How to fix Redfall menu cursor issues

Navigating the menus in Redfall is rather clunky if you are playing the game with a controller to play the game on a PC, Xbox Series X or Xbox Series S. To see how you can make the navigation feel less laggy, you can take a look at this step-by-step guide from Seeking Tech.

1. To start off, you need to head over to the Settings menu.

You can get there by pressing the Menu button on the Xbox controller on the Main Menu and then selecting Settings from the System menu.

If you are inside the game, then you need to open the in-game menu by pressing the Menu button on the controller. You can then use the LB and RB buttons to change tabs until you get to Settings.

2. In Settings, you need to select Gameplay.

3. Once you get to the Settings – Gameplay menu, scroll down to the User Interface portion.

4. From there, the first step we recommend taking is to disable the Menu Cursor Aim Assist setting, which should have the following description:

  • “When using controller, allows the cursor to snap to the buttons or points of interests.”

We found that the aim assist will often move the cursor on its own, which makes navigating the menus in the game a real chore. Therefore, we highly recommend that you disable this feature.

5. Afterwards, you need to back out of the Settings menu in order for the change to be applied. Once you use the menus in Redfall again, you should no longer see the cursor snapping to any nearby on-screen buttons or other points of interest.

6. If you return to the User Interface portion of the aforementioned Settings – Gameplay menu, you will find the Menu Cursor Friction setting, which has the following description:

  • “When using controller, adjusts the friction of the cursors when near buttons or points of interests.”

The default value for this setting is 0. You will be able to increase it, in increments of 0.1, all the way to 1.3.

7. Also in the same User Interface portion, you will find the Menu Cursor Sensitivity setting, which displays the following description:

  • “When using controller, adjusts the sensitivity of the cursor while in menus.”

By default, this setting is set to 1. You will be able to change it, in increments of 0.1, from a range of 0.5 to 1.5. So, if the cursor seems to have a lot of lag, then you can try increasing this setting.

8. If you decide to make changes to the Menu Cursor Friction and/or Menu Cursor Sensitivity, you need to exit the Settings menu in order to apply your edits.

How to fix Redfall input lag issues on Xbox Series X and S

When playing Redfall on your Xbox Series X or Series S, you may encounter input lag, especially if you are aiming your weapon. To see how you can improve the latency for the first-person shooter, you can take a look at this guide from Seeking Tech.

1. For the first step, we recommend that you enable Game Mode, or something similar, on your television screen if this option is available. This picture setting is designed so that you can play video games, such as Redfall, at the lowest latency possible for the TV screen.

2. You may also want to plug your Xbox controller into one of the USB ports of your Xbox Series X or Xbox Series S console. By doing so, you will be able to use the gamepad over a wired connection, which should reduce the input delay as opposed to using the same controller via wireless communication.

3. Next, we recommend setting the Input Response Preset from the in-game menu of Redfall to Low. You can do so by taking the following steps:

  • Open the Settings menu from either the main menu or pause screen.
  • Once you get to Settings, you need to select Controller.
  • In the Controller section, you should be able to find and select Input Response Preset, which should have the following description: “Controller stick input speed.”
  • Set the Input Response Preset setting to Low.

4. From the same Controller section in the Settings menu of Redfall, you should also find the Controller Sensitivity setting, which should show the following description:

  • “Adjust how fast your controller cursor moves across the screen.”

By default, this setting is set to 2.5. We recommend increasing it until aiming your weapon feels perfectly natural without any noticeable lag. You are able to increase or decrease the sensitivity in increments of 0.25 with the maximum value being 7.

5. You should also make sure that you have the latest patch downloaded for Redfall. If you haven’t heard already, the development team at Arkane Studios mentioned that they will be adding a performance mode to the game, which should increase the frame rate to 60 fps.

When that update eventually goes live, we recommend that you enable the higher frame rate as it should lead to less latency when it comes to controller inputs. Furthermore, if you have Variable Refresh Rate enabled on your TV and Xbox, then this feature should also help with lowering the latency, maintaining the smoothness in performance and getting rid of any potential screen tearing.

You can enable VRR on your Series X or Series S by opening the console’s Settings App and then going to General > TV & display options > Video modes menu.

A new patch may also help fix any general input lag problems.

To manually check if a new update is available, move the cursor over the Redfall icon on the home screen or guide menu of your Xbox console. Afterwards, press the Menu button on your controller and then select the “Manage game and add-ons” option in the pop-up window. You can then select Updates from the Mange – Redfall menu.

How to turn off motion blur in Redfall

When playing Redfall, you may notice that the image quality becomes very blurry when you move the camera around. If you want to get rid of the motion blur in this first-person video game, then you can take a look at this tutorial from Seeking Tech.

1. To start off, you need to head over to the Settings menu.

If you are currently playing the game, then you can bring up the in-game menu by pressing the Menu button on the Xbox controller. From there, press the LB and RB buttons until you switch over to the Settings tab.

Alternatively, you can press the Menu button on the gamepad from the main menu. Once you open the System menu, you should be able to head into Settings from there.

2. From the Settings menu, you need to first select the Video option.

It should be noted that the menus in Redfall use a pointer even if you are using a controller and/or playing on the Xbox Series X/S console. Therefore, you need to move the circle around in order to select an option from the menus.

3. In the Video section, you should find the Motion Blur Scale, which should have the following description:

  • “Whether or not motion blur should be applied to the scene. When enabled, the Post Processing Quality setting affects the overall quality of the effect.”

4. By default, the Motion Blur Scale is set to High.

To change this setting, move the pointer to the right side and then select it. You will be able to switch between the following four options:

  • Off
  • Low
  • Medium
  • High

If you want to keep the motion blur but lower its intensity, then you can set the Motion Blur Scale to either Low or Medium. Otherwise, you can disable this visual effect completely by setting it to Off.

5. Once you are done changing the Motion Blur Scale, you can back out of the Settings menu.

The next time you play Redfall, you should notice less intensive motion blur if you set it to Low or Medium. If you set Motion Blur Scale to Off, then you should no longer see any blurring.

How to fix the ‘Bethesda.net has reported an error’ issue in Redfall

Before you can start playing Redfall on your PC, Xbox Series X or Xbox Series S, you need to sign into your Bethesda account. If you don’t have a current account, then you can create a new one. When you select the Create Account option, you may get the following error message:

  • “Bethesda.net has reported an error. Please try again. If the problem persists, please visit http://help.bethesda.net. Error: 6006.”

To see how you can fix this issue, you can take a look at this troubleshooting article from Seeking Tech.

1. For the first step, you can try to create the account again from within the game. If you are still in the Error screen, then you can select Back or Cancel to return to the login screen. From there, you can then select the Create Account option again.

There is a possibility that the Bethesda servers are experiencing problems at the moment. Therefore, you may need to wait for a little bit before trying to sign up by using the in-game option.

2. Alternatively, you can try signing up from the official Bethesda website by using a web browser. Once you get there, select the Log In / Sign Up option located on the top right side and the Sign Up in the pop-up window.

Once you signed up, make sure you verify your account from the email message that will be sent to you.

Next, you need to go back to the log in screen from within Redfall and then select Login. Input the user name and password you previously entered through the official Bethesda website through a web browser.

You should now be able to log into your Bethesda account and start playing Redfall. The good news is that you should only have to manually log in one time. The next time you need to boot up the game, you should automatically logged into your account.

3. If you still can’t create an account from a web browser, then we suggest visiting the help page from Bethesda website for additional support.

Xbox Elite Wireless Controller Series 2 settings for Star Wars Jedi Survivor

Star Wars Jedi: Survivor can be played with the Xbox Elite Wireless Controller Series 2. To see what settings you should be using for this gamepad when playing the action-adventure game on the PC, Xbox Series X or Xbox Series S, you can take a look at this guide from Seeking Tech.

P1, P2, P3 and P4 Button Assignments

You can find the default Xbox button layout for Jedi Survivor below:

  • Left Analog Stick: Move Character
  • Right Analog Stick: Move Camera
  • Y: Heavy Attack or Special Attack
  • B: Evade or Drop
  • A: Jump
  • X: Attack
  • LB: Parry or Block
  • LT: Force Pull
  • RB: Focus
  • RT: Force Push
  • Left Analog Button: Sprint
  • Right Analog Button: Interact or Target
  • Left Analog Button and Right Analog Button: Force Slow
  • Up Directional Pad Button: Heal
  • Down Directional Pad Button: BD-1 Scan
  • Left Directional Pad Button: Lightsaber Stance 1
  • Right Directional Pad Button: Lightsaber Stance 2
  • RB and Triangle: Lift
  • RB and Circle: Confuse
  • RB and X: Slam
  • RB and Square: Companion Combat Assist
  • Menu: Open Menu
  • View: Map or Shortcut

The Xbox Elite Wireless Controller Series 2 offers four back paddles. In the Mapping menu of the controller, we recommend that you assign the P4 Paddle to the Left Analog Button. By doing so, you can use the back paddle to run instead of pressing down on the left analog stick.

We also recommend assigning the P2 Paddle to the Right Analog Button. This should make it easier to switch targets during combat as you no longer have to press down on the right analog stick.

You can assign the remaining P1 and P3 Paddles to any other buttons you feel like. You can use them to switch lightsaber stances, heal, use BD-1 scan or other actions.

For further customization, you can select the Edit Controls option from the Controller section of the Options menu in Star Wars Jedi Survivor to reassign the buttons to your liking.

Trigger Locks

When it comes to the LT and RT buttons, we suggest that you move the sliders for both all the way to the bottom on the backside of the Xbox Elite Wireless Controller Series 2. This should make the Force Push and Force Pull actions more responsive.

You can further tune the LT and RT buttons from the Triggers menu of the gamepad.

Stick Deadzones

You can also use the Left Stick and Right Stick menus of the Xbox Elite Wireless Controller Series 2 to adjust the deadzones of both analogs if you feel that moving the character and/or looking around feels sluggish.

Furthermore, you can adjust the sensitivity of the right analog stick from the Controls section in the Options menu when you are playing Jedi Survivor.

How to fix Star Wars Jedi Survivor frame rate problems on Xbox Series X

When playing Star Wars Jedi: Survivor on your Xbox Series X, you may notice that the frame rate isn’t as stable as you would like. To see how you can improve the performance of this game running on your console, you can take a look at this troubleshooting article from Seeking Tech.

1. For the first step, we suggest that you update the game if you haven’t done so already. The development team from Respawn Entertainment admitted that the game did not launch at a polished state.

As a result, they should be working hard at optimizing the performance for the Series X as well as the other platforms. Thus, you should make sure you have the latest patch installed.

To manually check if a new title update is available on Xbox, you need move the cursor over to the Jedi Survivor on the home menu of the console. Afterwards, press the Menu button on the controller and then select “Manage game and add-ons” from the pop-up window.

From the Manage – Star Wars Jedi: Survivor screen, you can then select Update.

2. If the frame rate remains inconsistent after the latest patch, then make sure you have Variable Refresh Rate enabled if your TV or monitor supports it. This feature will help with smoothing out the stutters, as well as screen tearing, if the frame rate drops to as low as 40 frames per second.

Once you enable VRR from your screen’s settings, you need to open the Settings menu on your Xbox Series X. From there, you need to go to General > TV & display > Video modes. You should then make sure that the “Allow variable refresh rate” setting is enabled from the General – Video modes menu.

3. We also recommend that you disable the Usage Sharing feature in Jedi Survivor.

In order to do so, head over to the Options menu in the game. From there, select Extras on the left side and then make sure that Usage Sharing is set to Off on the right side of the same screen.

By disabling this feature, you may be able to improve the frame rate of the game by a little bit.

4. Turning off the chromatic aberration, film grain and/or motion blur may also help make the frame rate run smoother. You can find the settings to do so, by opening the Options menu in the game and then selecting Visuals.

5. Restarting Star Wars Jedi: Survivor and/or your Xbox Series X may be helpful as well. This is due to the Quick Resume or Sleep Mode features potentially causing the performance in Jedi Survivor and other games to dip.

To restart the game, you need to press the Xbox logo button on the controller, move the cursor over to the game’s icon and then press the Menu button. Afterwards, select Quit from the pop-up window. Once the software has closed, open it again.

In order to restart your Series X, press and hold the Xbox logo button. Afterwards, select Restart Console from the power menu.

How to fix ‘bypassed certain story elements’ glitch in Star Wars Jedi Survivor

When playing Star Wars Jedi: Survivor, you may encounter an unexpected error that states the following:

  • “You have seemed to have bypassed certain story elements. Continuing to play from this point may encounter issues. If you choose to proceed anyway, loading into future Saves from the Title Screen will give you the option to reload prior to this point.”

You may also be given two options. The Load option has the following description:

  • “Continue from the last good save. You may lose some progress but will avoid game breaking issues.”

The Proceed Anyway option has the following information:

  • “Continue in the broken state. This is not recommended. Things will likely be broken.”

To see how you can fix this potentially game breaking glitch, you can take a look at this troubleshooting article from Seeking Tech.

1. Based on our testing, this bug commonly appears when going from the Derelict Dam meditation point to the Southern Reach mediation point.

Normally, you should see the Bogling creatures just before the wall that requires you to double jump. If you don’t see them, then you need to respawn from the Derelict Dam meditation point and then proceed to navigate towards the Southern Reach mediation point again.

It may take several attempts to get the game to properly load in the Boglings. Once you see these creatures, then they should indicate that the game’s story has properly progressed. As a result, you should no longer see the “bypassed certain story elements” error message pop up from this point forward.

2. If the aforementioned solution did not work, then you can try power cycling your console if you are playing on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X or Xbox Series S.

On the PS5, you need to turn off your console, unplug its power cord and then wait for at least 60 seconds. Afterwards, re-plug the power cable and then turn the system back on.

On the Series X or Series S, you need to press and hold the power button on the console for at least 10 seconds. Once the console has shut down, you can press the same button to turn it back on.

After power cycling your gaming system, try to play the game again to see if you are still getting the same warning notification.

3. On the PC, you can try repairing or verifying the game files.

If you are playing from the EA App, then you need to go the Library section of the application and then click Manage on the game’s icon. You can then select Repair.

On Steam, you need to open the Library section and then click on the gear icon from the product page of Star Wars Jedi Survivor. Next, you need to select “Properties…” from the drop-down menu. In the new screen, select Local Files on the left side and then “Verify integrity of game files…” on the right side of the same screen.

4. If you still can’t get rid of this unexpected error, then you need to wait until the development team at Respawn Entertainment fixes this problem in a patch update.

Hopefully, the new version will address this unexpected error.

How to disable the controller speaker in Star Wars Jedi Survivor

If you are playing Star Wars Jedi: Survivor on PlayStation 5 or PlayStation 5 Digital Edition console, then the game will take advantage of the controller speaker of the DualSense. If you are using a DualShock 4 or DualSense on the PC version, then this feature is also supported.

If you don’t like that certain sounds are being played back into the speaker of your gamepad, then you can check out this guide at Seeking Tech to see how you can disable it.

1. To start off, you need to head over to the Options menu in Jedi Survivor, which can be done from the title screen before you load into the game.

If you are currently actively playing, then you can pause the action by pressing the Options button on the DualShock 4 or DualSense controller. From the pause menu, press the R1 button until you get to the gear icon on the top right side.

2. From the Options menu, you need to select Audio on the left side.

3. On the right side of the same screen, move the cursor down until you get to Controller Speaker.

4. By default, this setting is set to 100%, which is the loudest volume.

If you want to keep this feature enabled but lower its audio output volume, then you can move the slider for this setting to the left. You can decrease the volume in 10% increments.

If you simply want to disable the gamepad speaker altogether, then you need to move the slider all the way to the left until it reaches 0%.

From our experience playing Star Wars Jedi Survivor and other games on our PS5, we notice that our DualSense battery tends to drain faster when its speaker is used. Therefore, you may want to disable this feature if you don’t want to recharge your controller as often.

How to fix Star Wars Jedi Survivor input lag issues on PS5, Xbox Series X and S

If you are playing Star Wars Jedi: Survivor on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X or Xbox Series S, you may notice that Cal may not be super responsive to your controller inputs. You can check out this troubleshooting guide from Seeking Tech to see how you can reduce the input lag for this action-adventure title.

1. To start off, you should make sure that you have sufficient battery life on your controller if you are using it wirelessly. A gamepad with low battery may not be as fast as sending the signals to your console.

If you have one bar or zero bar left, then you should recharge your DualSense or change the batteries for your Xbox Wireless Controller.

2. You should also make sure that the controller is close enough to your console. If it is too far away, or there is an obstacle in between the direct line of sight, then the communication could be weakened.

Other wireless devices near the vicinity may also obstruct the wireless connection between the gamepad and your console as well.

3. Of course, you can also use the same controller over a wired USB connection. To do so on the Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S, you can simply plug in the pad via a USB cable.

For the PS5 and PS5 Digital Edition, you need to plug in the controller and then head over to the console’s Settings menu. From there, you need to select Accessories > Controller (General) > Communication Method > USB Cable.

4. On the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X, you can also play the game at up to 60 frames per second. The higher frame rate should help reduce the input latency.

To enable this mode, open the Options menu in Jedi Survivor and then select Visuals. From there, make sure that Performance Mode is set to On.

5. You should make sure that your television set is displaying in Game Mode, or something similar, as this will help with lowering the input lag.

6. If your television or monitor is capable of Variable Refresh Rate, then we recommend that you enable it on the screen’s settings as doing so should help with reducing the input delay.

You should also do the same on your game console. If you are playing the game on the PlayStation 5, then you need to go to the system’s settings menu and then select Settings > Screen and Video > Video Output > VRR > Automatic.

If you are playing Star Wars Jedi Survivor on the Series X or Series S, then you need to go to the console’s settings menu and then select General > TV & display options > Video modes. From there, you need to make sure the “Allow variable refresh rate” setting is enabled.

7. If you find that moving the in-game camera around feels a little too laggy, then you can try increasing the sensitivity of the right analog stick.

You find the sliders for both the X-axis and Y-axis camera movements in the Controls section of the Options menu in Star Wars Jedi Survivor.

How to fix Star Wars Jedi Survivor PS5 performance issues

When playing Star Wars Jedi Survivor on your PlayStation 5 or PlayStation 5 Digital Edition console, you may notice that there are frame rate problems. To see how you can improve the performance when playing this action-adventure game, you can take a look at this troubleshooting article from Seeking Tech.

1. For the first step, we suggest that you disable the Usage Sharing feature by doing the following:

  • Open the Options menu from the title screen of the pause menu. In the pause menu, you can get to options by pressing the R1 button until you get to the gear icon.
  • From the Options menu, select Extras on the left column.
  • On the right side of the same screen, make sure that Usage Sharing is set to Off.

You can also try playing the game with your console disconnected from the internet to disable the data sharing.

For the uninformed, this feature will allow the game to send your play data from the PlayStation 5 to Electronic Arts. This apparently takes up some resources and, as a result, makes the game drop some frames.

2. You may also be able to get better performance by disabling some visual effects.

To do so, you need to select Visuals from the aforementioned Options menu. From there, you can turn off chromatic aberration, film grain and motion blur.

3. Restarting the game may also help with fixing the performance issues, especially if you have been playing and/or leaving the game in a suspended state for an extended amount of time.

To restart, press and hold the PS button to open the home screen of your console. From there, move the cursor over to the Star Wars Jedi Survivor icon and then press the Options button on the DualSense. In the pop-up window, select Close Game.

Once you have closed the game, open it again.

4. If you have been using the Rest Mode for your PS5 or PS5 Digital Edition console, then it may be causing some general performance problems.

In this case, you can try restarting your system by pressing the PS button, selecting the Power option located at the bottom-side menu and then picking the Restart PS5 option.

5. If your television set or monitor supports Variable Refresh Rate, then you should make sure that it is enabled for both the screen and your console. On your PS5, you need to head over to Settings > Screen and Video > Video Output > VRR and then select Automatic.

VRR will help make the game appear to run at a smoother performance if frame rate drops all the way to 48 fps.

6. You should also make sure that you have the latest patch installed for the PlayStation 5 version of Jedi Survivor.

The developers at Respawn Entertainment admitted that the game launched at an un-optimized state. Therefore, future updates should most likely improve the frame rate.

7. The game runs smoother when Performance Mode is disabled. The caveat is that you will be limited to 30 fps instead of 60 fps.

If you just want a consistent performance, then you can turn off this mode from the Options > Visuals in-game menu.
