Before picking a wall mount for your TU-7000, you need to consider three factors: the weight, dimensions and VESA of your set.

The weight of your Samsung 2020 TV is important as the mounting brackets have a capacity limit. The dimensions are also essential as you want to know that you have enough space on your wall (you should also leave some extra room if you are planning to tilt and/or swivel your television). VESA is the industry standard of measuring the four mounting holes located on the back of the TV, so it is another key metric.

Is the Samsung TU7000 a suitable TV for the PS5, Xbox Series X and other gaming systems?

The TU7000 Crystal 4K UHD HDR Smart is one of several TVs released by Samsung in 2020. So, how does this television fare as a gaming TV for the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X and other video game systems?

You can find out in this guide at Seeking Tech.

Quick Summary

The TU7000 is not a good television set if you are planning to get the most out of PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X videogames. For one, the TV lacks HDMI 2.1 ports, which are required for features like 120 frames per second and variable refresh rate.

It is also very lacking when it comes to HDR peak brightness and does not support wide color gamut. As a result, HDR games will look very poor on the display.

The TU7000 is very good a reducing input lag, making it great for non-HDR games on the PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Wii U, Nintendo Switch, Xbox 360 and Xbox One.

For older consoles, the TV does not support composite input, so you will need a composite-to-HDMI converter. It does include a tuner for retro systems, however.

Does the TU7000 come with HDMI 2.1 ports?

The Samsung TU7000 comes with two HDMI ports. Unfortunately, none of them are version 2.1 (instead, both are 2.0). As a result, the TV won’t be able to take advantage of features such as 120 frames per second and variable refresh rate on supported PS5 and Xbox Series X videogames.

TU7000’s HDR Capabilities

The Samsung TU7000 Crystal TV supports HDR and HDR10+ contents. It is not compatible with Dolby Vision. It also does not use a wide color gamut.

In terms of brightness, the TU7000 has very poor performance. According to tests done by RTINGS.com, the television set can only reach 248 nits at HDR Real Scene Peak Brightness, 267 nits at HDR Peak 100% Window and 267 nits at HDR Sustained 100% Window. Is the TU7000 good for PS5 and Xbox Series X?

The Samsung TU7000 is a poor choice for playing PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X video games. Not only does it lack any HDMI 2.1 ports, the TV also has very poor high dynamic range peak brightness.

If you want to stay within the Samsung brand and still want to get the most of the two next-generation consoles, we recommend getting the Samsung QLED Q90T instead.

Is the TU7000 good for Switch, PS4, and Xbox One?

The Samsung TU7000 television is a good budget set for older HDMI consoles, which includes the Wii U, Switch, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360 and Xbox One.

As we stated above, the TV’s poor HDR performance means that HDR-enabled games on the PS4, PS4 Pro, Xbox One S and Xbox One X will look poor. So we recommend looking elsewhere if you want to play video games with HDR.

Legacy Consoles Support

The Samsung TU7000 Crystal 4K Ultra HD HDR Smart TV Series does not come with any composite inputs. As a result, you won’t be able to directly consoles that uses the red, white and yellow plugs unless you have a composite-to-HDMI converter. These systems includes the Ps1, PS2, Nintendo 64, Gamecube and Xbox.

Samsung did include a cable/antenna tuner for the TU7000. So you can directly connect retro consoles like the NES, Super NES and Sega Genesis.
