Hoops & Moero!! Junior Basket Two on Two
Pros:
- Fun half-court basketball action.
- Local multiplayer support.
- Rewind and save states.

Overall:
Hoops (1989) and Moero!! Junior Basket Two on Two (1988) are half-court basketball games that first came out for the original NES.
Both games use two buttons, one of which is to pass on offense or steal on defense, while the other is to jump/shoot on offense or block on defense.
The main modes are 1 versus 1, 2 versus 2, and a three-point shooting competition. Both games really shine during 2 versus 2 as you are able to pass on offense and double team on defense. Playing 1 versus 1 against a computer can be rough as you will get the ball stolen from you often while your steal attempts are rarely successful.
For the new release, rewind and save states are available if you want to use them. Save states are especially useful as you can simply save your data instead of relying on the password system to resume your progress.
Despite being nearly 40 years old, Hoops (1989) and Moero!! Junior Basket Two on Two (1988) are still a lot of fun by today’s standards, especially if you are playing with a second player.
Racket Attack & Moero!! Pro Tennis
Pros:
- Simple yet fun tennis game.
- Multiple characters and court surfaces.
- Rewind and save states.
Cons:
- A little clunky when compared to modern tennis games.
Overall:
Racket Attack (1988) and Moero!! Pro Tennis (1988) are classic tennis games that originally came out for the original NES.
Along with using the directional pad to move around, there are two action buttons: one for volley/lobbing and the other for smashing/slicing.
The learning curve can be a bit high at first, as the swing your character takes may not be the one you intended. Fortunately, the modern releases include a rewind function, letting you undo any misplays. The game also supports save states so that you can quickly load back into the action.
Along with the single-player tournament, you can also play against another player locally.
Although somewhat clunky by today’s standards, Racket Attack and Moero!! Pro Tennis are still pretty fun once you get used to the controls.
Pro Sport Hockey & USA Ice Hockey
Pros:
- Fast-paced arcade hockey.
- NES, SNES, Japanese and English versions included.
- Rewind and save states.
Cons:
- A little clunky compared to more modern hockey games.
Overall:
Jaleco Sports: Faceoffs comes with four classic hockey games:
- Pro Sport Hockey (1993 NES North American Version)
- USA Ice Hockey (1993 NES Japanese Version)
- Pro Sport Hockey (1994 SNES North American Version)
- USA Ice Hockey (1993 SNES Japanese Version)
Although sporting simpler gameplay and lacking in features when compared to the SNES versions, the NES versions plays better, with its wide camera view and less choppy movement.
On the other hand, the SNES versions offer more teams to go along with a season mode. The gameplay also offers more depth as there is a third action game.
The emulated versions of all four games features rewind and save states. The former is really useful as you don’t have to rely on the password system to resume your progress.
Although a little bit clunk by today’s standards, Pro Sport Hockey and USA Ice Hockey are still a lot of fun to play. If you are a fan of classic hockey games, then you can pick these games up as part of the Jaleco Sports: Faceoffs collection.
