Therefore, you should repeat these steps over and over again to improve the accuracy of the fingerprint unlock. Keep in mind that you can also delete other fingerprint profiles as well if you need additional adjustments after reaching the maximum amount.

In order to go into safe mode when you phone is turned off, you need to do the following:

  • Press the power button to start the boot up process.

  • Keep holding the volume down button until the phone boots up in safe mode.

You should see the “Safe mode” words appear on the bottom left corner.

2. If the random restarts and/or shut downs are still occurring even in safe mode then you can skip ahead to step #4.

If using safe mode resolve these issues, then an app, or a combination of apps, may be the cause.

If you think an app is causing the random reboots and shutdowns, then we recommend either updating, closing or deleting apps.

To perform any of these actions, you first need to make sure to reboot your Pixel 6 or Pixel 6 Pro in order to exit Safe Mode. You can reboot by pressing the power and volume up button. You then need to tap the Restart option that appear on the screen.

To update apps, you need to take the following steps:

  • Tap the Google Play Store app.
  • Tap you profile picture on the top right of the screen.
  • In your profile menu, select Manage apps & device.
  • Finally, tap the Update all option under Updates available.

To close an app, you can do the following:

  • Tap the Settings app. If you don’t have the Settings app on the Home Screen, you can swipe upwards from an empty space to see a list of apps you have currently installed on the phone. You should find the Settings app there.
  • Next, tap Apps.
  • In the Apps menu, tap See all apps.
  • Select an app from the All apps list.
  • In the App info menu, tap Force stop.

To delete an app, you can take the following steps:

  • Open the Settings app.
  • Inside the Settings app, tap Apps.

  • In the All apps menu, you should see a list of apps you have currently installed.
  • Tap the app you want to delete.

  • In the next screen, tap Check for update. If there is a new firmware available, follow the instructions on-screen to download and install the new update.

5. If you are still experiencing random resets or shutdowns, you can try factory resetting the Pixel 6 or Pixel 6 Pro.

To do so, you need to take the following steps:

  • Open the Settings app.
  • In Settings, select Google.
  • In the Google menu, select Backup.
  • Inside Backup, select Back up now.
  • After backing up the data on your phone, go back to the Settings app.
  • This time, select System.
  • Inside System, select Reset options.
  • Inside the Reset options menu, select Erase all data (factory reset).

  • Pixel 5a with 5G: FHD+ (1080 x 2400) 413 ppi OLED
  • Pixel 6: FHD+ (1080 x 2340) 411 ppi OLED
  • Pixel 6 Pro: QHD+ (1440 x 3120) 512 ppi LTPO OLED

While OLED provides a stellar image quality, it is also more prone to screen burn-ins when compared to other screen types.

1. One of the precautionary steps you can take is to make sure the sleep timer is set to a relatively short time.

In order to do so, you can do the following:

  • Open the Settings app on your Pixel 5a with 5G, Pixel 6 or Pixel 6 Pro. You can do so by swiping downwards from the top. You may have to swipe downwards again to be able to tap Settings, which has a gear cog icon.

In order to prevent these phones from overheating, you can do the following:

1. First off, you should make sure that you are using the Pixel 6 or Pixel 6 Pro within the recommended ambient operating temperature range of 0°C to 35°C (32°F to 95°F).

2. When you aren’t using your phone, the recommended ambient storage temperature range is -20°C to 45°C (or -4°F to 113°F).

3. Google also recommends that you don’t expose your phone, whether you are using it or not, at temperatures that are above 45°C (or 113°F) as doing so will overheat the internal battery and may even start a fire or explosion.

4. Avoid putting your phone near any heat sources such as radiator, car dashboard and direct sunlight.

5. You should also avoid putting the Pixel 6 or Pixel 6 Pro in direct contact with your body when it starts to feel too hot to touch.

6. Furthermore, avoid storing or using your phone in enclosed spaces (such as under a blanket, under a pillow or inside a car with the windows rolled during a hot day).

7. Try not to open too many apps, videos, games and/or other media.

8. The torch setting, video recording, virtual reality feature and augmented reality feature can also generate a lot of heat.

9. Video calls will also heat up your phone.

10. Using the Wi-Fi connection to stream, download, upload and tether will also increase the temperature of the Pixel 6 phones.

11. Moreover, downloading and uploading over mobile data will generate heat as well.

12. Using Bluetooth may also raise the temperature.

13. If you are using your phone and recharging its internal battery at the same time, then that is going to build up the temperature.

14. If you are using a Qi-compliant or Google-approved wireless charger then any metal or magnetic objects in between the phone and charger could cause the Pixel 6 or Pixel 6 Pro to overheat.

15. Set the screen brightness low to medium.

How to fix overheating issues with Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro

If you feel like your Google Pixel 6 or Google Pixel 6 Pro is getting warmer and warmer, you can try doing the following to cool it down:

1. If your smartphone is currently charging, unplug it from the charger. Do not charge it again until the phone cools down.

2. For wireless recharging, look for and remove any metal or magnetic objects in between the phone and charger.

3. Close any apps, games, videos and any other media types you might be using.

What happens when your Pixel 6 and Pixel 6 Pro overheats?

If you do nothing when your Google Pixel 6 or Google Pixel 6 Pro start to rise in temperature, your phone will automatically take the following actions:

1. Slow down its performance.

2. Slow down the recharging battery process.

3. Disable the camera flash.

4. Turn off the camera.

5. Fully or partially disable Wi-Fi.

6. Fully or partially disable mobile data.

If your Pixel 6 or Pixel 6 Pro continues to rise even after the aforementioned automatic actions, then an overheating warning will show up on your smartphone’s screen. The phone will then automatically shut down. If this happens, wait until your Pixel 6 or Pixel 6 Pro drop in temperature before turning it back on again.
