You can now use the Variable Refresh Rate feature of the PlayStation 5 and PlayStation 5 Digital Edition systems on your Samsung Q70T, Q80T or Q90T television set.

To find out how you can use VRR, which will help remove stutters and screen tearing, you can take a look at this article from Seeking Tech.

This guide will be covering all screen sizes of the 2020 Samsung Q70T, Q80T and Q90T series, which should include the following sets:

1. If you haven’t done so already, make sure that you updated the firmware of your Q70T, Q80T or Q90T to the latest version. The newest release may improve the compatibility and/or performance of the Variable Refresh Rate feature.

2. Of course, you should also make sure that you updated your PlayStation 5 or PlayStation 5 Digital Edition to the latest available firmware as VRR was just added recently.

3. If you haven’t done so already, connect your PS5 game system by using the included HDMI 2.1 cable to the HDMI 2.1 port of your Q70T, Q80T or Q90T television set.

4. Turn on your game console and your TV.

5. Switch over to the input that is displaying your PlayStation 5 if your television set is showing a different source when turned on.

6. Press the settings button on your TV remote to open the TV settings menu.

7. You then need to select General.

8. From the General submenu, select External Device Manager.

9. In the External Device Manager submenu, select Input Signal Plus.

10. Next, you need to select the HDMI input that is connected to your PS5 in order to take advantage of the full HDMI 2.1 bandwidth for Variable Refresh Rate.

11. Afterwards, go back to the External Device Manager submenu and then select Game Mode Settings.

12. In the Game Mode Settings submenu, make sure that Game Mode is set to Auto.

13. On your PlayStation 5, head over to the Settings menu by selecting the gear icon on the top right side in the home screen.

14. Inside the Settings menu, you need to go to Screen and Video.

15. You then need to select Video Output from the left column of the Screen and Video submenu.

16. On the right side of the Screen and Video submenu, you need to select VRR.

If you don’t see the VRR setting, then you can check out this troubleshooting article.

17. Make sure that VRR is set to Automatic.

18. You may also want to enable Apply to Unsupported Games as doing so will force Variable Refresh Rate support for videogames that don’t natively take advantage of VRR. This setting may end up causing issues, however.

19. To see whether or not your Q70T, Q80T or Q90T is using VRR, press the info button while you are playing a videogame on your PlayStation 5 system.

You should see FreeSync (VRR) appear on the top right side of the screen if it is currently being used by your TV.

Compatible low profile fixed wall mount

If you want a simple, immovable mount that won’t cause your Q80T to stick out too much, then we recommend picking up the VIVO Black Extra Large Heavy Duty TV Wall Mount Bracket. When installed, your television set will sit just 1.25″ from the wall. It is also designed to allow for more airflow to stop the TV from potentially overheating.

The mounting bracket supports the 200 mm x 200 mm VESA pattern of the 49″ and 55″, 400 mm x 300 mm VESA pattern of the 65″, 400 mm x 400 mm VESA pattern of the 75″ in addition to the 600 mm x 400 mm VESA pattern of the 85″ of the Samsung Q80T series. The maximum weight capacity is 165 pounds, so it should be more than sturdy enough for the heaviest television in the series.

For installation, all the necessary hardware, including a level tool, are included with the package of the VIVO Extra Large Heavy Duty Wall Mount.

Compatible tilting wall mount

You might want to consider having the ability to tilt your Q80T as well. Tilting will change the viewing angle, which is helpful at preventing glare especially if you are planning to mount your television very high on your wall.

If you are interested in doing so, we recommend getting the Sanus VLT6 Advanced Tilt Premium TV Wall Mount. By installing the Q80T onto it, you will be able to extend your television outwards by 5.7″. As a result, you have plenty of room to tilt the TV.

The Sanus Advanced Mounting Bracket is compatible with the VESA patterns of the 49″, 55″, 65″, 75″ and 85″ Samsung Q80T TVs. Its weight limit is 150 pounds, so it can comfortably hold any of the screen size in the series.

When it comes to installation, the VLT6 uses an open wall plate design to give you easy access to the back of the television set. You can also easily adjust the TV post installation to make it look more centered and balanced. Last but not least, the mounting bracket will also let you padlock your TV to prevent theft.

If you want maximum flexibility for the Samsung QLED Q80T TV, then the best option is the PERLESMITH Full Motion TV Wall Mount Bracket. The TV can also be extended from 3.07 inches to all the way up to 32.62 inches, giving you plenty of room to swivel your set 60 degrees to the left or right.

The PERLESMITH Full Motion Wall Mount supports all of the Q80T’s VESA patterns. It can also hold televisions that weigh up to 165 pounds.

The product comes with all the hardware needed to install the mounting bracket. You can either mount it on a concrete wall or wooden studs. For the studs, you will need spacing of 16 inches, 18 inches or 24 inches. You can also adjust the TV after installation if it looked a little crooked.
