How to prevent and fix Thrustmaster T-GT 2 calibration issues

When you are using the Thrustmaster T-GT 2, you may notice that the racing wheel or pedals may not be functioning normally.

You can check out this troubleshooting guide at Seeking Tech to see how you can prevent and fix these calibration issues.

How to prevent Thrustmaster T-GT II calibration issues

In order to prevent calibration issues with the T-GT 2, you can take the following precautionary steps:

1. Make sure you assemble the wheel and floor pedal units of Thrustmaster T-GT II correctly.

2. You need to connect the included floor pedal unit first to the wheel before connecting the wheel to the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5 or PC.

3. Do not touch the wheel or pedals at all when the Thrustmaster T-GT 2 is self-calibrating.

You can tell if this accessory is calibrating when the wheel rotates quickly to the left and then right at 1080 degrees. Eventually it will stop at the center, which should signal the end of the calibration process.

This calibration process occurs when you plug the T-GT II into the power outlet and then the PS4, PS5 or PC system. You may also have to press the PS button on the wheel to turn it on.

The wheel may also re-calibrate when you start up a compatible racing game. You can find a list of T-GT II supported games with this link.

After the wheel has been calibrated, you can then press the pedals a few times to calibrate them.

4. You may also want to avoid moving the wheel or pedals when a game is loading as it may cause accuracy issues.

5. Do not disconnect the pedals from the wheel and/or the wheel from your PS4, PS5 or PC system when the system is turned on.

6. Do not make any changes to the T-GT II when it is powered on. This should include the following actions you need to avoid:

  • Switching the wheel from “GT” mode to “Other” mode.
  • Adjusting the height of the pedals.
  • Adjusting the inclination of the pedals.
  • Adjusting the spacing of the pedals.
  • Installing the canonical rubber break mod.
  • Dissembling the wheel.
  • Dissembling the pedals.
  • Assembling the wheel.
  • Assembling the pedals.

How to fix Thrustmaster T-GT 2 calibration issues

In order to fix calibration issues with the Thrustmaster T-GT II, you will need to recalibrate this accessory by taking the following steps:

1. Turn off the PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5 or PC system your wheel is connected to.

2. Unplug the wheel from the system.

3. Unplug the wheel from the power outlet.

4. Unplug the pedal set from the wheel.

5. If you want to make any changes to the Thrustmaster T-GT 2, then this is the opportunity to do so.

If you are planning to use this wheel with Gran Turismo Sport, you need to switch to “GT” mode. For other compatible racing games, you need to use the “Other” mode.

For the pedals, you can adjust the height, inclination and spacing. You can also add or remove the canonical rubber break mod.

Every time you want to make changes to the wheel and/or pedals, make sure you perform Steps #1 through #4 or you may run into calibration issues.

6. Once you are done with many any potential changes to the wheel and/or pedals, connect the pedal set back to your wheel.

7. Next, connect the wheel to the power outlet.

8. You then need to connect the wheel to your PS4, PS5 or PC system.

9. With everything connected, turn on your system.

10. You may also need to press the PS button on the wheel to also turn on the T-GT II.

11. Your wheel may start to automatically calibrate. During this process, do not touch the wheel or pedals at all. Otherwise, you will need to start the re-calibration process all over again.

12. After the calibration has completed (the wheel should stop at the middle), press down on all of the pedals to calibrate them.

13. Open a compatible racing game on your system.

13. The wheel may re-calibrate again when starting a game. If this happens, you should avoid touching the wheel and pedals when the wheel is moving on its own.

14. Once the wheel has stopped moving, press the pedals a few times to calibrate the pedals.

15. The calibration should be complete and the Thrustmaster T-GT 2 should start working correctly.
