To see how you can prevent and fix overheating issues with these Wi-Fi 6 routers, you can take a look at this article from Seeking Tech.

How to prevent eero 6, eero 6+, eero Pro 6 and eero Pro 6E overheating issues

In order to prevent overheating issues with your eero 6, eero 6+, eero Pro 6 or eero Pro 6E, you can try taking the following steps:

1. Avoid putting your router in an enclosed space such as inside the cabinet. Instead, give the device plenty of open air so that the heat will easily dissipate.

2. You should also avoid putting your eero on top of another operating device as the heat generated from the other device will go through the bottom of the router.

3. Do not cover the eero with a cloth or any other objects. Otherwise, the internal heat will have a hard time dissipating.

4. Your eero 6, eero 6+, eero Pro 6 or eero Pro 6E needs open air at the bottom side to help with cooling off. Therefore, you should avoid putting it on a bed, cushion or any other areas with a soft surface that will end up trapping the heat.

5. Avoid exposing your router to direct sunlight.

6. You should also avoid putting the eero near the heater, fireplace or any other places in your home that produce heat.

7. eero recommends that you use the power adapter that came with your router as another adapter may not be fully compatible, leading to potential overheating issues.

How to fix eero 6, eero 6+, eero Pro 6 and eero Pro 6E overheating issues

If you think that your eero 6, eero 6+, eero Pro 6 or eero Pro 6E is overheating, then you can try doing the following:

1. Unplug the Wi-Fi 6 router from the power outlet.

2. You then may want to reposition the device to ensure it gets plenty of open-air space. Make sure you avoid putting it in direct sunlight or near any heat sources.

3. After waiting for the router to cool down, you can plug it back into the power outlet.

4. After the device has been restarted, we recommend that you check its temperature occasionally to make sure that it doesn’t get as hot as before.

5. If your eero 6, eero 6+, eero Pro 6 or eero Pro 6E are still overheating even after taking all of our suggested actions, then you may have a damaged or defective unit.

If your device are still under warranty, then you can try contacting the eero support team about getting your router repaired or replaced.

To learn more about how you can fix slow internet speeds when using these Wi-Fi 6 routers, you can check out this troubleshooting guide. If you can’t update your eero 6, eero 6+, eero Pro 6 or eero Pro 6E to the latest software version, then you can check out this post.

How to fix slow internet speeds with the eero 6, eero 6+, eero Pro 6 and eero Pro 6E

You may experience slower than expected internet speed when using the eero 6, eero 6+, eero Pro 6 or eero Pro 6E. To see how you can make these Wi-Fi 6 routers faster, you can take a look at this troubleshooting article from Seeking Tech.

1. The first step we recommend taking is to try using a different device, switching to a different app and looking at a different website.

If switching to another activity managed to bring your internet speed back to normal, then the slow speeds may not be related to your router at all. Instead, a service outage may have occurred on the app or website you are using.

If the slow internet speed is only happening on a specific device, then we recommend turning off its internet connection and then turn it back on again. You can also try rebooting the device in addition to making sure that the internet connection between it and your eero router is properly set up.

2. If the internet speed is slow across multiple apps, devices and/or websites, then the next step you can try is to power cycle your eero Wi-Fi 6 router by taking the following steps:

  • Unplug the power cable from the back of your router.
  • Wait of at least 30 seconds.
  • Plug the power cable back into your router.
  • The LED light of your eero 6, eero 6+, eero Pro 6 or eero Pro 6E should turn solid white before blinking white during the boot up process.
  • Once the LED goes solid white again, then the power cycling process has been completed.

3. You can also try power cycling your modem by doing the following:

  • Unplug the power cable from your modem.
  • You then need to wait for at least 30 seconds.
  • Plug the power right back into your modem.
  • Wait until the modem complete its boot up process. This may end up taking several minutes.

4. If your eero router is connected to a different router or a modem/router hybrid, then you have a double NAT issue where your internet speed would end up being slower than expected.

If your eero router is connected to another router before it is connected to the modem, then we recommend that you remove the other router from the connection. By doing so, your eero router should be connected directly to your modem.

If your eero router is connected to a modem/router hybrid device, then you need to enable bridge mode on the hybrid. In order to do so, please refer to the user manual of the modem/router device. By using bridge mode, you will disable Wi-Fi on the hybrid networking device, which may end up speeding up your internet connection.

5. You can also make sure that your Internet Service Provider is suffering from any downtime and/or other connection issues. You can try contacting your ISP if the slow internet persists.

If you don’t think the ISP is the problem, and have tried everything else in this guide, then we recommend contacting the eero support team for additional support.

How to fix firmware update issues with the eero 6+ and eero Pro 6E

When trying to update the firmware of your eero 6+ or eero Pro 6E, the process may take longer than what you may expected. The update may even fail.

To see how you can fix these problems, you can take a look at this troubleshooting guide from Seeking Tech.

1. If you can afford to be patient, then the first step we recommend taking is to simply wait for the firmware update to complete if it is still ongoing.

You can let the device try to update overnight, when you go to school, when you need to work or when you have to run errands.

2. If the firmware update keeps failing, then you can try power cycling your modem and eero 6+ or eero Pro 6E. By doing so, you should reset your internet connection that may help speed up the process.

To power cycle, unplug the devices from the power outlets. Make sure you don’t unplug your eero 6+ or eero Pro 6E while the update is still in progress. Instead, we recommend waiting until the update fails before you continue.

3. You can also try changing the Wi-Fi name in the eero App. By doing so, you will disconnect the eero network, which may end up speeding up the update process.

In order to do so, you need to take the following steps:

  • Before we begin, make sure you already installed and set up the eero App on your smartphone or mobile device. You can find the application on the Google Play Store if you have an Android device, Apple App store if you have an Apple device and Amazon app store if you have an Amazon device.
  • To start off, open the eero App on your smartphone or mobile device.
  • Next, you need to make sure that you are logged into your eero account.
  • From the first page of the application, tap Settings.
  • You then need to tap the “Wifi name” option.
  • Change the Wi-Fi name to something that you haven’t used before.
  • Tap the Save option. This will disconnect the devices in your eero network.
  • Go back to the Settings menu in the eero App.
  • This time, you need to tap the “Software updates” option.
  • If the firmware update isn’t already in progress, then you need to tap the download option to start it.
  • Once the eero 6+ or eero Pro 6E has been updated to the latest software version, go back to the Settings menu of the application.
  • From Settings, tap the “Wifi name” option.
  • Change the Wi-Fi name to what it was previously.

Once you updated the firmware, future software updates for your eero 6+ or eero Pro 6E should go through more smoothly.

If you are still experiencing firmware update issues after trying all of the aforementioned steps, then we recommend contacting eero in order to get additional support. You might also want to consider contacting your internet service provider (also known as ISP) as the software update problems may be due to an unstable internet connection coming into your home.
