NubiaPhobia on PS5 Pro: Mini Review After Earning the Platinum Trophy

I recently got a chance to play NubiaPhobia, thanks to a review copy from Sometimes You.

You can find my complete playthrough, including obtaining the platinum trophy, below:

You can also check out my mini-review below:

Pros:

  • Beginner friendly adventure game.
  • Some funny moments.
  • Easy trophies.

Cons:

  • Pointer controls, even when moving.

Overall:

NubiaPhobia is an adventure-puzzle hybrid game similar to the classic LucasArts adventure games such as Monkey Island.

If you played similar titles before, then you should know that the games can be quite difficult when it comes to figuring out what to do.

Thankfully, NubiaPhobia is very beginner friendly as you can only interact with a handful of characters and items in every zone. So, you don’t have to waste time looking up a solution to an obscure puzzle.

NubiaPhoia also has quirkiness to it when it comes to dark, and often violent, comedic elements. While not all of the jokes land, some of them are pretty funny.

The game is pretty short, lasting a couple of hours at most. The trophy list is also simple, since you only need to beat the game to get the platinum trophy.

The only real negative is the pointer controls, which forces you to use the left analog stick as a mouse pointer. This can lead to some awkwardness, especially when moving your character around.

Overall, NubiaPhoia is a fun and short adventure game that is friendly for casual players. If you think that the standard price tag is too expensive for its short length, then you can always wait for it to go on sale.
