How to fix DualShock 4 input lag on PS5

You are able to use the DualShock 4 controller on your PlayStation 5 or PlayStation 5 Digital Edition to play backwards compatible PS4 games, navigate the system menus as well as control media apps.

If you are experiencing input lag with this controller, then you can take a look at this troubleshooting article at Seeking Tech.

1. For the first step, you can try moving the controller closer to the PS5 console if it is far away.

2. You should also make sure that there aren’t any physical objects that may be blocking the line of sight in between the DualShock 4 and your gaming system as these may cause extra input delay.

3. Other wireless devices nearby could also interfere with the communication between the controller and PlayStation 5.

In this case, you can try turning off other Bluetooth devices to see if doing so will reduce the latency.

4. Some PlayStation 4 games come with a performance mode that lets you play at a higher frame rate.

By enabling it, you should be able to notice lower delay when it comes to the button presses on the DualShock 4 and the corresponding actions that appear on the screen.

5. On your television set, make sure you have Game Mode, or a similar mode, enabled. This picture setting should lower the input lag of connected consoles like the PlayStation 5 or PlayStation 5 Digital Edition.

6. You can also check the video connection between your gaming system and the TV or monitor. Make sure that it is a direct connection as HDMI splitters or pass-through devices may add lag to the video.

7. You should make sure that your PS5 has been updated to the latest firmware as well if you haven’t done so already.

To update manually, make sure that your console is connected to the PlayStation Network and then go to Settings > System > System Software > System Software Update and Settings > Update System Software.

8. You can try updating the PS4 game to see if doing so will make it more responsive.

To do so on your PS5, you need to take the following steps:

  • You first need to go to the home screen, which you can get to by long pressing the PS button on your controller.
  • From there, move the cursor over to the PS4 game and then press the Options button.
  • Finally, you need to select the Check for Update option in the pop-up menu to see if there is a new patch available to download.

9. If possible, you can try using a different screen as some TVs and monitors perform better than others when it comes to input lag reduction.

10. Some PlayStation 4 games may end up with issues, including extra latency, when played on a PS5 console.

In this case, you can try playing PS4 games on a PlayStation 4 or PlayStation 4 Pro system to see if you are getting the same input delay length.

How to fix WS-113979-0 error code on PS5

If you are using the PlayStation Store on your PlayStation 5 or PlayStation 5 gaming system, you may encounter the following error code:

  • “WS-113979-0. Something went wrong.”

To see how you can potentially get rid of this error message, you can check out this troubleshooting guide at Seeking Tech.

1. For the first step, you can try repeating your action to see if it goes through in the new attempt.

You should be extra careful if you are encountering the WS-113979-0 error when confirming a purchase as you don’t want to be charged twice. So, before, you retry buying a digital product from the PlayStation Store, make sure you check your transaction history first.

You can do so by going back to the front page of the PlayStation Store and then selecting the three dots on the top right side. You should then select the Transaction History option. In the next several screens, make sure you select the email that is linked to the PlayStation Network account you are using to make a purchase on the PS Store. You should also make sure you set the date range to when you may have potentially made your purchase.

If the transaction history shows that you have made your purchase but you can’t download the game or DLC, then you need to contact Sony to get it sort out.

If the transaction history shows that no purchase has been made, then you can try buying the product again on the store.

2. Logging out of your PlayStation Network account and then logging back in may also help fix the WS-113979-0 error code.

To do so, you can simply restart your PS5 console by doing the following:

  • Press the PS button on the controller to open the Control Center quick menu.
  • From the quick menu, select the Power option, which you can find on the bottom right side.
  • After opening the Power menu, select the Restart PS5 option.

3. If you are still seeing the same error code, then you can try power cycling your modem and router by taking the following steps:

  • Turn off your PS5.
  • Turn off your modem and router.
  • Wait for several minutes.
  • Turn your modem and router back on.
  • Wait for your internet connection to go back online.
  • Turn your PS5 back on and log in to your PSN account.
  • Use the PlayStation Store to see if the WS-113979-0 message will still show up.

4. There is a possibility that the PlayStation Store servers could be overloaded, which usually occurs during the holiday season, especially at Christmas when new PS5 consoles are being powered on.

To see the current state of the PlayStation Store servers, you can check out this link.

If there appears to be something wrong with the servers, then there is nothing you can do but to wait until Sony fixes the issues on their end.

How to fix CE-11280-6 error code on PS5

When using the PlayStation Store on your PlayStation 5 or PlayStation 5 Digital Edition console, you may encounter the following error code:

“CE-11280-6. Can’t load. Something went wrong. Please try again later.”

You can check out this troubleshooting guide from Seeking Tech to see how you can potentially fix this issue and get the PS Store to load without any problems.

1. If you are seeing the CE-11280-6 error when trying to make a purchase on the PS Store, then the first step we recommend taking is to check your transaction history.

In order to do so, you need to take the following steps:

  • Go back to the front page of the PlayStation Store and then select the three dots icon on the top right side.
  • In the pop-up window, you should then select Transaction History.
  • Next, select the email you used on current PlayStation Network account.
  • On the next screen, you will be asked to pick the date range. Make sure the end date is the current date if you want to view your most recent transaction.

  • If the transaction history shows that you made your purchase, then the game or expansion pack should be added to your library already. You should be able to download it by visiting the product page on the PlayStation Store.
  • If you can’t download the content you bought, then we recommend contacting Sony.

2. If you aren’t able to make a purchase, or you are trying to do something else on the store when you encounter the CE-11280-6 error message, then you can try restarting your PS5 system.

By restarting, you will sign out and then sign back in to your PSN account, which may help you get a better connection to the PlayStation Store.

3. There may also be a problem with your home networking setup.

If you believed that this is the case, then you can try power cycling the modem and router by unplugging them from the power outlets, waiting for several minutes, and then plug them back into the power sources.

Once your home network has power cycled and gone back online again, try to use the PlayStation Store on your PS5 to see if the CE-11280-6 error has gone away.

4. The issues may not be related to your internet at all. Instead, there could be a problem with the PlayStation Network servers. This is common during Christmas and other holidays where a lot of people are logging into PSN in order to buy digital products on the PlayStation Store and/or play games online.

You can check to see if the servers are suffering from problems by visiting the PlayStation Status page.

If there seems to be a problem, then you need to wait until Sony fixes it on their end before you can try using the PlayStation Store again.
