When you are using a gamepad, the default controller layout should be the following in Redfall:

The Xbox Elite Wireless Controller Series 2 features four back buttons that you can utilize in order to improve your performance for this title.

We recommend assigning the Left Analog Stick Button to the P4 Paddle so that you can sprint without having to press down on the left analog. As a result, you should move more accurately when running.

You should also assign the Right Analog Stick Button to the P2 Paddle so that you can avoid having to awkwardly press down on the right analog to initiate a melee attack.

You can assign the remaining two paddles to any other buttons. We personally use the other two for healing and turning on the flashlight as doing so will let us keep our left thumb on the left analog stick.

Trigger Locks

If you want the ADS and firing triggers to be super responsive, then you should move the trigger sliders located on the back side of your Xbox Elite Wireless Controller Series 2 all the way down.

You can also use Triggers section of the controller’s settings menu to adjust the deadzones of the LT and RT buttons.

Stick Deadzones

While you currently can’t adjust the deadzones of the left and right analog stick by using the in-game menus in Redfall, you can do so by using the Left Stick and Right Stick menus if you look through the settings of your Xbox Elite Wireless Controller Series 2.

We recommend that you play around with different settings, especially when aiming with your weapons by using the right analog, until it feels responsive and natural.

Redfall is an open world first-person shooting game that features a day night cycle. 1. If you are playing the game with HDR enabled, then you should make sure that your television screen or monitor is properly calibrated with your PC or Xbox.

2. Of course, you can also use the in-game menu of Redfall to adjust the brightness and contrast levels. You can do so by taking the following steps:

• First off, you should go to the Settings menu inside of the game. You can do so by pressing the Menu button on the controller in the main menu before you load into your save file. Afterwards, head into Settings from the System menu.
• If you already loaded into your save, then you can press the Menu button during gameplay to bring up the pause screen. From there, use the LB and RB buttons to change tabs until you get to Settings.
• From the Settings menu, you need to select Video.
• In the Video section, select the Adjust option on the Calibrate Display row.
• Inside of the Calibrate Display menu, you will be able to adjust the HDR Brightness and HDR Contrast sliders. By default, both of these have a value of 0. You are able to change them, in increments of 1, from a range of –50 to +50.

Depending on some of the areas in your game, as well we your ambient room lighting, you may need to return to the Calibrate Display menu often in order to re-adjust the in-game brightness and contrast levels.

3. If you are still experiencing brightness issues, then you can try playing Redfall on a different screen. Some TVs and monitors are better than others when it comes to outputting accurate HDR. If you can’t change the screen, then you can try adjusting the brightness and contrast using the setting menus of your TV or monitor.

1. For the first step, we recommend checking the server status of this online cooperative game. You can do so from the official Bethesda website.

If there appears to be an issue with the servers, then you won’t be able to play Redfall until the problem gets fixed on the other end.

2. If the servers are fully operational, then the next step you can take is to see if there is a new patch available to download and install for Redfall.

For the Xbox Series X or Xbox Series S, you can manually update the game by moving the cursor over to its icon from either the Xbox Guide quick menu or the home screen of the dashboard. Afterwards, press the Menu button on the Xbox controller and then select “Manage game and add-ons. Lastly, you need to select Updates from the Manage – Redfall menu.

3. You should also make sure that your network settings are compatible with this game.

If you are playing on the Series X or Series S, then you can open the Settings menu of the console and then head over to General > Network settings > Test multiplayer connection. If there is a problem with how your internet is set up, then the console will provide some directions that you can follow to fix it.

4. If you are still getting the hosting failed to host lobby error, then you can try restarting Redfall. To do so on console, press the Xbox button on the controller, move the cursor over to the game’s icon, press the Menu button and then select Quit.

• Turn off your PC or Xbox.
• You should also turn off your modem, router and other networking equipment.
• Wait for at least 2 minutes.
• You then need to turn back on your modem, router and other networking equipment.
• Wait for your internet service to go back online.
• Turn on your PC or Xbox.
• Boot up Redfall and then try to host a game.

1. For the first step, you need to head over to the Settings menu in Redfall.

If you haven’t load into your character save and are still in the main menu, then you can press the Menu button on the Xbox controller and then select the Settings option from the System menu.

If you already loaded into your character save, then you can bring up the in-game menu by pressing the Menu button. Afterwards, use the LB and RB buttons until you get to Settings.

2. Once you open the Settings menu, you need to select Gameplay.

3. From the Gameplay section, scroll down to the User Interface section.

4. You should be able to locate In-Game Tutorials from there. This setting has the following description:

• “Toggle whether tutorials will display in game or not.”

5. By default, the In-Game Tutorials setting is set to On. To disable these messages, you need to move the cursor to the right and then change it to Off.

6. Once you turn off the In-Game Tutorials, you need to back out of the Settings menu.

7. When you resume your progress in Redfall, you should no longer see any tutorials pop-up during your gameplay sessions.

1. For the first step, we recommend that you head over to the Settings menu in Redfall and then select Accessibility.

From there, scroll down and move the cursor to Accessibility Reticle, which should show the following description:

• “If enabled, a reticle will be displayed at all times.”

• By default, the field of view for Redfall is set to 90 degrees. You will be able to adjust the slider, in increments of 1 degree, from a range of 60 degrees to 120 degrees.
• We suggest that you play around with different FoV angles until you find one that doesn’t give you motion sickness. Keep in mind that increasing this setting to above 90 degrees have cause frame rate issues.

3. The motion blur can trigger your nausea. If you want to turn this feature off, then you need to go back to the Video section in the Settings menu. From there, you need to set the Motion Blur Scale setting to Off.

4. The camera movement in Redfall is unnaturally slow when you are trying to aim your weapon, especially if you are playing with a controller. As a result, the image you see on the screen is disassociated with the aiming movement on your mind, resulting in potential motion sickness.

5. You should try to play Redfall at the highest potential frame rate as the extra smoothness may help ward off your nausea.

At launch, this game is limited to running at a maximum of 30 frames per second on the Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S. However, the development team at Arkane Studios has promised that the title will be getting a performance mode that targets 60 fps in the future.

4. Make sure that the Screen Narration setting is set to Off.

5. While you are in the Communication section of the Accessibility screen, you should move the cursor down to Text-To-Speech, which shows the following information:

• “Converts typed text to narrated speech.”

6. Make sure that the Text-To-Speech is set to Off.

7. Once you are done making the changes, you need to exit the Settings menu.

8. When backing out, you should see the following message:

• “Confirm Changes. Would you like to keep these settings?”

Here, you need to select the “Yes, I’m Sure” option before the timer runs out. Otherwise, you need to repeat the aforementioned steps all over again.

What to do if the narrator isn’t turning off?

If you turned off the narrator from the menu in Redfall but you are still hearing a voice read off the text that appears on the screen, then you can try doing the following:

1. Go back to the Communication section of the Accessibility screen and make sure that the Screen Narration and Text-To-Speech are both disabled.

2. If you are currently playing the game, then you can try quitting the game and then reload your save file from the title screen.

3. You can also try restarting the video game.

On the Xbox Series X or Xbox Series S gaming systems, you need to quit Redfall from the Xbox Guide menu. Afterwards, you can open the game from the home screen of the dashboard in order to restart.

Before you can play Redfall, you need to log into your Bethesda account. Otherwise, you will be stuck in the title screen. When trying to do so, you may get the 40901 error code that shows the following message:

• “This Bethesda.net account is already linked.”

1. For the first step, we recommend that you check your linked accounts.

In order to do so, you need to visit the official Bethesda website from a web browser and then log into your Bethesda account. Afterwards, select your profile from the top right side of the screen and then Linked Accounts in the drop-down menu.

In the Linked Account screen, you should see the external accounts that are currently linked to your Bethesda account. Make sure that the Xbox Live or Steam account you are using to play the game is correctly listed here.

If your Bethesda account is tied to a different Xbox Live or Steam account, then you need to switch over to that account on your Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S or Steam system before trying to play Redfall.

If you would like to change the Xbox Live or Steam account that is linked to the Bethesda account, then you need to submit a ticket from the official Bethesda website in order to get a customer service representative to unlink your existing external account first. Afterwards, you will be able to link your new Xbox Live or Steam account.

2. If the accounts are correctly linked but you still aren’t able to log in to Redfall without getting the 40901 error code, then you should make sure that your Bethesda account is verified.

In order to do so, go to the official Bethesda website and then select Log In / Sign Up. In the pop-up window, you need to select “Help find my account” and then enter the email address you used to sign up for your Bethesda account.

You should then get an email where you can click the Verify Account link.

3. If none of the aforementioned solutions have worked so far, then you can try creating a new Bethesda account by using a different email address to see if you are able to log in successfully and then play Redfall.
