Viking Frontiers on PS5 Pro: First Impressions

I recently got a chance to play around an hour of Viking Frontiers on the PlayStation 5 Pro, thanks to a review copy provided by PlayWay.

You can find my gameplay below:

Pros:

  • Great graphics.
  • Tons of survival and simulation elements.

Cons:

  • Steep learning curve.

Overall:

Viking Frontiers is a survival and simulation game where your goal is to build a settlement for your clan.

In terms of survival, you need to eat, drink, sleep and stay health. To eat, you can hunt or scavenge. To drink, you can use the ocean water and boil it at a campfire. In order to sleep, you need to build a house.

Once you start building your settlements, there are several types of buildings that you can create. Of course, you also need to worry about your clan members.

As you can see, Viking Frontiers has a ton of survival and simulation elements. I only got to build several buildings in one hour. I barely touched the skills, technology, and management elements. So, you can expect a long and expansive game.

The only real issue I encounter so far is the steep learning curve since it took me a while to tell each weapon apart and what they are used for. It also took me some time to realize I need to use a hammer to see what crafting items I need when building a structure.

If you don’t mind the steep learning curve, then Viking Frontiers is a fun survival game with a ton of depth and great graphics to boot.
