The Transference on PS5 Pro: First Impressions

I recently got to play around an hour of The Transference on the PlayStation 5 Pro, thanks to a review copy provided by JanduSoft.

You can find my gameplay video below:

Pros:

  • Creepy and unsettling atmosphere.
  • Tricky and thought-provoking puzzles.
  • Customizable monster encounter rate.

Cons:

  • 30 fps.

Overall:

The Transference is an escape room horror game where you solve puzzles while hiding from a stalker.

The escape room is actually the house you are living in that ended up being mysterious “remodeled” with a wide array of blocked paths as well as complicated puzzles.

Some of the puzzles require you to pay attention to the environment while others will test your comprehensive skills.

Eventually, a stalker monster will show up who will chase you down if you don’t run away and find a hiding space. The extra tension adds a lot of urgency to solve puzzles and escape.

If you find the addition of the stalker enemies to be too scary and/or unforgiving, then you can reduce the encounter rate to limit its appearances to story events.

The only real negative to the game is that it only runs at a 30 fps cap. Thankfully, your eyes will eventually get used to that frame rate. Not to mention that the game doesn’t really requires precision when it comes to controller inputs.

If you don’t mind the 30 fps limit, then The Transference is a creepy and intense escape room survivor horror with a lot of challenging but rewarding puzzles to solve. Make sure to check it out.
