What’s the difference between the eero 6, eero 6+, eero Pro 6 and eero Pro 6E?

Amazon recently released the eero 6+ and eero Pro 6E. So, how do these mesh Wi-Fi 6 routers compare to the older eero 6 as well as the eero Pro 6?

You can find out in this comparison article at Seeking Tech.

Quick Summary

The Pro 6E is the only eero Wi-Fi 6 mesh router that supports the 6 GHz frequency, which offers the best speeds. In order to take advantage of this feature, however, you will need to connect a device that supports Wi-Fi 6E.

If you don’t have Wi-Fi 6E devices, then the eero Pro 6 offers the next fastest option with its tri-band design.

While both the eero 6 and eero 6+ are dual-band routers, the Plus version should be much faster when compared to the normal model.

Radios

When it comes to the number of radios, the 6 and 6+ models are dual-bands as each of them use two radios. The Pro 6 and Pro 6E models are tri-bands as each of these use three radios.

Radio Frequencies

The new Pro 6E is the only one in the eero Wi-Fi 6 router product line to support the 6 GHz frequency. With that said, the connected device also needs to support Wi-Fi 6E in order to take advantage increased speeds when using the 6 GHz frequency.

You can find a breakdown of the supported frequencies below:

eero 6:

  • 2×2 2.4 GHz
  • 2×2 5 GHz

eero 6+:

  • 2×2 2.4 GHz
  • 2×2 5 GHz

eero Pro 6:

  • 2×2 2.4 GHz
  • 2×2 5 GHz
  • 4×4 5 GHz

eero Pro 6E:

  • 2×2 2.4 GHz
  • 2×2 5 GHz
  • 2×2 6 GHz

AX Speed Rating

When it comes to the combined speeds over Wi-Fi 6, the eero Pro 6E has the highest bandwidth throughput, followed by the eero Pro 6 and then eero 6+. The regular eero 6 has the lowest bandwidth throughput.
