I recently got the chance to play a little bit over an hour worth of ChildStory on the PlayStation 5 Pro, thanks to a review copy provided by Stamina Zero LLC.
You can find my gameplay video of this Zelda-esque game below:
You can also check out my written impressions below:
Pros:
- Great character design.
- Atmospheric 2D pixel art.
- Classic and fun 2D Zelda gameplay.
Cons:
- Zoomed-out camera angle can sometimes make it hard to see.
Overall:
ChildStory is an action-adventure game that resembles the classic 2D Zelda games. You get to explore a winter-themed world filled with enemies and puzzles.
The visuals immediately stand out in ChildStory as the pixel art is gorgeous and adds plenty to the winter environments. The character designs are also great and distinct.
The only real negative I have is that the camera is zoomed out, which makes it hard to see sometimes when you are figuring out where to go.
With that said, ChildStory is still a pretty fun, and pretty atmospheric, Zelda-like game. You should definitely check it out if you are into this genre.
