How to disable Star Wars Jedi Survivor chromatic aberration, film grain and motion blur

By default, Star Wars Jedi: Survivor uses chromatic aberration, film grain and motion blur. While these graphical effects make the action-adventure game more cinematic, it also makes it look less sharp. If you want to disable any of these three visual options, you can follow the steps laid out in this article from Seeking Tech to find out how you can properly do so.

1. For the first step, you need to head over to the Options menu in the game. You can do so by selecting “Options” from the main menu.

Alternatively, you can open the in-game menu while you are playing Star Wars Jedi Survivor by either pressing the Options button on the DualSense controller or Menu button on the Xbox controller if you are playing with a gamepad.

From the in-game menu, you can then press the R1 button on PlayStation or RB button on Xbox until you get to the Options menu, which is represented by the gear icon.

2. After getting to the Options menu, you need to select Visuals on the left column.

3. Next, you need to scroll down until you get to the Effects section.

4. In the Effects section, you should be able to see the following:

  • Motion Blur
  • Film Grain
  • Chromatic Aberration

5. To disable these effects, you need to make sure that Motion Blur, Film Grain or Chromatic Aberration are set to Off.

6. Once you are done, you can exit the Options menu.

When you resume your progress in Star Wars Jedi Survivor, you should no longer see chromatic aberration, film grain and motion blur if you disable these graphical effects from the Options menu.

Recommended DualSense Edge settings for Star Wars Jedi Survivor

You can use the DualSense Edge to play Star Wars Jedi Survivor. To see what are the best settings you can use for the premium controller when it comes to this action-adventure game, you can take a look at this guide from Seeking Tech.

Analog Caps and Back Buttons Attachments

With the DualSense Edge, you are able to replace the analog caps and back button attachments. For Star Wars Jedi Survivor, we suggest going with the combination that provides the most comfort.

Trigger Stops

As for the trigger stops located on the back of the controller, we suggest moving the sliders all the way to the bottom. By doing so, you should be able to use the Force Pull and Force Push actions quicker.

Not to mention that the trigger stops will also disable the adaptive trigger effects in Jedi Survivor, which may have been making the game less responsive to your L2 and R2 inputs.

If you want to further fine tune the trigger sensitivity, then you can do so from the DualSesne Edge’s Trigger Deadzone menu on your PlayStation 5.

Customize Button Assignments

The action-adventure game has the following default button layout:

  • Left Analog Stick: Move Character
  • Right Analog Stick: Move Camera
  • Triangle: Heavy Attack or Special Attack
  • Circle: Evade or Drop
  • X: Jump
  • Square: Attack
  • L1: Parry or Block
  • L2: Force Pull
  • R1: Focus
  • R2: Force Push
  • L3: Sprint
  • R3: Interact or Target
  • L3 and R3: Force Slow
  • Up Directional Pad Button: Heal
  • Down Directional Pad Button: BD-1 Scan
  • Left Directional Pad Button: Lightsaber Stance 1
  • Right Directional Pad Button: Lightsaber Stance 2
  • R1 and Triangle: Lift
  • R1 and Circle: Confuse
  • R1 and X: Slam
  • R1 and Square: Companion Combat Assist
  • Options: Open Menu
  • Touchpad: Map or Shortcut

With the DualSense Edge, you have two additional back buttons. To take advantage of these, we recommend that you use Customize Button Assignments menu of the controller on your PS5 to bind L3 to the back left back button and then R3 to the right back button. Afterwards, you can disable both the L3 and R3 buttons.

By default, you need to press down on the left analog stick to run, right analog stick to target/interact and both analogs to use Force Slow. The L3 and R3 buttons don’t feel as natural when pressed down compared to the other buttons on the controller. Not to mention that you may accidentally trigger an unintended action if you are put too much pressure on the sticks.

Therefore, we suggest re-binding the L3 and R3 buttons to the back buttons. By doing so, running, targeting, interacting and using Force Slow feels should end up feeling more natural. By disabling the L3 and R3 buttons, you will be able to avoid accidental inputs as well.

Stick Sensitivity/Deadzone

If you feel that moving the camera around isn’t responsive, then you can open the Options menu in Star Wars Jedi Survivor and then select Controls. From there, you are able to adjust the sensitivity settings of both the X and Y axis when you are moving the right analog stick.

You can also fine tune the sensitivity and deadzones for both sticks of the controller from the Edge’s Stick Sensitivity/Deadzone menu on your PS5.

How to turn off DualSense adaptive triggers in Star Wars Jedi Survivor

The adaptive triggers of the DualSense controller add to the immersion of Star Wars Jedi Survivor with the added rumble and extra resistance. If you find that this feature is limiting your performance in this action-adventure game, however, then you can check out this tutorial from Seeking Tech to see how you can disable it.

Method #1

For the first method, you can disable adaptive triggers from the in-game menu of Jedi Survivor. In order to do so, you need to take the following steps:

1. First off, you should head over to Options menu in Star Wars Jedi Survivor.

2. In the Options menu, select Controller on the left column.

3. On the right side of the same screen, move the cursor down to Trigger Effect Function. This setting should have a description that reads:

  • “Enables vibration and resistance on the controller trigger effect function.”

4. Set the Trigger Effect Function setting to Off.

When you start playing Star Wars Jedi Survivor again, you should no longer experience any rumble and resistance on the L2 and R2 buttons of your DualSense controller.

Method #2

You can also disable the adaptive trigger effect on a system-wide basis. If you are interested in doing so, you need to do the following:

1. Head to the home menu of your PlayStation 5 or PlayStation 5 Digital Edition console. You can do so by pressing and holding the PS logo button for around a second.

2. From the home menu, you need to navigate to the Settings menu by selecting the gear icon that can be found on the top right side.

3. In the Settings menu, scroll down and then select Accessories.

4. From the Accessories menu, you first need to select Controller (General) on the left side and then Trigger Effect Intensity on the right side of the same screen.

In the pop-up menu, you need to select Off. Alternatively, you can also select Weak or Medium option if you want to keep the adaptive trigger effects but also make them less intensive.

Keep in mind that the changes you made in the Settings menu on your PlayStation 5 will also apply to other PS5 games you are playing aside from Star Wars Jedi Survivor. So, if you want to use the full effects of adaptive triggers in the future, then you need to go back to the Settings > Accessories > Controller (General) > Trigger Effect Intensity menu and then set this setting to Strong (Standard).

What to do if Star Wars Jedi: Survivor looks too dark on PS5

When playing Star Wars Jedi: Survivor on your PlayStation 5 or PlayStation 5 Digital Edition, you may notice that the graphics look too dark. In some cases, you may not be able to see anything at all due to the server black crush.

To see how you can fix this specific display issue, you can take a look at this troubleshooting guide from Seeking Tech.

1. If you haven’t done so already, make sure you download the latest patch for Jedi Survivor. You can manually check if a new update is available by doing the following:

  • Go to the home screen of your PS5 console.
  • On the home screen, move the cursor to the Star Wars Jedi: Survivor icon.
  • Press the Options button on the DualSense controller.
  • In the pop-up menu, select Check for Update.

This brightness issue appears to be widespread for gamers who are playing the game on the PS5 platform. Therefore, it is very likely that the development team at Respawn Entertainment will fix it in a new patch sooner rather than later.

2. If you don’t want to wait for a new patch, then you can try manually adjusting the brightness output of your console, as well as by using the in-game menu, in order to temporarily fix the crushed blacks.

We suggest following the directions provided by the GamingTech YouTube channel by taking the following step:

  • To start off, turn off Dynamic Tone Mapping or HGiG from your television set if it uses any of these two HDR features.
  • Next, open the Settings menu on your PS5 and then head over to Screen and Video > Video Output > Adjust HDR.
  • In the next three screens, keep pressing Up on the directional until you are no longer able to increase the brightness.
  • Go to the Options > Visuals menu in Star Wars Jedi: Survivor and then select HDR Brightness.
  • In the HDR Calibration menu, set HDR Brightness to a value of 20 and HDR Black Point to a value of 5.

If you need a visual guide for these directions, then you can check out GamingTech’s video on this temporary fix below:

Keep in mind that changing the HDR brightness output for your PS5 by using the Adjust HDR option will also be applicable to the other games you play on the console. So, if you decide to play another game, then you will need to re-calibrate the console HDR brightness output.

3. If you don’t want to mess with the HDR brightness output of your PlayStation 5 or PlayStation 5 Digital Edition, then you might want to try playing Jedi Survivor in SDR instead of HDR.

In order to do so, you need to do the following:

  • Go to the Settings menu of your PS5 from the home screen.
  • Inside of Settings, go to Screen and Video > Video Output.
  • From the Video Output menu, make sure that HDR is set to On When Supported.

  • Open Star Wars Jedi: Survivor and then head over to its Options menu.
  • From there, select Visuals.
  • Finally, make sure that HDR Output is turned off.
  • Afterwards, you can select Brightness from the same menu to change the brightness output in SDR.

How to change the camera angle in Disney Speedstorm

By default, the Disney Speedstorm uses a “Cinematic” camera angle that is closer to the kart and tends to move around during the race. If you find that you have a hard time seeing the track while racing, then you can check out this tutorial from Seeking Tech.

1. To start off, you need to enter the Game Settings menu.

  • “The camera tilt follows the kart’s position. Try this if you experience motion sickness while playing the game.”

6. By default, the Horizontal Tilt setting is turned on. We recommend that you try playing Disney Speedstorm with this feature enabled to see if you prefer the camera tilt following your kart around.

If you find that you have a hard time seeing the racetrack with this feature, then you can try disabling it so see if your racing performance improves.

About the Difficulty Settings in Star Wars Jedi: Survivor

The difficulty modes in Star Wars Jedi: Survivor are entirely combat based. There are three main components that are affected when you change settings.

The first of which is parry timing, which is the amount of time you have to successfully parry an incoming attack from an enemy. The higher value this component is, the bigger window you will have when it comes to performing a counterattack.

The second main component is incoming damage, which determines how much damage you will take if you get hit. The higher this value is, the more health bar you will lose when an enemy hit you.

The last main component is enemy aggression, which refers to how often the enemy will be attacking you. The higher the value, the more you will see the enemy attacking.

Story Mode Difficulty

The Story Mode in Star Wars Jedi: Survivor is the easiest difficulty setting as you should have all the time in the world to parry an enemy attack. Furthermore, both the incoming damage and enemy aggression components have are reduced to the absolute minimum.

As the name suggests, this difficulty mode is designed for those who want to play the game simply for the story as there won’t be any combat challenge.

Jedi Padawan Difficulty

Jedi Padawan is the second easiest mode. You will be given a healthy timing window when it comes to parrying. The incoming damage and enemy aggression components will also be slightly reduced.

If you are struggling in the Jedi Knight difficulty mode, then you can drop down to Jedi Padawan as it will give you better parry windows in addition to having lower damage taken and less enemy aggression.

Jedi Knight Difficulty

Jedi Knight is the normal mode in Star Wars Jedi: Survivor. When compared to the other settings, this one offer average rates when it comes to parry timing, incoming damage and enemy aggression.

Jedi Master Difficulty

If you are looking for more of a challenge, then you can try the Jedi Master hard mode difficulty. This setting reduces the parry timing while also making the enemy hit harder and more frequently.

Jedi Grand Master Difficulty

Jedi Grand Master is the hardest mode in this game. If you are playing with this setting, you will have a minimal parry timing window. The enemy attack power and frequency will also be at the highest.

Can you change difficulty settings in Star Wars Jedi: Survivor?

The good news is that you can change difficulty modes at any time in Star Wars Jedi: Survivor. As a result, you can play around with any of the settings before finding one that fits your skill level.

Dose difficulty affect trophies or achievements?

The difficulty modes in Star Wars Jedi: Survivor have no affect when it comes to earning trophies on PlayStation 5 or achievements on PC, Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S. Therefore, you can still earn these merits even if you are playing the game in the story mode difficulty.

How to prevent motion sickness while playing Dead Island 2

When playing Dead Island 2, you may start to feel a little dizzy. If you are experiencing nausea, then you can take a look at this guide from Seeking Tech to see how you can feel more comfortable during gameplay.

1. For the first step, you can try increasing the field of view, which moves the camera angle backwards so that you can see more of the environment. By increasing the FoV, you may be able to get rid of the nausea while playing this first-person action-adventure game.

In order to do so, you need to do the following:

  • To start off, you need to head over to the Options menu in Dead Island 2.
  • From the Options menu, you then need to select Display.

  • You may have to go through several different angles in order to find your comfort zone.

2. If you find that the game is too blurry, then it may lead to your motion sickness. In this case, you can return to the Options > Display menu. From there, you can move the Motion Blur slider to 0 in order to disable any blurring effects when it comes to objects in motion.

3. If the character isn’t moving or aiming as snappy as you would like, then it may also be triggering your nausea.

To edit the sensitivity and deadzones for both the left and right analog sticks, you need to open the Options menu and then head over to Controls.

In the Controls menu, you will be able change the following:

How to disable Final Fantasy Pixel Remaster trophy notifications

The PlayStation 4 versions of Final Fantasy, Final Fantasy II, Final Fantasy III, Final Fantasy IV, Final Fantasy V and Final Fantasy VI all feature trophies. Each of these titles offer a platinum trophy if you feel like earning it.

With that said, the pop-up notifications that appear every time you earn a trophy may be too distracting for your eyes, especially if you want an authentic experience when it comes to playing these classic Japanese role-playing games.

To see how you can disable the trophy notifications for all six games in the Final Fantasy Pixel Remaster collection, you can take a look at this article from Seeking Tech.

1. The first step you need to take is to return to home menu of your PlayStation 4, PlayStation 4 Pro, PlayStation 5 or PlayStation 5 Digital Edition console.

2. From the home menu, you need to head over to Settings.

3. Inside of the Settings menu, find and select Notifications.

4. You will be able to disable the trophy pop-up from the Notifications menu.

On the PlayStation 5 or PlayStation 5 Digital Edition, you need to select Trophies. In the small pop-up menu, make sure that the During Game settings is disabled.

On the PlayStation 4 or PlayStation 4 Pro, you need to select Pop-Up Notifications. Afterwards, make sure that the Trophies setting is deselected in the Pop-Up Notifications menu.

5. Once you are done, you can exit the Settings menu and then return to your game.

While you can still earn trophies in Final Fantasy, Final Fantasy 2, Final Fantasy 3, Final Fantasy 4, Final Fantasy 5 and Final Fantasy 6, you will no longer see any trophy pop-up notifications.

By disabling the trophy messages on a system-level, you won’t see them pop-up on any other games on play on your PS4, PS4 Pro, PS5 or PS5 Digital Edition.

So, if you want to enable these notifications again, you can do so from the Settings > Notifications > Pop-Up Notifications menu on PlayStation 4 and Settings > Notifications > Trophies menu on PlayStation 5.
