I recently got a chance to play through Shockwave Triggers on the PlayStation 5 Pro, thanks to a review copy provided by easstasiasoft.
You can find my platinum trophy playthrough below:
Trophy Guide and Road Map:
Step 1:
Best the first level in Bullet Normal mode. This should unlock the Hi-Scorer! trophy by getting a score of at least 30,000. By killing the first enemy, you should unlock the First victim trophy. By beating the first boss, you should also unlock the OH MY RED! trophy.
Step 2:
Restart the game in the Bullet Challenge mode and complete all six stages. Beating the bosses in Bullet Challenge mode will also unlock the boss trophies from the Bullet Normal mode as well.
If you run out of credits, then you can spend the green crystals you earned from the Game Shop at the Bonus menu to buy extra credits. With enough credits, you should be able to eventually beat all six stages.
The following trophies should unlock by beating all stages in Bullet Challenge mode:
- OH MY RED! – Defeat the first boss on Bullet Normal difficulty.
- Hi-Scorer! (Pro) – Get above 50,000 score on Bullet Challenge difficulty.
- OH MY RED! (Pro) – Defeat the first boss on Bullet Challenge difficulty.
- OH MY BLUE! – Defeat the second boss on Bullet Normal difficulty.
- OH MY BLUE! (Pro) – Defeat the second boss on Bullet Challenge difficulty.
- OH MY YELLOW! – Defeat the third boss on Bullet Normal difficulty.
- OH MY YELLOW! (Pro) – Defeat the third boss on Bullet Challenge difficulty.
- OH MY GREEN! – Defeat the fourth boss on Bullet Normal difficulty.
- OH MY GREEN! (Pro) – Defeat the fourth boss on Bullet Challenge difficulty.

- OH MY PURPLE! (Pro) – Defeat the fifth boss on Bullet Challenge difficulty.
- OH MY WHITE! – Defeat the sixth boss on Bullet Normal difficulty.
- OH MY WHITE! (Pro) – Defeat the sixth boss on Bullet Challenge difficulty.
Step 3:
The following trophies may unlock naturally as you try to beat the game. If they don’t, then make sure to clean them up:
- Everyone dies! – Get better at it!
- SHOCKWAVER! – Perform 30 shockwaves!
- DETERMINED. – Use 20 credits!
You can find my mini review of Shockwave Triggers below:
Pros:
- Intense vertical shoot-em-up with unique shockwave mechanics.
- Two distinct playable characters.
- Two player local co-op.
Cons:
- Stages may sometime fail to load.
Overall:
Shockwave Triggers is a vertical shoot-em-up. What make this game distinct from the rest is the shockwave mechanic.
Every time you destroy an enemy or enemy part, a shockwave is created that will destroy any enemy bullets. You can also use the shockwave via a special attack.
The game features two playable character: Amira is faster and her special shockwave attack is more defensive focused, while Turbo B is slower and his shockwave attack is more offensive. The two are distinct enough that different strategies are required.
While Shockwave Triggers feature six short stages, you will unlikely to beat all the levels the first time through due to the limited number of starting credits. By collecting green crystals, you are able to buy extra credits, so you should be able to beat the game eventually, whether by skill, attrition, or a little bit of both.
Even after you beat the game, there are plenty of replay value thanks to the five difficulty modes, game shop unlocks, as well as a two-player local co-op mode.
The only real issue with the game is that it will sometimes fail to load a stage. I had to quit back to the main menu, which means I have to play through the entire game again to get back to where I was. Hopefully, a patch will fix this issue.
Outside of that, Shockwave Triggers is an extremely fun vertical shoot-em-up with cool shockwave mechanic. If you are a SHUMP fan, then don’t miss out on this release.
