Titanium Court on PS5 Pro: First Impressions

I recently got to play around 90 minutes of Titanium Court on the PlayStation 5 Pro, thanks to a review copy provided by Double Jump Communications.

You can check out my gameplay video below:

You can also find my first impressions of Titanium Court below:

Pros:

  • Quirky humor and presentation.
  • Unique mix of match puzzles with real-time strategy.
  • Lots of mechanics that add depth to the gameplay.

Cons:

  • None.

Overall:

Titanium Court mixes Match 3 puzzles with real-time strategy.

During the high tide phase, you have several goals. The first is to eliminate any enemy court by matching at least three of them vertical or horizontally. You can also do the same for environmental tiles to gain resources.

Just as important, you also need to make sure your court is put into good defensive positions. For example, water will act as moats to prevent foot soldiers from attacking. Hills will also slow down foot soldiers and will act as a shield against catapults.

Once you run out of turns during the high tide phase, you will enter the low tide phase. At this point, the game switches over to a light real-time strategy game where you can send out units to farm for resources and attack enemy courts. If shops are available, you can also purchase items that will help you on your fight for survival.

Whether or not you succeed in your expedition, you will also return to your court. From there, you will be able to advance the story as well as gain certain bonuses that you can use in battle.

Titanium Court has a bunch of other mechanics that are constantly being introduced to the players, whether if its the ability to change jobs or new enemy types that change your strategy. Even after playing for 90 minutes, the game was still introducing a lot of the elements.

Aside from the gameplay, Titanium Court provides a rather quirky and whimsical presentation that is somewhat akin to a medieval play, which gives it a very unique look and feel.

Overall, Titanium Court is a fun mix of Match 3 puzzles with some light RTS elements. If you are looking for something fresh and unique to play, then make sure to check this game out.
