Ayasa: Shadows of Silence on PS5 Pro – First Impressions

I recently got a chance to play around an hour of Ayasa: Shadows of Silence on the PlayStation 5 Pro, thanks to a review copy provided by Critical Hit PR.

You can find my gameplay video below:

You can also find my first impressions of Ayasa below:

Pros:

  • Atmospheric.
  • Nice variety of creepy environments.
  • Special powers keep gameplay fresh.

Cons:

  • Camera issues.

Overall:

Ayasa: Shadows of Silence is a 2.5D side-scroller with some horror elements.

You get to explore a nice variety of creepy and disturbing environments, solving puzzles, and running away from enemies. The game is very atmospheric as the backgrounds are full of life that often tells a story.

While you mostly run and jump for a vast majority of the time in Ayasa, you can unlock some useful abilities later like being able to turn invisible. These additions keep the gameplay fresh and varied.

The only major issue with the game is the camera, which you can’t move around. Instead, it follows you wherever you go, creating awkward angles that make jumping a nightmare. Not to mention the camera can get stuck, which often force me to restart from the checkpoint.

If you don’t mind the camera, then Ayasa: Shadows of Silence is a fun 2.5D horror-themed side scroller. If you are a fan of Inside, Limbo, and/or Little Nightmares, then you should give this game a shot.
