How to use PayPal Pay Later option when buying games for Xbox

You are now able to use the PayPal Pay Later payment option when purchasing games for your Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, Xbox One X, Xbox One S or Xbox One. To find out how you can do so, you can take a look at this guide from Seeking Tech.

Before we begin, it is important to note that you can’t currently use PayPal Pay Later if you are buying through the Shop App directly on your Xbox console. Instead, you need to use the web browser version of the same digital store.

1. To start off, you need to head over to the Xbox Store website.

2. Next, make sure you are signed into the same Microsoft account that is linked to your Xbox Live account.

3. You can then start adding any games, downloadable content and other digital products for your Xbox console.

Keep in mind that the minimum order for PayPal Pay Later is $30 for bi-weekly payments or $199.99 for monthly payments.

The bi-weekly payments are interest-free. You will need to pay for 25% of the total order immediately and then the other three 25% payments two weeks at a time. This type of payment will work with orders of up to $1,500.

If you decide to go with a monthly payment method, then you will be charged interest. The fixed APR can be anywhere between 9.99% to 35.99% depending on your credit score. During special promotional periods, the rates can be dropped as low as 4.99%. For the monthly payment method, the maximum order limit is $10,000.

Since you are buying games and/or DLC for your Xbox, you will most likely use the bi-weekly payments feature for PayPal Pay Later.

4. Once you are done adding items into the cart, select the shopping cart icon.

5. In the cart, make sure you meet the minimum requirement for PayPal Pay Later, which is $30, for the total amount of the order. You should then select the Checkout option.

6. In the Step 1: Payment section, make sure that the Payment Method is set to PayPal Pay Later or Pay Now.

If it isn’t, select the Change link and then the “Select a different way to pay” link. Afterwards, make sure that the PayPal Pay Later or Pay Now is selected.

7. Go through the rest of the checkout process to purchase the items in the cart and then select the Pay Later option.

8. You can then choose to either Pay in 4 for biweekly payments or Pay Monthly. If you select pay Monthly, then you will be able to pick between a 6-month, 12-month or 24-month payment plan.

How to fix Ubisoft+ and Xbox account linking issues

When trying to link your Ubisoft+ account to your Xbox Live account, you can end up seeing the following error message:

  • “There was an error getting account details. Try again later.”

To see how you can fix this account linking issue, you can take a look at this troubleshooting article from Seeking Tech.

This problem is mostly related to the Ubisoft server. For the uninformed, the company recently launched Ubisoft+ Multi Access, a subscription service that grants you full access to Ubisoft titles on the Xbox One, Xbox One S, Xbox One X, Xbox Series S and Xbox Series X.

As a result of the launch, the servers are getting overloaded. Therefore, you may end up seeing the “there was an error getting account details” error notification when you are trying to link the Ubisoft+ account to your Xbox Live account.

In our case, we are able to get the account link to go through on a second try a few minutes after our first failed attempt.

If you can’t get the accounts to link after trying over and over again, then you can try linking at a less busy period in the day.

If you are in the North American region, for instance, then you can try to go through the process when most everyone else is sleeping on a weekday, such as very late at night or early during the day. With less server load, you should be able to go through with the account linkage.

Of course, you can also wait until Ubisoft announces that the servers are fixed. You can check out the official social media channels such as the official Ubisoft Support Twitter page for any updates.

If you still can’t get the Ubisoft+ account to link up with your Xbox Live account, then we recommend contacting a Ubisoft support agent to see if they are able to manually connect the two accounts on their end.You can open a chat request from this page on the official Ubisoft website.

How to link Ubisoft+ account to Xbox

Ubisoft+ has launched on the Xbox One, Xbox One S, Xbox One X, Xbox Series S and Xbox Series X. This subscription will allow you to play over 100 Ubisoft games, including day one releases, on your console for a monthly fee.

If you are already a member of this service, then you can check out this guide to see how you can link your Ubisoft+ and Xbox Live accounts.

1. Before we begin, it is important to note that you need to be subscribed to Ubisoft+ Multi Access in order to gain access to the Ubisoft Xbox games. The regular Ubisoft+ is only for PC games.

If you need to upgrade, then you need to head over to the My Account Page on the Ubisoft Store. From there, select Change Plan and then select Ubisoft+ Multi Access. Go through the checkout process to complete the upgrade.

To find out more about these two tiers, you can take a look at this Ubisoft Plus comparison article.

2. Once you become an active member of Ubisoft+ Multi Access, turn on your Xbox console and then head over to the Store App.

3. In the Store App, move to the left side until the left edge menu appears.

4. From there, move the cursor to either Home or Games. Afterwards, you need to move right and then select Subscriptions.

5. From the Subscription section, scroll all the way down to the Gaming Subscriptions row and then select Ubisoft+.

6. In the product page of Ubisoft+, select the Join option.

7. You should get a screen saying that you need to log in or create an Ubisoft account.

Here, you can either use your phone to scan the QR code or manually input the URL shown on screen to a web browser on another device.

You can also use the built-in Microst Edge browser on your Xbox.

8. The aforementioned URL should bring you to the Link Your Accounts page. From there, you need to select Link Accounts.

9. If you haven’t done so already, you will need to log into your Ubisoft+ account.

10. After logging into the Ubisoft account, you will be asked to confirm the account link. Select the Complete Link option and you should see the following message:

  • “Success! Your accounts are now linked.”

Once you linked your Ubisoft account with your Xbox account, you should now have full access to the Ubisoft+ games on the Xbox One, Xbox One S, Xbox One X, Xbox Series S and/or Xbox Series X.

To see how you can find the full list of these titles on the subscription service from your console, you can take a look at this walkthrough.

Platforms

If you only have the standard Ubisoft+ membership, then you will be limited to playing PC games. The subscription service currently has well over 100 titles, which includes some indie releases to go along with games that were developed and published by the company.

For the Ubisoft+ Multi Access, you can also play the Amazon Luna and Xbox versions of these games. For the uninformed, Luna is a cloud gaming service that lets you stream games on compatible devices, which includes the following:

  • Windows PC
  • Mac
  • Web Browsers
  • Android 9 or 10 Devices
  • 2nd Generation and Newer Fire TV Stick
  • Fire TV Cube
  • 3rd Generation and Newer Fire TV
  • Toshiba Fire TV Edition
  • Insignia Fire TV Edition
  • 2018 and Newer Fire TV Edition
  • Fire TV 2-Series
  • Fire TV 4-Series
  • Fire TV Omni
  • Fire TV Omni QLED Series

When it comes to Xbox, the Ubisoft+ Multi Access should work on the Xbox One, Xbox One S, Xbox One X, Xbox Series S and Xbox Series X consoles. To see how you can find a list of games on this subscription service on your Xbox, you can check out this step-by-step tutorial.

Day One Releases

Future Ubisoft releases should appear as soon as they launch on the Ubisoft Plus and Ubisoft Plus Multi Access tier.

We found that this is the best reason to subscribe for either of these services as new games tend to cost $59.99 or $69.99 in the U.S. region. By subscribing for a month or two, you can end up saving a lot of money as opposed to outright buying a new title. Not to mention that you will also gain access to over 100 other Ubisoft games as well.

Virtual Currency Pack Discounts

A few Ubisoft games use virtual currency for microtransaction. By being a member of either Ubisoft+ or Ubisoft+ Multi Access, you will get a small 10% discount.

Monthly Rewards

If you stay subscribed in both of these tiers for consecutive months, then you will be able to unlock select rewards in eligible titles.

You will start off with the Bronze tier. If you stay subscribed into a second month, then you will be upgraded to the Silver tier. If you remain a member for four months, then you will level up to the Gold tier. The highest tier is Platinum, which is rewarded to subscribers who stay in the service for at least seven months.

In the Bronze tier, you will get one monthly reward. You will get double that amount if you are in the Silver tier. You will get three monthly rewards in the Gold tier and four monthly rewards if you reach Platinum.

Summary

The main difference between the Ubisoft+ and Ubisoft+ Multi Access membership tiers is the platform availability.

The cheaper Ubisoft+ limits you to only being able to access PC versions of games. With the slightly more expensive Ubisoft+ Multi Access, you will also gain access to the Amazon Luna cloud streaming versions as well as the Xbox versions.

So, if you have an Xbox One console, Xbox Series console and/or would like to play Ubisoft games without a PC, then you should get the Ubisoft+ Multi Access. If you are only planning to play these titles on a computer, then Ubisoft+ is the more affordable option.
