Yomawari: Night Alone on PS5 Pro: First Impressions

I recently got a chance to play around 90 minutes of Yomawari: Night Alone on the PlayStation 5 Pro, thanks to a review copy provided by NIS America.

You can find my gameplay video, along with my first impressions, below:

Pros:

  • Creepy small-town atmosphere.
  • Heartbeat mechanic adds to tension.

Cons:

  • None.

Overall:

Yomawari: Night Alone was first released in 2015 for the PlayStation Vita. After more than a decade, the game has now been ported over to the PlayStation 5 as part of Yomawari: The Long Night Collection.

In Night Alone, you play as a young girl trying to find her missing dog and older sister. In order to do so, she must explore a creepy small town at night. The street aren’t abandoned, however, as many monsters are ready to attack the protagonist.

Since you can’t fight back, your only chance for survival is to run and find hiding places. Once you hide, you need to wait until you see a small opening before you can run into a safer area.

The game uses a heartbeat system where you can hear your heart rate increasing whenever an enemy is nearby. When the enemy gets closer, your heart will beat faster, adding to the tension.

Yomawari: Night Alone ended up being a cult hit survivor horror game on the PlayStation Vita. If you missed out on the game before, then now is your chance to pick it up on the PS5 via the Yomawari: The Long Night Collection.
