How to fix PS5 HDR washed-out issues

When playing your PlayStation 5 (or PlayStation 5 Digital Edition) in HDR, you may run into issues with dulled or washed-out colors.

You can follow this Seeking Tech guide to find some potential fixes to these problems.

Optimizing Your TV for PS5 HDR

The first step we recommend taking is to make sure your television set is optimized for using HDR on PlayStation 5.

The firmware of your TV should be up-to-date.

Furthermore, the correct HDR-capable HDMI port must be used when connecting your game system.

You should also make sure that you are playing the PS5 using the game mode settings of your television set.

If your TV have HGiG and Dynamic Tone Mapping modes, we recommend using either HGiG or turning off both options instead of Dynamic Tone Mapping.

There are many other settings that you can use to calibrate your HDR picture.

For now, we recommend leaving the rest of the settings to default and do the calibrating with the PlayStation 5.

How to fix HDMI handshake issues with PS5

If the HDR colors appear fine when turning on your PS5 in one occasion but appeared washed out in another, then the HDR color problems may be related to a HDMI handshake issue between the PlayStation 5 and your TV.

Below are several ways you can reset the handshake problems (and potentially fix the dulled or washed-out HDR):

1. Turn off your TV and turn it back on again.

2. Power off your PS5 and turn it back on again.

3. Disconnect the HDMI cable and reconnect it again.

4. Disable and enable HDR on the PS5. You can do this by going to “Settings” from the Home Screen menu. In “Settings,” select “Screen and Video” and then “Video Output.” Afterwards, select the “HDR” setting and change it to “Off.” Select “HDR” again and change it to “Automatic” in order to complete the reset.

How to fix the dulled/washed-out HDR on PS5

If your HDR problems aren’t related to the HDMI handshake, you can try changing the HDR settings on your PlayStation 5.

Below are a few settings that we recommend changing to get a better HDR picture:

How to change the PS5 RGB Range

Most of the issues relating to incorrect HDR colors on the PlayStation 5 is due to a mismatch of RGB ranges of the game console and your television set.

For now, we recommend leaving the RGB range of your television to its default setting and only changing the RGB range of the PS5.

To do so, you can take the following steps:

1. In the Home Screen menu, go to “Settings.”

2. From the “Settings” menu, head to “Screen and Video.”

3. In the “Screen and Video” menu, select “Video Output” on the left side and then “RGB Range” on the right side.

4. The default option is “Automatic (Recommended).” Select either the “Limited” or “Full” option instead. Afterwards, test the new setting out in a game to see if the HDR colors are still washed out.

5. If you are still experiencing issues, you can try the other option that you didn’t pick in the “RGB Range” settings and test the results.

6. If none of the options work, you can try to change the RGB range of your television set and then retest using with the “Limited” and “Full” options on the PS5.

How to change the PS5 4K Video Transfer Rate

You can also try limiting the transfer rate of your HDMI if you are getting dulled HDR colors.

To do so, you can take the following steps:

1. From the Home Screen menu, go to “Settings” and the “Screen and Video.”

2. From the “Screen and Video” menu, select “Video Output” on the left tab and then “4K Video Transfer Rate.”

3. The default option is “Automatic.” Select either “-1” or “-2” instead and then test out the new setting in a game.

4. If your first choice was ineffective, you can try the other option in “4K Video Transfer Rate.” Afterwards, retest the game to see if you get better contrast.

On a side note, changing the transfer rate will also help with flickering issues. You can find out more with this guide.

How to adjust PS5 HDR

If none of the above potential fixes work, we recommend adjusting the HDR on your PlayStation 5.

You can do so with the following steps:

1. Go to the aforementioned “Screen and Video” menu from “Settings.”

2. In the “Screen and Video” section, select “Video Output” and then “Adjust HDR.”

3. In the three subsequent screens, we recommend following the on-screen instructions to adjust the brightness until the symbol in the box is barely visible. Once you are done adjusting, you can test out the HDR in a game.

4. If you are still having problems, we recommending readjusting the HDR again. Instead of following the on-screen instructions this time, we recommend being a little bit more aggressive. For the first two screens, once you increase the brightness to barely seeing the symbol in the box, we suggest going up one more level in brightness. For the final screen, we suggest going down one more level after you darkened your screen to where the symbol in the box is barely visible. Retest the game to see if you get better results.

How to disable PS5 HDR

If none of the aforementioned potential fixes resolve the dulled/washed HDR colors, then we recommend simply disabling HDR altogether to see if SDR looks better on your television.

You can take the following steps to disable HDR on PlayStation 5:

1. In “Settings,” go back to “Screen and Video” and then select “Video Output” on the left side. Afterwards, select “HDR” on the right side.

2. The default option for the “HDR” setting is “Automatic.” Change this to “Off” to disable the visual feature.

3. The screen will then refresh itself. By disabling HDR, you will also disable Deep Color Output. After all that, test out a PS5 game to see if you prefer the SDR image to the HDR image.

Is the 2020 Hisense R6 a suitable TV for PS5, Xbox Series X and other game consoles?

The R6090G is a new low budget Roku television set released by Hisense in 2020. So, is this TV any good when it comes to displaying videogames on the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S as well as other game consoles?

You can find out in this Seeking Tech guide.

Quick Summary

The 2020 Hisense R6 is not a great television set for the PS5, Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S as it lacks a lot of advanced features like 120 frames per second, HDMI 2.1, variable refresh rate and wide color gamut.

Not to mention that this entry level TV has low brightness levels when you are playing HDR videogames.

The only positive for the R6090G as a gaming television set is that it offers low input lag with its game mode. So, it is not a bad choice if you want a low budget TV to play non-HDR games on older HDMI consoles like the PS4, Switch and Xbox One.

Screen Sizes

The Hisense R6 2020 television set is available in four sizes: 43”, 50”, 55” and 65”. You can check out the model number attached to each screen size option below:

  • 43-inch: 43R6090G
  • 50-inch: 50R6090G
  • 55-inch: 55R6090G
  • 65-inch: 65R6090G

Does Hisense R6090G have HDMI 2.1 ports?

The R6090G does not include any HDMI 2.1 inputs. Instead, the television set has three HDMI 2.0 ports.

The PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S all support HDMI 2.0 as well as HDMI 2.1.

Composite Input

The 2020 Hisense R6 TV comes with a composite port where you can directly connect the yellow video input as well as the red and white audio inputs of older systems like the PS1, PS2, Nintendo 64, Nintendo Gamecube, Nintendo Wii, Sega Saturn, Sega Dreamcast and Xbox.

Antenna Input

The R6090G also has an antenna/cable input. You can use this to connect really old gaming consoles like the NES, Super NES and Sega Genesis.

Dolby Vision, HDR10, HDR10+ and Wide Color Gamut Support

The 2020 Hisense R6 supports Dolby Vision and HDR10 but not HDR10+. It also does not have a Wide Color Gamut.

All three of the new consoles (PS5 and Xbox Series X/S) are using HDR10 for games. Microsoft will also be adding Dolby Vision support for games in a future firmware update for the Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S.

Hisense R6090G’s HDR Capabilities

The Hisense R6090G performs very poorly when it comes to HDR brightness. According to the tests done by RTINGS, the entry level television set can only reach 263 cd/m² at Real Scene Peak Brightness, 311 cd/m² at HDR Peak 100% Window and 310 cd/m² at HDR Sustained 100% Window. These and other scenes tested fall way below our recommend HDR brightness level of at least 500 cd/m² if you want a quality HDR picture.

You can take a look at the full HDR brightness test results for the R6090G below (via RTINGS):

  • HDR Real Scene Peak Brightness: 263 cd/m²
  • HDR Peak 2% Window: 301 cd/m²
  • HDR Peak 10% Window: 311 cd/m²
  • HDR Peak 25% Window: 311 cd/m²
  • HDR Peak 50% Window: 311 cd/m²
  • HDR Peak 100% Window: 311 cd/m²
  • HDR Sustained 2% Window: 301 cd/m²
  • HDR Sustained 10% Window: 310 cd/m²
  • HDR Sustained 25% Window: 310 cd/m²
  • HDR Sustained 50% Window: 310 cd/m²
  • HDR Sustained 100% Window: 310 cd/m²
  • HDR ABL: 0.002

Native Refresh Rate

The 2020 Hisense R6 Roku television set has a native refresh rate of 60 Hz, which means that it can display games at up to 60 frames per second.

So, even if you are playing a PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X or Xbox Series S game that supports 120 frames per second, this TV will only display the video at 60 fps.

FreeSync, GSYNC and VRR Support

The R6090G does not support FreeSync, GSYNC or Variable Refresh Rate (VRR). These features will smooth out the frame rate and remove screen tearing in games that run at an inconsistent frame rate.

VRR is currently support by the Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S. The same feature will be added to the PlayStation 5 in a future firmware update.

Hisense R6090G’s Input Lag

When its game mode is enabled, the Hisense R6 2020 television offers low input lag. According to RTINGS’ tests, the latency is just 12.5 ms at 1080p/60Hz, 29.3 ms at 1440p/60Hz, 12.7 ms at 4K/60Hz and 12.7 ms at 4K/60Hz/HDR. All of these falls below the upper limit of 30 ms, when it comes to input delay, if you want a responsive gaming experience.

The 4K/60Hz/HDR setting will mainly be used by the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X. The 1080p/60Hz and 1440p/60Hz settings will mainly be used by the Xbox Series S.

You can take a look at the full input lag test results for the R6090G below (via RTINGS):

  • 1080p resolution and 60 Hz refresh rate (Game Mode Enabled): 12.5 ms
  • 1440p resolution and 60 Hz refresh rate (Game Mode Enabled): 29.3 ms
  • 4K resolution and 60 Hz refresh rate (Game Mode Enabled): 12.7 ms
  • 4K resolution, 60 Hz refresh rate and 10 bit HDR (Game Mode Enabled): 12.7 ms
  • 4K resolution and 60 Hz at 4:4:4: 12.7 ms
  • 1080p resolution and 60 Hz refresh rate (Game Mode Disabled): 46.0 ms
  • 4K resolution and 60 Hz refresh rate (Game Mode Disabled): 46.0 ms

Is the Hisense R6090G good for PS5, Xbox Series S and Xbox Series X?

The Hisense R6090G doesn’t really take advantage of the new videogame consoles as the TV lacks support for HDMI 2.1, wide color gamut, variable refresh rate and 120 frames per second. The television set also has poor HDR brightness levels.

For a better Hisense gaming TV, we recommend taking a look at the H9G instead.

Is the Hisense R6090G good for Switch, PS4 and Xbox One?

The Hisense R6090G does offer low input lag with its game mode. So, it is a decent television to play non-HDR videogames on older HDMI consoles like the PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, Xbox One, Nintendo Wii U and Nintendo Switch.

How to fix the PS5 flickering issues

When you are using the PlayStation 5 or PlayStation 5 Digital Edition with your television set, you may encounter flickering issues.

If you are experiencing these problems, you can follow this guide at Seeking Tech for some potential fixes.

Potential Fix #1

The first step you can take is to see if your HDMI cable is connected securely on your PlayStation 5 console as well as the HDMI port on your television. If both ends are connected, then you can try using a different HDMI port on your TV to see if the flicker problems persist.

You can also try using a different HDMI cable. If you don’t have another one lying around in your house, then you can check out our guide for HDMI cables that are compatible with the PlayStation 5 (as well as the Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S).

Potential Fix #2

Another potential fix is to try updating the firmware on your television set. TV manufactures will sometime release new firmware updates to fix issues in addition improve compatibility with new connected hardware such as the PlayStation 5.

The process of updating the firmware of your television set depends on your TV model. It is best that you visit the website of your TV manufacture to find out more on how to update to the latest firmware of your TV.

Potential Fix #3

If the aforementioned fixes did not solve the flickering issues, you can try adjusting the video transfer rate of your PlayStation 5 system. To do so, you can take the following steps:

From the Home Screen main menu, navigate upward and then right until you see “Settings,” which has a gear symbol. Press the X button on your DualSense to bring up the “Settings” menu.

In “Settings,” select “Screen and Video.”

In the “Screen and Video” menu select “Video Output” on the left tab and then “4K Video Transfer Rate” to the right.

The “4K Video Transfer Rate” is set to “Automatic” be default. You can try changing this to “-1” or “-2” in order to limit transfer rate to potentially stop your display from flickering when playing PS5 games.

Potential Fix #4

If none of the above solutions fix the screen flickers, you can try changing other display settings.

To do so, head back to the aforementioned “Video Output” section of the “Screen and Video.” In here, you can change the resolution of your display, enable/disable HDR and more. Try to change these settings and then test your TV to see if changing any of them will get rid of the flickering.

If none of the above fixes stop your TV from flickering when playing PlayStation 5 games, then you may have to contact PlayStation Support about a potential faulty system.

Compatible HDMI Cables for the PS5, Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S

Although the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S come with HDMI cables, these connectors may be too short in length to fit your setup in your entertainment center.

You can follow this guide to find compatible extra long HDMI cables for these videogame systems.

Quick Summary

The PlayStation 5 comes with a 5.5 feet HDMI 2.1 cable, the Xbox Series X comes with a 6.5 feet HDMI 2.1 cable and the Xbox Series S comes with a 6.5 HDMI 2.0 cable.

If you want to use a longer cable that can take full advantage of these game consoles, then we recommend picking up either the 10-foot Zeskit 8K Ultra HD High Speed 48 Gpbs HDMI 2.1 Cable or 16-foot Zeskit 8K Ultra HD High Speed 48 Gpbs HDMI 2.1 Cable.

HDMI Version Included with PS5, Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S

Both the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X come with a HDMI 2.1 cable.

The Xbox Series S comes with a HDMI 2.0 cable.

With HDMI 2.1, you will be able to play games in the following refresh rates and resolutions:

  • 30Hz at 1080p
  • 60Hz at 1080p
  • 120Hz at 1080p
  • 30Hz at 1440p
  • 60Hz at 1440p
  • 120Hz at 1440p
  • 30Hz at 4K
  • 60Hz at 4K
  • 120Hz at 4K
  • 30Hz at 10K
  • 60Hz at 10K

The HDMI 2.0 supports the following refresh rates and resolutions:

  • 30Hz at 1080p
  • 60Hz at 1080p
  • 120Hz at 1080p
  • 30Hz at 1440p
  • 60Hz at 1440p
  • 120Hz at 1440p
  • 30Hz at 4K
  • 60Hz at 4K

HDMI 2.1 also come with extra features not found in HDMI 2.0 such as Auto Low Latency Mode (ALLM) Display Stream Compression (DSC), Dolby TrueHD, DTS-HD Master Audio and Variable Refresh Rate (VRR).

In order to use HDMI 2.1 features, you need to connect your videogame system to a TV with HDMI 2.1 ports.

If you connect your console to a HDMI 2.0 port using a HDMI 2.1 cable, your video output will be limited to the HDMI 2.0 supported refresh rates, resolutions and features.

What all of this mean is that you need to know what version is the long HDMI cable you are buying.

Otherwise, you could end up missing out on some display features.

In general, we recommend getting a HDMI 2.1 cable over HDMI 2.0 cable as the newer version is future-proof. Even if your current television set don’t have any HDMI 2.1 ports, any new TV models will most likely have them in the future. Not to mention that HDMI 2.1 cables are backwards compatible with HDMI 2.0 ports.

PS5, Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S HDMI Cable Lengths

The HDMI 2.1 cable that comes with the PlayStation 5 is around 5.5 feet long.

The HDMI 2.1 cable that is included with the Xbox Series X is around 6.5 feet long.

Last but not least, the HDMI 2.0 cable that comes with the Xbox Series S is around 5.5 feet long.

Compatible Extra Long HDMI 2.1 Cable for PS5, Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S

The best long HDMI 2.1 cable we recommend is the Zeskit 8K Ultra HD High Speed 48 Gpbs HDMI Cable.

The product supports all of the refresh rates, resolutions and features from HDMI 2.1.

It comes in lengths of 3 feet, 6.5 feet, 10 feet and 16 feet.

If you are interested, you can purchase the longer versions with the following links from Amazon:

Compatible Extra Long HDMI 2.0 Cable for PS5, Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S

If you still want to get a long HDMI 2.0 cable instead, then we suggest buying the Zeskit Cinema Plus High Speed HDMI 2.0b Cable as it supports all the HDMI 2.0 refresh rates, resolutions and features.

This cable is available in six different lengths: 1.5 foot, 3 feet, 6.5 feet, 10 feet, 16 feet and 29 feet.

You can buy the longer lengths, if you are interested, on Amazon with the following links:

Is the Vizio V-Series 2020 a suitable TV for the PS5, Xbox Series X and other consoles?

In 2020, Vizio updated its low budget V-Series. So, how does the new television set fare at playing video games on the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series S, Xbox Series X as well as other home consoles?

You can find out in this Seeking Tech guide.

Quick Summary

The Vizio V-Series 2020 is a poor gaming TV for the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series S and Xbox Series X due to the lack of HDMI 2.1 ports in addition to missing wide color gamut.

Not to mention that this television set has bad HDR brightness levels.

The TV does have very low input lag when game mode is enabled, however. So, it is a great budget friendly television set to play non-HDR games on older HDMI consoles like the PS4, Switch and Xbox One.

For even older systems, the TV does include antenna and composite inputs.

Screen Sizes

The Vizio V-Series 2020 TV is available in nine different screen sizes.

You can find the model numbers for each size below:

  • 40-inch: V405-H19
  • 43-inch: V435-H11
  • 50-inch: V505-H19
  • 55-inch: V555-H11
  • 58-inch: V585-H11
  • 60-inch: V605-H3
  • 65-inch: V655-H9
  • 70-inch: V705-H3
  • 75-inch: V755-H4

Does the Vizio V-Series 2020 have any HDMI 2.1 ports?

The V-Series 2020 comes with 3 HDMI ports, all of which are 2.0.

The PlayStation 5, Xbox Series S and Xbox Series X support HDMI 2.0. However, these consoles also support HDMI 2.1 for advanced display features like 120 frames per second and variable refresh rate.

Composite Input

The new V-Series comes with composite input, which means you can directly connect older gaming systems like the original PlayStation, PlayStation 2, Nintendo 64, Nintendo Gamecube and original Xbox.

Antenna Input

The 2020 version of the V-Series also includes antenna input where you can directly connect retro consoles like the Sega Genesis, Nintendo Entertainment System and Super Nintendo Entertainment System.

Vizio V-Series 2020’s Supported HDR Features

The Vizio V-Series supports HDR10, HDR10+ and Dolby Vision. However, the television set does not support a wide color gamut.

If you haven’t heard already, the Xbox Series S and Xbox Series X use Dolby Vision for games.

Vizio V-Series 2020’s HDR Capabilities

The Vizio V-Series 2020 is very dim for an HDR-capable television set.

We recommend screens with brightness levels of at least 500cd/m² to really showcase the advantages of HDR. Unfortunately, the new V-Series comes nowhere close to reaching that level.

According to tests done by RTINGS.com, the TV can only reach 199 cd/m² at HDR Real Scene Peak Brightness, 211 cd/m² at HDR Peak 100% Window and 210 cd/m² at HDR Sustained 100% Window.

You can find the full brightness test results for the new V-Series below (via RTINGS):

  • HDR Real Scene Peak Brightness: 199 cd/m²
  • HDR Peak 2% Window: 207 cd/m²
  • HDR Peak 10% Window: 210 cd/m²
  • HDR Peak 25% Window: 210 cd/m²
  • HDR Peak 50% Window: 210 cd/m²
  • HDR Peak 100% Window: 211 cd/m²
  • HDR Sustained 2% Window: 206 cd/m²
  • HDR Sustained 10% Window: 210 cd/m²
  • HDR Sustained 25% Window: 210 cd/m²
  • HDR Sustained 50% Window: 210 cd/m²
  • HDR Sustained 100% Window: 210 cd/m²
  • HDR ABL: 0.001

Native Refresh Rate

The 2020 model of the Vizio V-Series has a native refresh rate of 60 Hz, which means that it can play video games at up to 60 frames per second.

FreeSync, G-Sync and Variable Refresh Rate Support

This television set does not support FreeSync, G-Sync or Variable Refresh Rate. These features are designed to make games look smoother and get rid of screen tearing.

PCs with AMD graphics cards use FreeSync while PCs with NVIDIA graphics cards use G-SYNC.

The PS5, Xbox Series S and Xbox Series X use Variable Refresh Rate.

Is the Vizio V-Series 2020 good for PS5, Xbox Series S and Xbox Series X?

The Vizio V-Series 2020 is not a good television set for the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series S and Xbox Series X due to the lack of HDMI 2.1 ports, missing wide color gamut support and dimmed HDR brightness levels.

Is the Vizio V-Series 2020 good for Switch, PS4, and Xbox One?

With that said, the television set is a great low budget television set for older HDMI consoles like the PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Nintendo Wii U, Nintendo Switch, Xbox 360 and Xbox One thanks to the aforementioned low input lag.

If you want to play HDR-enabled games on the PS4, PS4 Pro, Xbox One S and or Xbox One X, then you should look elsewhere.

Is the TCL 5 S535 a suitable TV for the PS5, Xbox Series X and other consoles?

The TCL 5 S535 is one of several new budget-friendly 2020 television sets. So, how good is this TV for gaming on the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series S, Xbox Series X as well as other consoles?

You can find out in this Seeking Tech guide for the 2020 version of the TCL 5 Series.

Quick Summary

We don’t recommend getting the TCL 5 S535 for the PS5, Xbox Series S or Xbox One X due to the lack of HDMI 2.1 ports, which means that you will be missing out on 120 frames per second as well as variable refresh rate.

The TV also has poor HDR brightness levels.

With that said, the new TCL 5 has exceptional input lag reduction when you enabled its game mode. So, it is a pretty good television to play non-HDR games on the older HDMI consoles like the PS4, Switch and Xbox One.

As for legacy consoles, the TCL 5 S535 includes a RF adapter as well as a singular composite cable, which you need to purchase a separate adapter for if you want to plug in systems that uses the yellow, white and red composite plugs.

Does TCL 5 S535 have HDMI 2.1 ports?

The TCL 5 S535 has four HDMI 2.0 ports but zero HDMI 2.1 ports. As a result, this television set is not capable of playing PS5, Xbox Series S or Xbox Series X videogames at 120 frames per second.

The TV also won’t take advantage of variable refresh rate, a new feature that help smooth out inconsistent frame rate and screen tearing.

TCL 5 S535’s HDR Capabilities

In terms of high dynamic range features, the S535 version of the TCL 5 supports a wide color gamut, HDR10 as well as Dolby Vision (both the Xbox Series S and Xbox Series X will be using Dolby Vision).

The TV is not compatible with HDR10.

As for brightness levels in HDR, the TCL 5 S535 is unfortunately too dim to take advantage of high-dynamic range.

We recommend TVs that have at least 500 nits of brightness in HDR. According to RTINGS, the S535 model can only reach 247 nits at HDR Real Scene Peak Brightness, 337 nits at HDR Peak 100% Window and 335 nits at HDR Sustained 100% Window.

You can take a look the HDR test results for the new TCL 5 below (via RTINGS):

  • HDR Real Scene Peak Brightness: 247 cd/m²
  • HDR Peak 2% Window: 214 cd/m²
  • HDR Peak 10% Window: 376 cd/m²
  • HDR Peak 25% Window: 432 cd/m²
  • HDR Peak 50% Window: 358 cd/m²
  • HDR Peak 100% Window: 337 cd/m²
  • HDR Sustained 2% Window: 213 cd/m²
  • HDR Sustained 10% Window: 375 cd/m²
  • HDR Sustained 25% Window: 429 cd/m²
  • HDR Sustained 50% Window: 356 cd/m²
  • HDR Sustained 100% Window: 335 cd/m²
  • HDR ABL: 0.040

If you want to use the S535 as a computer monitor, the latency is 10.9 ms at 4K/60Hz/4:4:4. This TV can’t use the FreeSync feature from AMD video cards or the GSYNC feature from the GSYNC video cards.

You can take a look at the input lag tests for the TCL 5 S535 below (via RTINGS):

Is the TCL 5 S535 good for PS5, Xbox Series S and Xbox Series X?

The TCL 5 S535 is a poor choice from playing PlayStation 5, Xbox Series S and Xbox Series X videogames due to the lack of HDMI 2.1 ports in addition to the poor HDR brightness levels.

Is the TCL 5 S535 good for Switch, PS4, PS4 Pro, Xbox One, Xbox One S and Xbox One X?

The TV does have stellar input lag reduction when you used its game mode, however. So, it is more than capable enough at providing a great experience when playing older HDMI consoles like the Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Wii U, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, Xbox 360 and Xbox One.

Like we stated above, the HDR brightness performance is poor so you won’t get a quality picture with HDR-supported games on the PS4, PS4 Pro, Xbox One S and Xbox One X.

Legacy Consoles Support

If you are looking to connect older consoles that use a composite input, you need to purchase an adapter that covers the yellow, white and red plugs into a singular yellow composite plug.

The TCL 5 S535 does come with a RF input, so you will be able to simply connect retro systems, which include the NES, Super NES and Sega Genesis.

Before picking a wall mount for your TU-7000, you need to consider three factors: the weight, dimensions and VESA of your set.

The weight of your Samsung 2020 TV is important as the mounting brackets have a capacity limit. The dimensions are also essential as you want to know that you have enough space on your wall (you should also leave some extra room if you are planning to tilt and/or swivel your television). VESA is the industry standard of measuring the four mounting holes located on the back of the TV, so it is another key metric.

Before we start talking about wall mounts, there are three main factors you should take into consideration: the dimensions of your TV, the weight of your TV and the VESA pattern of your TV.

Dimensions will help you determine if you have enough space on your wall. If you are planning to tilt, swivel or slide your TU8300, then you should also leave some extra room to accommodate these customization options as well.

Furthermore, wall mounts have a limit in terms of how much weight can be held. So, you need to know how many pounds your TU-8300 weigh.

Last but not least is the VESA pattern, which measures the spacing between the four mounting holes located on the back of your Samsung television set.

You can check out the specifications for all three below.
