This video compares PSSR2 to Checkerboard upscaling when it comes to Resident Evil 4 Remake running on the PlayStation 5 Pro.
PSSR2 is enabled via the Enhance PSSR Image Quality toggle on the console’s settings. Afterwards, you need to enable High Frame Rate mode in the settings of Resident Evil 4.
To use Checkerboard, you need to turn off the High Frame Rate mode.
For this comparison, Visual/Action Priority has been set to Resolution with the Hair Strands and Ray Tracing settings enabled. Lens Distortion and Depth of Field are disabled.

PSSR2 provides better image quality than Checkerboard. This is most apparent when you look at the hair strands, which are more defined with the updated PSSR.
Along with a better frame rate, the High Frame Rate mode with the Enhance PSSR Image Quality toggle enabled is the best way to play this game on PS5 Pro.
