When using your Samsung Galaxy S22, Samsung Galaxy S22+ or Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra, your smartphone may start to feel hot.

To see how you can prevent and fix overheating issues with these devices, you can check out this troubleshooting guide at Seeking Tech.

How to prevent Galaxy S22, S22+ and S22 Ultra from getting too hot

To prevent your Galaxy S22, Galaxy S22 Plus or Galaxy S22 Ultra from getting too hot, we recommend that you take the following precautions:

1. Do not use or store the Samsung smartphone in an environment with an extremely high temperature.

2. Do not use or store the phone in direct sunlight or near any heat sources.

3. You should also avoid using or storing the device in a high humidity environment.

4. Downloading or streaming over the internet will heat up your smartphone.

5. Recording videos for an extended length of time will also cause the internal temperature to rise.

6. Roaming, syncing data and connecting to other devices may also cause your Samsung device to overheat.

7. Intensive apps, such as video games or applications that use the location feature, will take up a lot of resources and, therefore, cause your phone to heat up.

8. Do not charge your S22, S22+ or S22 with a damaged USB cable.

9. Try not to charge and use your phone at the same time.

10. You should also try not to use multiple apps at the same time.

How to cool down an overheating Samsung Galaxy S22, S22+ and S22 Ultra

In order to cool down your Galaxy S22, Galaxy S22+ or Galaxy S22 Ultra when it gets too hot, we recommend doing the following:

1. Restart your smartphone. Doing so will close all the opened apps in addition to helping to clear out potential conflicts and other hardware resources.

2. If you are charging your phone, you may want to unplug it from the charger.

3. Deactivate the Bluetooth, GPS and/or Wi-Fi connections if you aren’t using them.

4. Update your apps to the latest available version.

5. You should also keep the firmware of your S22, S22+ or S22 updated.

6. Delete any background running apps that you don’t use.

7. Lower the screen brightness.

8. If you are in a hot or humid environment, then you can try relocating to a cooler and dry space.

9. If you don’t plan on using your phone, then you can turn it off in order to let it cool down.

What happens when Samsung Galaxy S22, S22+ and S22 Ultra overheats

If you decide to do nothing when your Samsung Galaxy S22, Samsung Galaxy S22+ or Samsung Galaxy S22 Ultra increases in temperature, then your phone will automatically send you a warning message once it gets hot enough to cause issues.

This warning will notify you of potential device failure, skin damages, skin irritations and battery usage.

The phone will also automatically close all running apps, lower the screen brightness, limit the performance speed and stop the battery from recharging. With the exception of emergency calls, your calls will be limited as well.

If the Samsung phone continues to heat up after getting the first warning message, then a second message will appear, telling you that the device will be turning off to cool down. If you are in the middle of an emergency call, however, then your phone won’t be forced to shut down.

When you phone automatically shuts down due to the internal temperature rising, do not attempt to turn it back again unless it cools down to a more manageable temperature.
