When using the Samsung Freestyle, you may notice distorted, low volume, low quality or muted sound. To see how you can potentially fix these audio issues with the portable projector, you can take a look at this guide at Seeking Tech.
1. If you are getting low or muted sound output, then the first step you can take is to make sure that you didn’t accidentally lower or muted the sound on the projector and/or external device.
2. If the external device is connected through HDMI, then make sure that the HDMI cable is compatible with the portable projector (you can see what HDMI cables are supported with this article) and is properly connected.
3. If you are connecting the external device to the projector via Bluetooth, then you can try moving the device close to the Samsung Freestyle.
You should also avoid using any other wireless devices a nearby. Furthermore, make sure that there aren’t any solid objects in between the direct line of sight of the external device and your portable projector.
4. If you are using an external listening device like a speaker, headphones or earphones, then you can use the Connection Guide to see if it was set up properly.
In order to do so, you need to take the following steps:
- Begin by pressing the home button on the Samsung remote for the Freestyle.
- Next, you should head into Menu, which has the three horizontal lines as its symbol.
- Select Connected Devices.
- You then need to select Connection Guide.
- Finally, select Audio Device.
5. If you are getting a picture but no sound when using an external device, then make sure you check the sound output settings on the external device.
If you are connecting the external device over to project via HDMI, then you need to set the sound output to HDMI in most cases.
6. You should also check the sound output settings of the Samsung Freestyle by doing the following:
- Push the home button on the remote.
- Head to Menu.
- Head to Settings, which has the gear icon as its symbol.
- Head to All Settings.
- You then need to head to Sound.
- Finally, make sure that the Sound Output is set to the correct device.
7. You can also try setting Digital Output Audio Format to Auto as it may help resolve the muted sound, especially if you are using eARC over HDMI.
To do so, you need to take the following steps:
- Press the home button on the remote.
- Go to Menu.
- You should then go to Settings.
- Go to All Settings
- Next, go to Sound.
- Go to Expert Settings
- You then need to select to Digital Output Audio Format
- Make sure that Digital Output Audio Format is set to Auto.
8. If the speaker of the projector is making an unusual noise, then you run a sound test by pressing the home button on the remote control and then going to Menu > Settings > Support > Device Care > Self Diagnosis > Sound Test.
9. You can also check the signal information by pushing the home button on the remote and then selecting Menu > Settings > Support > Device Care > Self Diagnosis > Signal Information.
10. If you are getting choppy sound by using a wireless audio output device, then it may be due to interference caused by nearby wireless devices.
If you have a Wi-Fi router close by, then you can try changing its frequency to 5 GHz to see if that will help improve the Bluetooth performance.
11. If you can’t hear the sound clearly, then you can try changing the sound mode by pressing the home button on the Samsung Smart Remote and then selecting Menu > Settings > All Settings > Sound > Sound Mode.
