Before we begin, it is important to note that Starfield is currently available on five platforms:
- Xbox Series X
- Xbox Series S
- Microsoft Store (PC)
- Steam (PC)
- Xbox Cloud Gaming (Streaming)
Is Starfield an Xbox Play Anywhere title?
Starfield is classified as an Xbox Play Anywhere, which means that if you bought the game on Xbox or through the Microsoft Store, you would get access to the following versions:
- Xbox Series X
- Xbox Series S
- Microsoft Store (PC)
For Xbox Cloud Streaming, you will need to subscribe to Xbox Game Pass Premium.
If you bought Starfield on Steam, then you won’t be able to gain access to the other versions of the same game.
Can you play Starfield at the same time on different platforms?
If you purchase the Xbox Play Anywhere version of Starfield, then you are able to play the game on different platforms.
Keep in mind that the purchase is tied to your Microsoft account, however. Therefore, you won’t be able to play Starfield at the same time on different devices with you are signed into the same Microsoft Account.
Does Starfield support game sharing on Xbox?
The Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S versions of Starfield supports game sharing. This feature allows you, or a different person, to use a different Microsoft Account when playing the game on the same console.
To unlock game sharing, open the Settings menu of your Series X or Series S and then select General > Personalization > My home Xbox > Make this my home Xbox.
How cross save and achievements work in Starfield
As long as you are playing on the same Microsoft account, then your saves and Achievements will be shared between the following versions:
- Xbox Series X
- Xbox Series S
- Microsoft Store (PC)
- Steam (PC)
- Xbox Cloud Gaming (Streaming)
If you bought the Steam version of Starfield, then you won’t be able to transfer your saves or achievements to other platforms.
