BirdCage on PS5 Pro: Mini Review

I recently got a chance to play through BirdCage on the PlayStation 5 Pro, thanks to a review copy provided by eastasiasoft.

You can find my gameplay video below:

You can also find my mini review for BirdCage below:

Pros:

  • Intense bullet hell.
  • 2.5D retro visual style and presentation.
  • Multiple difficulty settings.

Cons:

  • None.

Overall:

Birdcage is a vertical scrolling shoot ’em up with a retro visual style that resembles what you see from PS1 and Sega Saturn Shmups. Not to mention that the story mode also features codec-style conversations that are heavily influenced by Metal Gear Solid.

Along with your standard attack, you get to use a sword to swing at nearby enemies or send it flying in any direction. The six stages, especially the boss fights, can get really intense with bullets littering the entire screen.

Luckily, you have multiple difficulty settings to choose from. Not to mention that there is also an Arcade and Time Attack mode available to go along with the Story mode. So, you can expect to get plenty of replay value.

Overall, Birdcage is a fun and intense vertical shoot ’em ups. If you are a fan of bullet hells, then you should definitely give this game a shot as well.
