How to fix brightness and color issues with Q70A, Q80A, QN85A and QN90A

If you have the Q70A, Q80A, QN85A or QN90A television set, then you may have encountered issues with its brightness and/or colors looking off.

You can check out this troubleshooting guide at Seeking Tech to find some potential fixes to these problems.

How to use the self diagnosis tool on Q70A, Q80A, QN85A and QN90A

The first step we recommend taking is to test the picture quality of the television.

The 2021 Samsung QLED television sets have a self diagnosis feature where you can test the screen. To access it, you can do the following:

1. Press the Home button on the remote that comes with your TV.

2. Go to Settings.

3. Go to Support.

4. Go to Device Care.

5. Go to Self Diagnosis.

6. Go to Picture Test.

If you see nothing wrong with the picture test, then display issues could be related to the external device connected to your television set.

If you believe that your problems are related to the connected device, make sure that the cable or cables connecting the device to your television set are connected correctly and aren’t loose. You can also try changing the settings on the external device.

If you are having off-looking brightness and/or colors when playing the PlayStation 5, you can check out the following guides at Seekign Tech:

If the picture test shows that something is wrong with your television set, you can try resetting the picture settings, disabling the brightness optimization setting, adjusting the contrast settings, adjusting the brightness settings, adjusting the sharpness settings, adjusting the color settings and/or adjusting the tint (G/R) settings.

How to reset the picture settings

To reset the picture settings on the Q70A, Q80A, QN85A and QN90A, you need to do the following:

1. Press the Home button on the remote control.

2. Head to Settings.

3. Head to Picture.

4. Head to Expert Settings.

5. Select Reset Picture.

6. Re-test your television set by using the aforementioned self diagnostic tool.

How to disable Brightness Optimization

You need to take the following steps to disable the Brightness Optimization on the Q70A, Q80A, QN85A and QN90A:

1. Push the Home button on the remote.

2. Go to Settings.

3. Go to General.

4. Go to Power and Energy Saving.

5. Go to Brightness Optimization.

6. Test your TV again by using the self diagnostic tool.

How to adjust contrast, brightness, sharpness, color and tint (G/R)

To adjust the contrast, brightness, sharpness, color and tint (G/R) levels for these 2021 Samsung television sets, you need to do the following:

1. With the remote that came with your Samsung TV, press the Home button.

2. Select Settings.

3. Select Picture.

4. Select Expert Settings.

5. In this menu, you can select contrast, brightness, sharpness, color and tint (G/R) levels.

We recommend adjusting one of these settings at a time and then using the self diagnostic tool to re-test your television set.

If adjusting one of the settings did not resolve the brightness and/or color issues, then you can try another setting from the aforementioned Expert Settings menu.
