very beginning. You should then be able to carry your progress over if you decide to purchase the full game.

Cloud Streaming – Exclusive to the PlayStation Plus Premium is cloud streaming, a feature that will let you play PS3 and PS4 games on your console as well as other devices like PC, tablet and smartphones.

Members Only DLC Packs – If you are a member to any of the PS Plus plans, then you will get access exclusive downloadable content for specific games.

Members Only Discounts – By being a subscriber to any tier, you may also get members-only discounts on digital content sold on the PlayStation Store.

What we like about PlayStation Plus Premium

What we loved most about using the PlayStation Plus Premium is that you will have access to hundreds of PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 games through the Monthly Games Catalog, PlayStation Plus Collection and Game Catalog. If don’t mind not owning games, then you should be able to save a lot of money by subbing to this tier instead of buying each title individually.

While we don’t really use Cloud Streaming, Game Trails, Game Help or Share Play, you may find these features helpful from time to time. Cloud Streaming, if you have the right setup, is especially great if you want to play a game when you don’t have access to your console.

The members only DLC packs and discounts may become beneficial for you at some point as well.

Although we don’t like putting online multiplayer and PS5 save file backups behind a paywall, you will get these benefits too if you decide to become a Premium member.

What we hate about PlayStation Plus Premium

The only problem we have with the PlayStation Plus Premium is the Classics Catalog.

Currently, there is not much being offered that justifies the extra costs. Not to mention that PS3 games are limited to streaming, which results in lower image quality and higher input lag when compared to playing the same titles on the original hardware.

Should you get PlayStation Plus Premium?

We recommend getting PlayStation Plus Premium if you enjoy playing classic games. With that said, the current lineup for the Classics Catalog is underwhelming, especially when you consider the abundance of quality games came out for the PS1, PS2, PSP and PS3. Hopefully, this catalog will improve over time as Sony gets better at adding new classics to the service.

With that said, Premium is the only tier that also offers Game Trials and Cloud Streaming. If you are interested in either, or both, of these features, then this tier may be worth it even with the lackluster retro games lineup.

Otherwise, you may want to get PlayStation Plus Extra instead as you will get all of the same benefits aside from the Classics Catalog, Game Trials and Cloud Streaming.

PlayStation Plus Premium or PlayStation Plus Essential?

When compared to PlayStation Plus Essential, the Premium Plus comes with the following additions: Game Catalog, Classics Catalog, Game Trials and Cloud Streaming.

For us, the biggest selling point for the more expensive Premium tier is Game Catalog, which grants you access to hundreds of more games aside from those you get from the Monthly Games Catalog and PS Plus Collection.

Therefore, it may be worth upgrading from Essential to Premium.

PlayStation Plus Premium or PlayStation Plus Extra?

As we stated above, the Classics Catalog, Game Trials and Cloud Streaming benefits are exclusive to Premium.

With PlayStation Plus Extra, however, you still get the Monthly Games Catalog and PS Plus Collection to go along with the Game Catalog. If you don’t mind missing out on retro games as well as the other Premium-only features, then the Extra tier is an excellent alternative.

PlayStation Plus Premium or PlayStation Plus Deluxe?

PlayStation Plus Deluxe comes with everything from the Premium tier with the exception of Cloud Streaming. Depending on your country, you will only get one of these two tiers.

If you don’t want to jump through some hoops, we recommend that you stick with the highest tier from your region.

How to get a discount for PlayStation Plus Essential, Extra, Deluxe and Premium

In 2022, Sony expanded the PlayStation Plus service into four different tiers as you are able to pick between Essential, Extra, Deluxe or Premium. While the Essential plan remains the same price as the original, the other three versions are more expensive.

To see how you can get a good deal on these subscriptions, you can take a look at this guide from Seeking Tech.

Direct Deals

If you are looking for direct deals for PlayStation Plus Essential, Extra, Deluxe or Premium, then the only way to do so is to wait for a sales promotion from the PlayStation Store. This is because you are no longer able to purchase a subscription from a third-party seller or retailer.

In general, Sony will discount the PlayStation Plus plans during its Days of Play sale, which usually occurs during May or June. These subscriptions should also be on sale in November and December, during the Black Friday, Cyber Monday, Holiday and End of Year sales promotions.

If you want the best discounts for the PS Plus Essential, Extra, Deluxe or Premium subscriptions, then you need to wait for these sales from the PlayStation Stores.

To keep on updates as to when these discounts are available, we recommend that you occasionally check the official PlayStation blog during the aforementioned months.

Indirect Deals

If you are looking for an indirect way to get a discount for PlayStation Plus Essential, Extra, Deluxe or Premium, then the only way to do so is by getting discounted PlayStation Store Gift Cards and PlayStation Plus Wallet Funds.

Both of these cards, which can be bought as digital voucher codes as well as physical forms, will add funds to the digital wallets of your PlayStation Network account. The added funds can then be used to purchase a PS Plus Essential, Extra, Deluxe or Premium plan.

Therefore, if you can get PlayStation Store Gift Cards or PlayStation Plus Wallet Funds at lower than MSRP, then you should be able to purchase a subscription at an indirectly lowered price point.

With that said, these cards rarely go on sale. Even if you find one discounted, it is usually not as much as the direct discounts for the PS Plus tiers you find during the aforementioned PlayStation Store sales. Therefore, you are better off waiting for the direct deals instead.

What to do if the Disney Plus PS5 App isn’t showing any captions or subtitles

You are able to watch videos from the Disney Plus App with captions and subtitles on your PlayStation 5 or PlayStation 5 Digital Edition console. If these texts aren’t showing up at all, then you can take a look at this troubleshooting article from Seeking Tech.

1. For the first step, make sure that you properly enable subtitles for the video you are currently watching. In order to do so, you can try taking the following steps:

  • Open the Disney+ App on your PS5.
  • Inside, the video streaming application, start playing a video that you want to watch subtitles with.
  • While the video is playing, press the X button on the controller in order to pause it and bring up an overlay menu.
  • In the overlay menu, move the cursor down and to the right.
  • Afterwards, select the Settings option.

  • You should now see a menu appear at the top that shows Audio and Subtitles. Here, you need to move to the Subtitles tab.
  • On the Subtitles tab, select the language of the text that you want to appear in the video.
  • By enabling subtitles on one video, the change should be applied to all the other videos on the Disney Plus PS5 App as well.

2. If you are sure that you enabled captions and subtitles correctly but they are not showing up, then you can try exiting out of the video and then start playing it again.

3. You can also try toggling the subtitles for the video on and off.

4. Of course, you can also try restarting the application as a bug may be preventing the subs from showing.

In order to do so, press and hold the PS button on the controller. Afterwards, move the cursor over to the Disney+ icon and then press the Options button on the gamepad. In the pop-up window, you then need to choose the Close App option.

After closing the application, open it again and then try watching the same video to see if a restart fixes the subtitles.

5. You can try updating the application as well to see if a new update will help with the caption glitches.

To find out how to do so, you can follow the steps from this tutorial.

6. If you haven’t done so already, try to watch other videos on Disney Plus to see if you can get subtitles to appear there.

If the other videos are working correctly with captions, then you can try reporting the problematic video to Disney so that they may fix the subtitles in the future.

It is important to note that not all videos from Disney Plus supports the same languages when it comes to captions and subtitles. Therefore, you may end up getting subtitles for one video but not the other.

How to sign out of the Disney Plus PS5 App

By default, you will remain signed into your DIsney Plus account if you are using its official application on the PlayStation 5 or PlayStation 5 Digital Edition. • Once you get to the home menu, you need to be in the Media tab. If you are in the Games tab instead, then you can simply press R1 on the controller to switch over.
  • Finally, open the Disney+ App from the Media tab.

6. You should then see the following message:

  • “Are you sure you want to log out?”

Here, you need to select the Log Out option in order to sign out of your account.

Alternate Method

An alternate way to sign out of your Disney Plus account on your PlayStation 5 or PlayStation 5 Digital Edition is by simply deleting the application. You can do so by taking the following steps:

1. Go back to the home screen menu of your PS5.

2. Next, make sure you are in the Media tab.

3. You then need to move the cursor over to the Disney+ icon.

4. Afterwards, press the Options button on the controller. This button has the three horizontal lines symbol if you have a hard time finding it.

5. You should then see a pop-up window menu, where you can select the Delete option.

6. The following message should appear:

  • “This item will be deleted from console storage.”

Here, you need to select the OK option to continue.

By deleting the app from your PS5, you should be signed out of your Disney Plus account. If you decide to download and install the same application again, you will need to log back in again as a result.
