I recently got a chance to play through the Thunder Hoop Collection on the PlayStation 5 Pro, thanks to a review copy provided by QUByte Classics.
You can find my platinum trophy walkthrough below:
Trophy Guide and Road Map:
To unlock all the trophies in the collection, you need to beat both games in Thunder Hoop Collection. This can be done at any difficulty level with cheats and rewind enabled.
Just make sure you pick up the power ups along the way to unlock their specific trophies. I was able to get all the power-ups in Thunder Hoop by the middle of Stage 2. I unlock all the power-ups quickly in Thunder Hoop Strikes Back in Stage 1.
You can also check out my mini review of the collection below:
Pros:
- Fun run-and-gun arcade action.
- Cheats, rewind and save states.
- Multiple difficulty levels.
Cons:
- None.
Overall:
Thunder Hoop Collection from QUByte Classics comes with two classic arcade games: Thunder Hoop (1992) and Thunder Hoop Strikes Back (1994).
Both of these are run-and-gun titles, with Thunder Hoop being a little bit more of a platformer while its sequel focuses more on straight up action.
In terms of emulation, the collection includes multiple display options such as the screen fit, background and filter. You can also enable cheats, rewind, and save states.
Aside from some occasional platforming quirks, both Thunder Hoop and Thunder Hoop Strikes Back (also known as TH Strikes Back) holds up quite well by today’s standard as the controls and character movement are smooth and fluid.
Overall, Thunder Hoop and Thunder Hoop Strikes Back are both fun run-and-gun arcade games. With multiple difficulty levels, along with co-op support for the second game, there are plenty of replay value as well. If you are a fan of 2D run-and-gun, then the Thunder Hoop Collection is a must play.
