How to fix battery drain issues with Samsung Galaxy Tab A8

When using the Samsung Galaxy Tab A8, you may notice that the battery life for the tablet may be depleting faster than your expectations.

To see how you can fix battery drain issues with the A8, you can take a look at this tutorial from Seeking Tech.

1. To improve the battery life of your tablet, you can try closing apps that you aren’t currently using.

Apps that take up a lot of resources, such as videogames and those that require the Bluetooth connection, will use up more battery. Therefore, you should focus on closing these applications.

2. You should also close any background apps that aren’t necessary.

3. Furthermore, you can uninstall any apps that you don’t plan on using in the near future.

4. Disable the Bluetooth and Wi-Fi connections if you aren’t using them.

5. We also recommend that you disable auto-syncing features for apps that you don’t use very often.

6. If you aren’t using the tablet, then we recommend that you can turn off the screen by pressing the Side key.

7. You can also set a screen timeout that will turn off the screen of the Samsung Galaxy Tab A8 after some time have passed with no activity.

In order to do so, you first need to open the Settings app from the home screen. If you can’t find it, then you can open a list of installed applications by swiping upwards from the bottom of the home screen.

Inside Settings, select Display and then “Screen timeout.” Finally, set the time (the shorter times are better if you want to save on battery life).

8. You can also manually lower the screen brightness.

The fastest way to do so with the Galaxy Tab A8 is to swipe downwards from the top of the screen to open the Notification Panel. With the Notification Panel opened, swipe downwards again to view the expanded version that contains the brightness meter at the bottom of the menu.

To decrease brightness for the screen, move the meter towards the left.

9. You can also enable adaptive brightness, which will automatically adjust the brightness level depending on your previous manual adjustments in different ambient lighting conditions.

To enable this feature, open the Settings app. Next, select Display and Adaptive Brightness.

10. Restarting the Galaxy Tab A8 may help improve its battery life as doing so will remove any potential conflicts and/or lingering processes.

11. You can also use the optimize now feature to improve the battery life of your tablet as it will close any apps running in the background and manage any abnormal battery usage.

To do so, go to Settings. You then need to select Battery and Device Care and then Optimize Now.

12. Moreover, you can enable automatic daily optimization by going to Settings > Battery and Device Care > Optimize Now.

Next, tap the icon with the three vertical dots and then select Automation > Auto Optimise Daily.

Finally, you need to make sure that the switch is set to enabled and set the time for the optimization if you have a preference.

13. Another fix is to use the battery saving mode by opening the Settings app and then heading to Battery and Device Care > Battery. Next, enable the power saving mode.

In the same menu, you can also set background usage limits for apps in addition to using more advanced battery settings.

14. Keep in mind that the internal battery will lose its maximum charging capacity over time. To slow down this process, you can take the following precautions:

  • Use a Samsung branded USB charging cable and charger.
  • Avoid charging the Samsung Galaxy Tab A8 if it is wet.
  • We recommend keeping the battery life between the range 20% to 80%. Having very little or being nearly full will stress out the internal battery of your tablet.
  • Avoid overheating the A8 when using the tablet, recharging it or doing both at the same time. To find out how you can prevent and fix overheating issues with this Samsung device, you can check out this guide.
