How to turn off Google Pixel Buds A-Series

The Google Pixel Buds A-Series doesn’t have a traditional method where you can turn both earbuds completely off. Instead, you should be able to put them to sleep to save on battery life. In order to do so, you can check out this step-by-step guide at Seeking Tech.

Method #1: Using the Charging Case

The first method is relatively simple as you simply need to remove both earbuds from your ears and then place them into the charging case. This will disconnect the buds from your connected device. If your charging case still have some battery capacity, then this will also recharge the Pixel Buds A-Series when you close the top of the case.

Make sure you place the ear buds in the correct compartments of the charging case. They should snap into place thanks to the magnets.

To turn your Pixel Buds back on, simply put both earbuds back into your ears and they should automatically connect to your device.

Method #2: Disconnecting the Google Pixel Buds A-Series

You can also disconnect the Google Pixel Buds A-Series through the Bluetooth menu on the connected device.

For example, if you have a Google Pixel 6 of Google Pixel 6 Pro, you can do the following:

1. Go to the Settings app.

2. Inside of Settings, select the “Connected devices” option.

3. In the “Connected devices” menu, select the cog wheel icon to the right of your Pixel Buds A-Series.

4. After getting to the “Device details” menu of your Google Pixel Buds A-Series, select the Disconnect option. This will disconnect your earbuds and put them to sleep. 

5. After disconnecting your wireless buds, we recommend placing them into the charging case for safe storage. Not to mention that the case will also recharge your buds.

6. If you want to turn the Pixel Buds A-Series back on again after disconnecting it from your device, make sure to put the buds back into your ears. Afterwards, go back to the aforementioned “Connected devices” menu on your device and then select Pixel Buds A-Series.

If you see a blinking or bouncing white light when the charging case is opened, then that means that your Bluetooth ear buds are currently in pairing mode. Therefore, you should be able to find the Pixel Buds A-Series from the list of devices on the Bluetooth menu of the device you are trying to pair it to.

If you see the indicator alternating between the white and orange lights, then that means that the Google Pixel Buds A-Series is trying to pair with another device but can’t as one of the ear buds is not properly inserted into the charging case.

If this is happening to you, then you should take out the buds and then make sure that they are correctly inserted into their designated compartments. The ear buds should snap into place if you inserted them correctly.

When you close the top of the Google Pixel Buds A-Series, then you may see a solid white light coming from the indicator. This means that the battery of the charging case is full or is full enough to recharge at least one of the ear buds to full capacity.

If you see a solid orange light when closing the charging case, then that indicates that the case is currently recharging the ear buds.

If you see the indicator blinking an orange color three times in quick succession, then it means that charging case has less than 20% of battery life left. As a result, it won’t be able to fully recharge the batteries of your ear buds.

In this case, you need to recharge the charging case.

  • Avoid using the earbuds outside of the recommended operating temperature range of 32°F to 95°F (or 0°C to 35°C).
  • You should also avoid storing your earbuds outside of the recommended non-operating temperature range of -4°F to 113°F (or –20°C to 45°C).
  • Do not place the Pixel Buds A-Series near any heating vents.
  • Do not put the wireless earbuds on your car’s dashboard during a hot day.
  • When recharging, make sure that the charging case is in a well-ventilated environment.
  • Do not cover the case when it is recharging.
  • Avoid using a damaged case and other damaged charging accessories when recharging the internal batteries of your earbuds.
  • You should also move the case away from direct sunlight contact when recharging your Bluetooth earbuds.
  • Do not sleep on your Pixel Buds A-Series.
  • Do not wear your earbuds when you are sleeping.

If the internal temperature of your Google Pixel Buds A-Series continues to rise, then then the devices may automatically take the following actions:

  • Reduce performance
  • Reduce Bluetooth connectivity
  • Disable battery charging
  • Turn off

How to fix an overheated Pixel Buds A-Series

In order to fix an overheated Pixel Buds A-Series, you can take the following steps:

1. If you are still wearing your earbuds, make sure you take them off.

2. If you are recharging your earbuds, then you should also remove the earbuds from the charging case.

3. Move the earbuds and the charging case into a cooler environment away from any heat sources and direct sunlight.

4. Wait for at least several minutes to let the Pixel Buds A-Series and its charging case cool down.

5. If you feel that both the earbuds and case have cooled down enough, you can try using both again.

What is the water resistance for Google Pixel Buds A-Series?

Based on the IEC standard 60529, the water protection rating for the Google Pixel Buds A-Series is IPX4. This means that your earbuds should be protected against water splashed from any direction.

With that said, your earbuds will most likely lose it water protection over time due to normal wear and tear. Taking apart the earbuds or other types of damages will further decrease its ability to protect against splashes as well.

Therefore, we don’t recommend exposing your earbuds to any liquids as they will get easily damaged. You should also avoid using the Pixel Buds A-Series in places that have high humidity.
