I recently got a chance to play around 90 minutes of Queen’s Domain on the PlayStation 5 Pro, thanks to a review copy provided by Future Friends Games.
You can find my gameplay video below:
You can also check out my first impressions of Queen’s Domain below:
Pros:
- Hardcore difficulty.
- Thoughtful combat.
- Interconnected level design.
Cons:
- May be too hard for some.
Overall:
Queen’s Domain is a first-person action role-playing game that should remind many of the classic King’s Field game.
The main meat of the game is the stamina-based combat. As you may expect, attacks and running will deplete your stamina bar, which will leave you vulnerable when it is completely empty.
Stamina, along with how long you choose to charge up your attack, also affects your attack power. This means that every encounter requires careful planning as you have to take into account your stamina, positioning, attack animation, and more.
Outside of combat, you get to explore a mysterious and dangerous world filled with plenty of secrets. The paths are often interconnected, leading with a lot of rewarding exploration as you will unlock much needed shortcuts.
As with the King’s Field games, Queen’s Domain is incredibly hard. Dying means that you will lose all of your progress since your last manual save. After playing around 90 minutes, I only found one save spot, which means I often have to replay the same difficult section over again to get back to where I was.
If you are willing to take up the challenge, then Queen’s Domain should provide plenty of thrills with its tense combat and rewarding exploration.
