Train Yard Builder on PS5 Pro: First Impressions

I recently got a chance to play around an hour of Train Yard Builder on the PlayStation 5 Pro, thanks to a review copy provided by Ultimate Games.

You can find my gameplay video and written impressions below:

Pros:

  • Extremely detailed mini train set builder.
  • Sandbox mode lets you build freely.
  • First-person train-riding camera.

Cons:

  • User interface can be confusing in the beginning.

Overall:

Train Yard Builder is a game where you get to build your own miniature train yard. There is a wide array of tools available for deep customizations, including being able to repaint pieces as well as create small dioramas that can be copied onto other yards.

During the campaign, you can send your train yard table to competitions. You can also take on smaller quests like cleaning and repainting toy pieces, or creating a diorama.

By winning competitions and completing quests, you will earn money to purchase pieces for your train yard.

Once you are done building, you can follow the toy train around. This includes a very cool first-person point of view.

If you don’t feel like grinding for toy pieces, you can build without limit in the sandbox mode.

Overall, Toy Yard Builder offers plenty of tools and customizations those who always dream of building a toy train set but have no real financial means to do so. If you are one of these people, then you should definitely check this game out.
