How to fix 2022 Tile Mate, Pro, Slim and Sticker activation issues

If you are trying to set up the 2022 Tile Mate, Tile Pro, Tile Slim or Tile Sticker then you may run into issues activating the tracker for the Tile app.

You can follow this troubleshooting article at Seeking Tech to see how you can potentially fix these activation problems.

1. The first step we recommend taking is to make sure that your smartphone or mobile device is compatible with the 2022 versions of the Mate, Pro, Slim or Sticker.

These trackers should work with iPhones and other Apple devices that are running the iOS 13 or later.

For Android, your smartphone or device should be running Android 8.0 or later.

Your phone or mobile device also needs to feature Bluetooth and have the wireless connection turned on.

2. A software update for the application may also help resolve activation issues. So, make sure you keep the Tile app up-to-date.

3. It is also a good idea to update your phone or mobile device to the latest available firmware.

4. Furthermore, you should make sure that the Tile app has the right permission settings.

If you are using the iOS version of the application, then you can tap Settings in the app and then select Permissions Status. If you see a warning icon next to Bluetooth, then tap it. In the device settings screen, make sure you enable Bluetooth permission for the Tile app.

If you are using an Android device, you should able to turn on Bluetooth permission for the Tile app from the system menu. If you have a Google Pixel 6 or Google Pixel 6 Pro phone, for example, you can go to Settings > Apps >See all apps > Tile > Permissions > Nearby devices. In the “Nearby devices permission” menu, make sure that the “Allow” option is selected.

5. If your 2022 Tile Mate, Tile Pro, Tile Slim or Tile Sticker is still not activating, then you can try closing the Tile app. You should also close other opened apps on your smartphone or mobile device as they may be causing conflicts that may result in activation issues with your tracker.

Afterwards, open only the Tile app to see if you are able to activate the Tile Mate, Pro, Slim or Sticker.

6. You can also try restarting your phone or mobile device.

7. Make sure that the Bluetooth connection is working correctly.

To find out how to improve the connection, you can take a look at this guide.

8. You can also simply wait for at least 3 minutes after pressing the Tile button on your 2022 Mate, Pro, Slim or Sticker to see if the activation will eventually go through.

9. If you don’t hear a tune being played after pressing the Tile button on your tracker, then the tracker may have already been activated on another Tile account.

If you bought a used 2022 Tile Mate, Pro, Slim or Sticker, then you need to contact the previous owner and ask them to transfer the Tile activation from their Tile account to yours.

There is also a possibility that your smartphone or mobile device is picking up the Tile trackers you have previously activated on your Tile account. In this case, try to move to a different location together with the new 2022 Tile Mate, Tile Pro, Tile Slim or Tile Sticker and then try again.

10. If none of the aforementioned solutions help with the fixing the activation issues, then we recommend directly contacting the Customer Care Team at the official Tile website to get additional help.

Can you directly deactivate, delete and factory reset the 2022 Tile Mate, Pro, Slim and Sticker?

You won’t be able to directly deactivate, delete and/or factory reset your 2022 Tile tracker on your own.

However, transferring the Mate, Pro, Slim or Sticker to another smartphone or mobile device will deactivate and delete its current settings and your personal data.

Alternatively, you can try contacting the Custom Care Team at Tile to get them to delete the Tile from your account. If you are interested in doing so, then you can visit their official website with this link.

While you can let the battery run out of these trackers, doing so won’t factory reset them. Therefore, your settings and data will still be present once the batteries have been replaced.

How to transfer the 2022 Tile Mate, Pro, Slim and Sticker

To transfer the 2022 versions of the Tile Mate, Pro, Slim and Sticker in order to deactivate, delete and/or factory reset the tracker, you can take the following steps:

1. To begin, you will need another smartphone or mobile device.

2. On the new phone or device, you need to download and install the Tile app.

You can find this application on the Google Play Store on the Android operating system or the Apple App Store on the iOS.

3. Open the Tile app on the new phone or mobile device.

4. Set up a new Tile account with a new email on the new phone or mobile device.

5. Afterwards, open the Tile app on your current smartphone or mobile device.

6. Tap the Tile that you want to transfer.

7. Tap More Options.

8. Under the Actions section, tap Transfer Tile.

9. Enter the email previously set up in Step #4.

10. On your current phone or mobile device, you should see a “Transfer Complete” message.

The 2022 Tile Mate, Pro, Slim or Sticker will be deactivated and deleted from old Tile account as well as your current phone or mobile device. It should also be reset to its factory default settings.

11. The Tile tracker you transferred will now be tied to the new phone or mobile device. You will need to use the transfer feature again to move it back to the original phone or mobile device.

How to fix 2022 Tile Mate, Pro, Slim and Sticker connection issues

When trying to use the Tile app with your 2022 Tile Mate, Pro, Slim or Sticker, you may have issues trying to connect to these trackers.

To see how you can fix these Bluetooth problems, you can take a look at this troubleshooting guide from Seeking Tech.

1. To begin, make sure the smartphone and/or mobile device that have the Tile app installed is as closed to the Tile device as possible.

For the uninformed, the 2022 version of Tile Pro has a Bluetooth range of up to 400 feet or 120 meters. The 2022 versions of the Mate, Slim and Sticker have a maximum range of 250 feet or 76 meters.

2. The Bluetooth connection will be weaker outdoors when compared to indoors.

3. Walls, floors and other physical objects will also block the Bluetooth signals.

4. Any nearby wireless device may also cause interference with the Bluetooth connection as well.

5 Extreme temperatures may cause issues with these 2022 trackers. Therefore, make sure that they are used within a range of -10°C to 60°C (or 14°F to 140°F).

6. If you still can’t connect to your 2022 Tile Mate, Pro, Slim or Sticker after moving it closer and getting rid of any potential interference, then the next step we recommend taking is to close the Tile app on your phone or mobile device.

7. Next, we recommend restarting the smartphone or mobile device.

This will refresh your Bluetooth connection as well as clear out any potentially conflicts with other apps and processes.

8. After your phone or mobile device has been rebooted, open the Tile app once again.

9. Wait for at least two minutes for the Bluetooth connection to establish from your phone or mobile device to the 2022 Mate, Pro, Slim or Sticker.

10. If you still can’t connect the app to the tracker, then you can try testing the battery level of your Mate, Pro, Slim or Sticker by pressing the Tile button two times in quick succession. If there is battery life, then a tune should play.

If you don’t hear anything, then you need to replace the battery for the 2022 Tile Pro. To find out how you can swap out the replaceable battery for this lost item locator, you can take a look at this tutorial.

For the 2022 Tile Mate, Slim and Sticker trackers, you need to replace the entire device.

11. If you hear your tracker beeping five times, then it indicates that it still has battery life but can’t establish a connection.

12. If you hear the beeping noise, you can first make sure that the Bluetooth connection on your smartphone or mobile device is turned on.

13. You should also make sure that you enable Bluetooth permissions if you are using an Android phone or mobile device.

If you are using an iPhone or Apple mobile device, make sure you enable Bluetooth permissions for both the Tile app as well as the entire operating system.

14. For the iPhone or Apple mobile device, the Tile app must be opened if you want to connect to your 2022 Mate, Pro, Slim or Sticker.

How to fix ringing and sound issues with the 2022 Tile Mate, Pro, Slim and Sticker

When using the 2022 versions of the Tile Mate, Tile Pro, Tile Slim or Tile Sticker, you may experience issues with the Bluetooth tracker not ringing or making any sound.

To see how you can fix these issues, you can check out this troubleshooting guide from Seeking Tech.

1. The first step we recommend taking is to make sure the smartphone or mobile device you are using to track your 2022 Tile Mate, Pro, Slim or Sticker is within range.

For the uninformed, these trackers offer the following Bluetooth ranges:

  • 2022 Tile Pro: Up to 400 feet or 120 meters
  • 2022 Tile Mate: Up to 250 feet or 76 meters
  • 2022 Tile Slim: Up to 250 feet or 76 meters
  • 2022 Tile Sticker: Up to 250 feet or 76 meters

Keep in mind that the Bluetooth connection can diminish if there are any solid objects, such as walls or floors, in between the tracker and your phone/mobile device. Other wireless signals may also cause interference with the Bluetooth connection. Last but not least, Bluetooth signals are generally weaker outdoors when compared to indoors.

2. If you have no idea where your tracker is located, you can open the Tile app, select your device and then tap Location History.

You should now be able to see the history of the approximate location of your 2022 Tile Mate, Pro, Slim or Sticker. Tap the location and then the arrow icon on the top right corner of the menu to get directions on the last known location of the tracker.

3. If you believe that you are within the Bluetooth range of your tracker, then you need to open the Tile app on your smartphone or mobile device if you haven’t done so already.

From the front page of the app, tap your Tile device. You should then see a green circle surrounding your tracker.

If the circle is solid green, then it indicates that your 2022 Tile Mate, Pro, Slim or Sticker is within range and is currently connected to your smartphone or mobile device. You can tap the “Ring your Tile” to make a play an audio cue that will help you find its location.

If the circle is dotted green and spinning, then it indicates that the tracker is within range but is currently not connected to your phone or mobile device. In this case, you need to tap on the “Find” option to use the Tile Detector feature. In the next screen, use the outer rings, which will light up when you get closer, as an indicator to get closer to your lost tracker.

If the circle is dotted green and not spinning, then it indicates that you are within range of your lost tracker and is able to connect to it. Simply tap on the image of your Tile to connect. Afterwards, you should be able to use “Ring your Tile” feature.

4. If you still can’t get your 2022 Tile Mate, Pro, Slim or Sticker to ring, then make sure that the Bluetooth connection is enabled on the smartphone or mobile device where you have the Tile app installed.

5. If you are indoors trying to look for your lost tracker in multiple rooms, then we recommend that you wait at least two minutes in each new room to see if a Bluetooth connection can be established before trying to ring your lost tracker.
