I recently got a chance to play around the fist 90 minutes of Yomawari: Midnight Shadows on the PlayStation 5 Pro, thanks to a review copy provided by NIS America.
You can watch my gameplay video below:
You can also find my first impressions of the game below:
Pros:
- Huge graphical leap.
- Bigger and more gameplay variety compared to first game.
Cons:
- None.
Overall:
Yomawari: Midnight Shadows originally came out for the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation Vita in 2017. Nine years later, the game is now available natively on the PlayStation 5 via the Yomawari: The Long Night Collection.
The sequel to the first game features a huge graphical leap as the environment is a lot more detailed. The creepy and unsettling atmosphere also got a nice boost.
Midnight Shadows is also a much bigger game when compared to the first as the new town is twice as big. Not to mention that there are more interior environments, such as the library, to explore as well.
Furthermore, the sequel adds a bit of variety to the gameplay with two playable characters, a charm system with stat boosts, more hiding places, and more disturbing monsters.
So, while the original was already a great game, the sequel is shaping up to be an even better horror experience.
Luckily, both of the first two games in the series are included in Yomawari: The Long Night Collection. If you are a survivor horror fan, then you shouldn’t miss out on this bundle.
