Dimensions

When it comes to the physical size, the SanDisk Extreme Portable Version 2 is smaller all around, which should make it a little easier to transport, when compared to the SanDisk Extreme Pro Portable Version 1.

Connector

The Extreme Portable SSD V2 and Extreme Pro Portable SSD V1 use the same USB-C connector.

With that said, the two products come with the aforementioned USB-C to USB-A adaptor. As a result, you will be able to connect both storage drives to another device using either the USB-A or USB-C port.

Interface

The interface can be a little confusing due to the naming of USB versions.

The second version of the SanDisk Extreme Portable Solid State Drive uses USB 3.2 Gen 2 while the first generation of the SanDisk Extreme Pro Portable Solid State Drive uses USB 3.1 Gen 2.

However, the USB 3.2 Gen 2 is actually the updated name for USB 3.1 Gen 2. Both of these interfaces have a transfer speed of up to 10 Gbit per second.

Maximum Sequential Read Speed

The Extreme Portable SSD V2 and Extreme Pro Portable SSD V1 have the same maximum sequential reading speeds as both can get up to 1050 MB per second.

Operating Temperature

The two external solid state drives in this versus showdown have the same recommended operating temperature range at 0°C to 45°C.

Storage Temperature

When it comes to non-operation, you can store the Extreme Portable V2 is hotter temperatures than the Extreme Pro Portable V1.
