If your game supports 120fps, then you have to enable the 120Hz refresh rate through the system menu of the Xbox Series S or Xbox Series S. The process is a little different depending on the model of the BenQ Zowie monitor.
Enabling Xbox Series X/S 120Hz support for XL2411K, XL2540K, XL2546K and XL2546S
You need to take the following steps in order to enable 120 Hz support on the Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S for the XL2411K, XL2540K, XL2546K and XL2546S:
On the main system menu, go to “Settings,” which has the gear icon.
In the “Settings” menu, select “General” on the left side of the screen and then the “TV & display options” on the right side.
In the new “General TV & display options” menu, select the “Refresh rate” setting under Display.

5. In the new “Override your TV’s recommend settings?” message, select “Use Manual Settings.” The screen will then refresh itself.
6. Go back to the aforementioned “General TV & display options” menu and change the “Resolution” setting under Display to 1080p.
7. The screen will refresh itself and then display the “Keep this resolution?” message. Choose the “Yes” option to confirm the resolution change.
8. Afterwards, change the “Refresh Rate” setting under Display to 120 Hz.
9. The monitor will then refresh itself and display the “Keep this refresh rate?” message. Select the “Yes” option before the timer runs out to confirm the change.
How to check if the Xbox Series S/X game is running at 120 FPS on a Zowie Monitor
To check if your Xbox Series S or Xbox Series X game is running at 120 frames per second on a BenQ Zowie Monitor, you need to use the buttons on the monitor to open the on-screen display menu. Quick Summary

The Hisense R6090G performs very poorly when it comes to HDR brightness. According to the tests done by RTINGS, the entry level television set can only reach 263 cd/m² at Real Scene Peak Brightness, 311 cd/m² at HDR Peak 100% Window and 310 cd/m² at HDR Sustained 100% Window. These and other scenes tested fall way below our recommend HDR brightness level of at least 500 cd/m² if you want a quality HDR picture.

Native Refresh Rate
The 2020 Hisense R6 Roku television set has a native refresh rate of 60 Hz, which means that it can display games at up to 60 frames per second.
So, even if you are playing a PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X or Xbox Series S game that supports 120 frames per second, this TV will only display the video at 60 fps.
FreeSync, GSYNC and VRR Support
The R6090G does not support FreeSync, GSYNC or Variable Refresh Rate (VRR). These features will smooth out the frame rate and remove screen tearing in games that run at an inconsistent frame rate.
VRR is currently support by the Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S. The same feature will be added to the PlayStation 5 in a future firmware update.
Hisense R6090G’s Input Lag
When its game mode is enabled, the Hisense R6 2020 television offers low input lag. According to RTINGS’ tests, the latency is just 12.5 ms at 1080p/60Hz, 29.3 ms at 1440p/60Hz, 12.7 ms at 4K/60Hz and 12.7 ms at 4K/60Hz/HDR. All of these falls below the upper limit of 30 ms, when it comes to input delay, if you want a responsive gaming experience.
The 4K/60Hz/HDR setting will mainly be used by the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X. The 1080p/60Hz and 1440p/60Hz settings will mainly be used by the Xbox Series S.

Is the Hisense R6090G good for PS5, Xbox Series S and Xbox Series X?
The Hisense R6090G doesn’t really take advantage of the new videogame consoles as the TV lacks support for HDMI 2.1, wide color gamut, variable refresh rate and 120 frames per second. The television set also has poor HDR brightness levels.

The Odyssey G5 does not come with any HDMI 2.1 ports. Instead, the monitor includes a single HDMI 2.0 port.
Native Refresh Rate
The Samsung monitor has a native refresh rate of 144 Hz, which means that it can play games at up to 144 frames per second.
The maximum frame rate is 120 frames per second for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S games.
Maximum Resolution
The G5 has a maximum resolution of 1440p.
Supported Resolutions for PS5, Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S
Currently, the PlayStation 5 does not support 1440p although Sony could add compatibility via a future firmware update. As we mentioned above, the G5 is not a 4K monitor; not to mention that it also won’t downscale a 4K video to 1440p. As a result, you are limited to playing PS5 games in 1080p.
With the Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S, you can play games in 1080p and 1440p.
FreeSync, G-Sync and Variable Refresh Rate Support
The Samsung Odyssey G5 supports FreeSync, G-Sync and Variable Refresh Rate. These features will smooth out frame rates and reduce screen tears.
Variable Refresh Rate, or VRR, is currently supported by the Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S while Sony will be adding compatibility to the PlayStation 5 in a future firmware update.
Samsung Odyssey G5’s Input Lag
According to RTINGS, the Odyssey G5 Curved Monitor has extremely low input lag at 1440p, with variable refresh rate enabled and with black frame insertion.
The latency is more noticeable at 1440p/60Hz and with 10-bit HDR. With that said, the lag still falls below our recommended upper limit of 30 ms for a responsive gaming experience.

Dolby Vision, HDR10, HDR10+ and Wide Color Gamut Support
While the Samsung G5 Odyssey Curved Gaming Monitor supports HDR10, it does not support HDR10+, Dolby Vision or Wide Color Gamut.
The PS5, Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S utilizes HDR10. The new Xbox Series consoles will also utilize Dolby Vision in a future firmware update.
Samsung Odyssey G5’s HDR Capabilities
According to RTINGS, the Odyssey G5 has low HDR brightness levels as it can only reach 298 cd/m² at HDR Real Scene Peak Brightness in addition to 297 cd/m² at both HDR Peak 100% Window: 297 cd/m² and HDR Sustained 100% Window: 297 cd/m².
To really highlight HDR, you need a television set that can display at least 500 cd/m². The G5 falls way below that recommended brightness level.

Is the Samsung Odyssey G5 good for PS5, Xbox Series S and Xbox Series X?
The Samsung Odyssey G5 is a pretty good curved gaming monitor if you want to play PlayStation 5 games at 120 frames per second in 1080p as well as Xbox Series X and S games at 120 frames per second in 1080p/1440p.
The screen also supports variable refresh rate and has low input lag.
The Odyssey G5 does struggle with HDR, however, as it does not support Dolby Vision and lack a wide color gamut. The HDR brightness levels are also very poor.
The maximum resolution for the G5 is 1440p although you can downscale 4K video signals to 1440p for better image quality.
So, for gaming on HDR, you are better off looking for another gaming monitor.
Is the Samsung Odyssey G5 good for Switch, PS4, and Xbox One?
Thanks to the low input lag, the Samsung Odyssey G5 is a great monitor for older HDMI consoles like the PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Wii U, Nintendo Switch, Xbox 360 and Xbox One.
As we stated above, this isn’t a great HDR monitor. So, it struggles at displaying games that support this display feature on consoles such as the PS4, PS4 Pro, Xbox One S and Xbox One X.
