DualSense Edge settings for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II and Warzone 2.0

The DualSense Edge is a new premium controller created by Sony. To see what are the best settings for the gamepad when it comes to playing Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II and Call of Duty: Warzone 2.0 on your PlayStation 5 console, you can take a look at this guide from Seeking Tech.

Analog Caps

When it comes to the analog caps, we recommend going with whatever gives you the best grip. For us, we found that the standard caps work the best.

Keep in mind that you will be able to mix and match between the standard, high dome and low dome caps for the left and right analog sticks.

Back Buttons Attachments

For the back button attachments, we recommend using the levers if you have smaller hands or half domes if you have bigger ones. Or you can do with whichever feels the most comfortable and give you the quickest response.

You can also mix and match for the left and right back buttons.

Trigger Stops

We recommend that you move the trigger stop sliders located on the back of your DualSense Edge all the way to the bottom. By doing so, the controller will be able to register your L2 and R2 buttons quickly.

This will also disable the adaptive trigger effects in the game.

Customize Button Assignments

When customizing your Button Assignments for one of your profiles that is stored on your DualSense Edge, we suggest setting the left back button to L3 and the right back button to R3. You can then disable both the L3 and R3 buttons.

We tend to have problems when it comes to pressing these two buttons. Not to mention that it is very easy to trigger these if you accidentally press down too hard on the left and right analog sticks.

Stick Sensitivity/Deadzone and Trigger Deadzone

You can also use the Stick Sensitivity/Deadzone and Trigger Deadzone menus from your DualSense Edge profile to fine tune the sensitivity of the analog sticks and triggers to your liking.

This may be helpful if you start to notice some drift in the left, right or both analogs.

Using the DualSense Edge as wired controller

We highly recommend that you use the DualSense Edge as a wired controller as it will reduce the input lag.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II and Warzone 2.0 Controller Menu

Next, you can go to the Controller menu from inside Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II and Call of Duty: Warzone 2.0.

From there, we recommend that you turn off Controller Vibration as it can be distracting when it comes to multiplayer matches. In the same menu, you can also change the button layout and add gyro aiming if you prefer using motion to help fine tune your accuracy.

We suggest playing around with all of the available settings in this Controller menu until you find the right combinations to boost your performance in multiplayer.

To see how you can fix these HDR issues, you can take a look at this troubleshooting article from Seeking Tech.

1. To start off, you can make sure that you have the right HDR settings enabled on your game system. In order to do so, you need to do the following:

  • Go to the Settings menu.
  • From Settings, you need to go to General on the left side and then select TV & display options on the right side.
  • Once you are in the General – TV & display options menu, you need to select Video modes.
  • In the General – Video modes menu, make sure you the Allow HDR10 option is enabled. If your TV or monitor supports Dolby Vision, then make sure you enable the Allow Dolby Vision and Dolby Vision for Gaming settings as well.

2. Next, you can try to re-calibrate the HDR brightness output on your Series X or Series S. In order to do so, you can try taking the following steps:

  • Go to Settings > TV & display options.
  • From the General – TV & display options menu, select Calibrate HDR for games.
  • Follow the instructions over the next several screens to calibrate the minimum and maximum luminance of the console’s HDR brightness output.

3. You can also try changing the Allow YCC 4:2:2 setting by going to Settings > TV & display options > Video modes.

Afterwards, test out Modern Warfare 2 or Warzone 2 to see if you can get better HDR colors with this setting enabled or disabled.

4. Furthermore, you can try changing the color depth or color space. In order to do so, you need to do the following:

  • Head over to Settings > TV & display options > Visual fidelity & overscan.
  • From the General – Visual fidelity & overscan menu, you will be able to change the Color Depth and/or Color Space settings.
  • After making a change, make sure you test it out while playing the game to see if you can get better results.

5. If you want to adjust the in-game brightness of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II and/or Call of Duty: Warzone 2.0, then the only way to do so is to uninstall the game launcher from your Xbox Series console and then re-install it again.

When opening the game after a fresh install, you should be able to adjust the HDR brightness level.

6. You can also try adding a color filter by taking the following steps:

  • You should now be able to adjust the World Intensity slider.

After changing the value of the World Intensity slider, test out the new color filter in-game. You can then go back to this menu to make any additional adjustments that you might need.

How to fix Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II and Warzone 2.0 input lag issues on Xbox

You may experience noticeable input delay when playing Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II and Call of Duty: Warzone 2.0 on your Xbox console.

To see how you can reduce latency for these Xbox One, Xbox One S, Xbox One X, Xbox Series S and Xbox Series X games, you can follow the steps laid out in this tutorial at Seeking Tech.

1. The first step you can try is to make sure that your television set has a Game Mode, Game Optimizer Mode or similarly named mode activated.

This is the best picture setting for playing games as it will lower the input lag.

2. You should also make sure that you aren’t using any A.I. processing on your TV screen as these features may add latency.

3. You are able to play Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2 at 120 frames per second on the Xbox Series S and Xbox Series X. By doing so, you will get a much smoother experience that should also result in lower input lag.

To enable this mode, make sure that your television set or monitor supports a 120 Hz refresh rate. Afterwards, you need to go to the Settings menu of your Series S or Series X and then go to General > TV & display options. From the General – TV & display options menu, make sure you change the Refresh Rate setting to 120 Hz.

While enabling 120 Hz will lead to less sharpness and visual fidelity, you should end up getting a faster input response.

4. To further reduce input lag, you should also enable Variable Refresh Rate on your Xbox Series S or Xbox Series X. If your TV or monitor supports this feature, then make sure you turn it on from the screen’s settings menus.

On your Series S or Series X, you then need to go to General > TV & display options > Video modes.

From there, you need to check the “Allow variable refresh rate” box.

5. If you are using a wireless Xbox controller to play Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II and Call of Duty: Warzone 2.0 than we recommend that you plug the gamepad directly into one of the USB ports of your Xbox One, Xbox One S, Xbox One X, Xbox Series S or Xbox Series X console.

This is because a wired connection should lead to a faster response when compared to wireless.

6. The same logic should also apply to the internet connection. So, if possible, we recommend using a wired Ethernet cable to connect your Xbox online instead of using Wi-Fi.

7. It is a good idea that you update the games, your console, your screen, as well as your controller. The new versions may come with improvements when it comes to reducing the input latency.

8. If you are still experiencing a lot of lag, then you can try switching to another television screen or monitor. Some screens are better equipped at reducing latency when compared to others.

How to make it easier to see in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II and Warzone 2.0

You may find it hard to see enemies and other objects when playing Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II and Call of Duty: Warzone 2.0. To see how you can spot things easier in these games, you can take a look at this tutorial from Seeking Tech.

1. To start off, open the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II launcher if you haven’t done so already.

2. Next, you need to press the Menu/Options button while in order to bring up a menu that appears on the right side.

3. You then need to press the R1 or RB button a few times to switch over to the Settings tab.

4. Once you get to the Settings tab, you need to select Graphics.

5. In the Graphics menu, we recommend that you do the following:

  • Enable On-Demand Texture Streaming
  • Disable World Motion Blur
  • Disable Weapon Motion Blur
  • Set Film Grain to 0.00
  • Disable Depth of Field
  • Enable FidelityFX CAS

For FidelityFX CAS, you can change the intensity of the sharpening effects and then test it out in game. You can then make any adjustments in the slider to cater to your preference.

You can also increase the field of view for the first- and third-person perspective in the Graphics menu. By increasing the FoV, you will be able to see more of your surrounding areas.

6. Return to the Settings tab and then select Interface.

7. From the Interface menu, you will be able to change how text is display on the screen.

Furthermore, you will be able to customize the following HUD elements:

  • Mini Map Shape
  • Mini Map Rotation
  • Horizontal Compass
  • Crosshairs
  • Crosshair Bobbing
  • Hit Marker Visuals
  • Damage-Based Hit Markers
  • Player Names
  • Vehicle HUD Prompts

You can also choose to disable tool and gameplay tips in the same menu.

8. Go back to the Settings back once again and then head into Accessibility.

9. From the Accessibility menu, you can add a color filter in order to the World Color Intensity. This may help make it easier to see enemies and other objects in Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2.0.

10. We also recommend that you optimize the HDR output of the game. Otherwise, it may be hard to see in certain scenes.

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II and Call of Duty: Warzone 2.0 do not have any in-game settings where you can adjust its brightness. Therefore, you need to adjust HDR from your PC or game console. You can also try adjusting the brightness of your television screen or gaming monitor.

How to prevent motion sickness in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II and Warzone 2.0

When playing Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II and Call of Duty: Warzone 2.0, you may start getting a little motion sickness. To see how you can reduce some of the visual effects in order to make your dizziness and/or nausea go away, you can follow this tutorial from Seeking Tech.

1. To start off, turn on your PC or console and then open the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 launcher.

2. In the launcher, press the Options/Menu button on your controller to bring up the in-game menu.

3. From the in-game menu, press the RB or R1 button several times to get to the Settings tab.

4. In the Settings tab, select Graphics.

5. After getting to the Graphics menu, we recommend disabling the World Motion Blur and Weapon Motion Blur settings from the Post Processing Effect section.

6. In the same Graphics menu, scroll down to the View section.

From there, you will be able to adjust the Field of View for the first- and third-person perspective. If you are getting motion sickness from the default FoV, then you can try increasing these settings to see if you can handle the wider angle better.

7. From the same View section, we also recommend reducing 1st Person and 3rd Person Camera Movements in order to prevent the camera from shaking too much when you are playing Modern Warfare 2 and/or Warzone 2.

8. Next, you need to return to the Settings tab of the in-game menu and then head to Accessibility.

9. From the Accessibility menu, select All Accessibility Settings.

10. In the next screen, make sure you are in the Display tab.

11. From the Display tab, you should disable the Parallax Effects from the Interface section as doing so will disable the 3D background effects of the menu, which should help with preventing motion sickness. You can also add a Center Dot to the gameplay screen as doing so will help your eyes focus.

12. In the same screen, scroll down to the Graphics section.

While a lot of the settings from the Graphics section are the same as the previous steps, there is also a new ADS Filed of View option that you can link or unlink to your 1st person field of view angle.

13. If your television set or monitor has a 120 Hz refresh rate and/or adaptive sync support, then we recommend enabling these features.

By doing so, you will get a smoother experience when playing Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II and Call of Duty: Warzone 2.0, which should help with your dizziness and/or nausea.

How to fix Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II HDR issues on PS5

When playing Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II on your PlayStation 5 or PlayStation 5 Digital Edition system, you may notice some issues with the HDR output. Some of the scenes may appear to be too dark while others may be blindingly bright. The colors may also appear to be too washed out.

To see how you can fix these HDR problems for Modern Warfare 2, you can take a look at this troubleshooting article from Seeking Tech.

1. The first step you can take is to check your TV or monitor settings.

To start off, make sure that you have HDR enabled on your screen. Furthermore, we recommend turning off any ambient light sensor and energy saving features you have enabled as these may cause your TV or monitor to output at a dimmer brightness level.

2. You should also make sure that you correctly set up your PS5 for HDR output. In order to do so, you need to take the following steps:

  • Start by heading into the Settings menu on your PlayStation 5.
  • From Settings, you need to go to Screen and Video and then select Video Output.
  • You then need to scroll down and select HDR. Afterwards, we recommend setting HDR to On When Supported.
  • Afterwards, go back to the Video Output menu and then select Adjust HDR. Follow the on-screen instructions that appear over the next few screens to calibrated your PS5’s HDR brightness output for your TV or monitor.

3. If the HDR in MWII still appears to be too dark, too bright or washed out, then we recommend changing the RGB range to see if doing so will make a difference.

In order to do so, go back to the Settings > Screen and Video > Video Output menu of your PlayStation 5 and then select RGB Range. Afterwards, select Limited or Full and then test out the new setting in Modern Warfare II.

If the option you chose for the RGB Range did not work, then you can try the alternative.

4. Unfortunately, you can only adjust the HDR brightness setting the first time you boot up Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 on your PlayStation 5 or PlayStation 5 Digital Edition.

If you want to adjust it again, then you need to uninstall the game and then re-install it again. This fresh install process can take a long time as the first-person shooter is easily over 100 GB on the PS5.

5. Alternatively, you can simply use the Accessibility menu in MW2 to adjust the HDR colors. In order to do so, you can take the following steps:

  • Press the options button to bring up the pause menu.
  • In the pause menu, press the R1 button to move over to the Settings tab.
  • From the Settings tab, press the triangle button to head into to Accessibility menu.
  • In the next screen, select All Accessibility Settings.
  • After getting to the Display tab in the new menu, you then need to select Color Customization.
  • Inside the Color Customization menu, you will be able to adjust the colors of the World Color Intensity.

6. If you can’t get HDR to display properly while playing Modern Warfare 2, then you can simply play the game in SDR instead.

To do so, you need to go to the Settings menu of your PS5 and the select Screen and Video > Video Output. From there, make sure you set HDR to Off.

How to fix Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II input lag issues on PS5

When playing Call of Duty: Modern Warfare II on your PlayStation 5 or PlayStation 5 Digital Edition system, you may notice that there is a slight delay between the buttons you are pressing and the corresponding action that appear on the screen. The input lag can be quite damaging, especially when competing with other players online.

To see how you can reduce the input latency when playing Modern Warfare 2 on the PS5, you can take a look at this troubleshooting article from Seeking Tech.

1. Having a slow and unstable internet connection can cause a lot of input lag when playing online matches.

If possible, we recommend using a wired Ethernet connection.

If you can only connect your console to Wi-Fi, then you can try to see if you can get a better wireless connection by moving the console closer to the Wi-Fi access point and then making sure that there aren’t any obstructions.

Solid objects that are blocking the direct line of sight, as well as other wireless devices, may weakened the Wi-Fi connection between the router and your game console.

2. Of course, you should also make sure that you aren’t using your internet bandwidth on something else as downloading, uploading and streaming will most likely add input lag when playing online.

3. Most modern television sets also features a Game Mode. This picture setting is designed for playing video games as it lowers the input lag.

Therefore, you should make sure that you are using this mode in the settings menu of your TV.

4. Using Variable Refresh Rate should also lower the latency when playing Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2.

So, if your television set or monitor support VRR, then make sure that you enable it from the screen’s settings menu. In some cases, turning on Game Mode will also automatically enable Variable Refresh Rate.

Of course, you should also make sure that you have this feature enable on your PS5 as well by doing the following:

  • On the Home menu of your console, select the gear icon on the top right side of the screen so that you can open the Settings menu.
  • In Settings, you first need to select Screen and Video.
  • From the Screen and Video menu, you have to select Video Output on the left side.
  • On the right side of the same screen, you then need to make sure that VRR is set to Automatic.

5. If you don’t mind sacrificing image sharpness, then you can also try playing MWII at a frame rate that is higher than 60. The higher frames per second should improve the responsiveness of the game.

In order to do so, you need a television screen or monitor has a refresh rate of 120 Hz. If you do, then you can enable 120 Hz output on your PlayStation 5 or PlayStation 5 Digital Edition system by doing the following:

  • Go to the Settings menu from the Home screen.
  • From the first page of Settings, head over to Screen and Video.
  • Next, you need to select Video Output from the left column.
  • On the right side of the same screen, you should then set the 120 Hz Output setting to Automatic.

6. If you are still experiencing input delay, then you can try using your DualSense controller as a wired controller, which should help reduce latency.

You can do so by taking the following steps:

  • Connect your DualSense to your PS5 console by using an USB cable.
  • You then need to go to the Settings menu.
  • From there, select Accessories.
  • You should then select Controller (General) on the left column.
  • On the same screen, select Communication Method on the right side.
  • After getting to the Communication Method menu, make sure that you select Use USB Cable.
  • You should now be able to play MW2 by using the DualSense as a wired controller. Keep in mind that the gamepad must stay connected to the PS5 console via the USB cable.

7. If you haven’t done so already, you should make sure that you have the latest patch for the game, as well as the newest firmware for your console, downloaded and installed.

8. You should also make sure that your game console is directly connected to your TV or monitor. This is because a HDMI passthrough device or splitter may add lag to the video output.

9. If possible, you can also try playing the PS5 version of the latest CoD game on a different screen to see if you can get better results.

How to disable crossplay for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 on Xbox Series X and S

Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 supports crossplay, a feature that allows you to play online multiplayer matches with players from other platforms.

While this is great if you have friends that play on different systems, it can also be a detriment as players on other platforms may end up having an unfair advantage. This is especially true when playing against PC gamers as the game is easier to hack on computers.

To see how you can disable crossplay for Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 on Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S consoles, you can take a look at this tutorial from Seeking Tech.

Is there an in-game setting to turn off crossplay for MW2 on Xbox Series X and S?

Unlike the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 versions, there is currently no in-game setting that you can use to disable the crossplay feature on the Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S versions of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2.

With that said, the development team at Infinity Ward could eventually add the feature if there is enough demand (and there are a lot of complaints from the Call of Duty community already). Therefore, you can try contacting them on social media to see if you can get your voices heard. Hopefully, the developer will release a patch that will let you disable this feature.

For now, you have to use the system menus of your console to turn off crossplay multiplayer altogether.
