How to enable 1080p/120Hz support for MSI Monitors on PS5

If you have a compatible MSI monitor and want to enable 120 frames per second on your PlayStation 5/PlayStation 5 Digital Edition system, you can take the following steps:

1. From the Home Screen main menu, go to “Settings.” This option is located on the top right side of the screen with a gear symbol.

2. In the “Settings” menu, select the “Saved Data and Game/App Settings” option.

3. In the “Saved Data and Game/App Settings” menu, select “Game Presets” from the tab of the left side.

4. In “Game Presets,” select “Performance Mode or Resolution Mode.”

5. Change the “Performance Mode or Resolution Mode” setting to “Performance” mode.

If you have a compatible MSI monitor and want to enable 120 frames per second on your Xbox Series X/Xbox Series S, you can take the following steps:

1. From the main system menu, select “Settings,” which uses the gear symbol.

2. In the “Settings” menu, select “General” on the left tab and then “TV & display options.”

3. On the “Display” column, select “Resolution” to bring up a drop-down menu. From there, select “1080p.”

4. Afterwards, select “Refresh rate” from the “Display” column to open a drop-down menu. From there, select “120 Hz.”

5. If you already have the game that supports 120 frames per second currently running, you may have to close and restart the software for the new visual settings to take into effect.

How to setup 1080p/120Hz support for PS5 and Xbox Series X/S on MSI Monitor

Your compatible MSI Monitor will automatically detect the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X or Xbox Series S when the console is connected to the display. It will then use console mode without any manual input on your end.

The V-Series 2020 comes with 3 HDMI ports, all of which are 2.0.

Antenna Input

The 2020 version of the V-Series also includes antenna input where you can directly connect retro consoles like the Sega Genesis, Nintendo Entertainment System and Super Nintendo Entertainment System.

Vizio V-Series 2020’s Supported HDR Features

The Vizio V-Series supports HDR10, HDR10+ and Dolby Vision. However, the television set does not support a wide color gamut.

If you haven’t heard already, the Xbox Series S and Xbox Series X use Dolby Vision for games.

Vizio V-Series 2020’s HDR Capabilities

The Vizio V-Series 2020 is very dim for an HDR-capable television set.

We recommend screens with brightness levels of at least 500cd/m² to really showcase the advantages of HDR. Unfortunately, the new V-Series comes nowhere close to reaching that level.

According to tests done by RTINGS.com, the TV can only reach 199 cd/m² at HDR Real Scene Peak Brightness, 211 cd/m² at HDR Peak 100% Window and 210 cd/m² at HDR Sustained 100% Window.

Native Refresh Rate

The 2020 model of the Vizio V-Series has a native refresh rate of 60 Hz, which means that it can play video games at up to 60 frames per second.

FreeSync, G-Sync and Variable Refresh Rate Support

This television set does not support FreeSync, G-Sync or Variable Refresh Rate. These features are designed to make games look smoother and get rid of screen tearing.

PCs with AMD graphics cards use FreeSync while PCs with NVIDIA graphics cards use G-SYNC.

The PS5, Xbox Series S and Xbox Series X use Variable Refresh Rate.

Vizio V-Series 2020’s Input Lag

The Vizio V-Series 2020 does have excellent input lag when game mode is activated.

According to RTINGS, the TV has latency of 10.6 ms at 1080p/60Hz and 4K/60Hz, 10.7ms at 1440p/60Hz, 11.3 ms at 4K/60Hz/HDR and 10.5 ms at 4K/60Hz/4:4:4.

All of these are way below our upper limit recommendation of 30 ms in order to get a good responsive gameplay experience.

Is the Vizio V-Series 2020 good for PS5, Xbox Series S and Xbox Series X?

The Vizio V-Series 2020 is not a good television set for the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series S and Xbox Series X due to the lack of HDMI 2.1 ports, missing wide color gamut support and dimmed HDR brightness levels.

Is the Vizio V-Series 2020 good for Switch, PS4, and Xbox One?

TCL 5 S535’s HDR Capabilities

In terms of high dynamic range features, the S535 version of the TCL 5 supports a wide color gamut, HDR10 as well as Dolby Vision (both the Xbox Series S and Xbox Series X will be using Dolby Vision).

TCL 5 S535’s Input Lag

The TCL 5 S535 has excellent input lag reduction when you used its game mode.

According to RTINGS.com, the lag is just 11.2 ms at 1080p/60Hz, 10.9 at 1440p/60Hz in addition to 10.8 ms at 4K/60Hz and 4K/60hz/HDR.
