The HP 206X High Yield Black Original LaserJet Toner Cartridge is capable of printing over twice as many pages as the HP 206A Black Original LaserJet Toner Cartridge.
The HP 206X High Yield Cyan, HP 206X High Yield Magenta and HP 206X High Yield Yellow can also print nearly two times as many pages when compared to the HP 206A Cyan, HP 206A Magenta and HP 206A Yellow.
So, while you have to pay more upfront, the high yield X versions will last much longer when to the normal A versions.
The HP 206A and HP 206X have the same operating temperature range, storage temperature range, operating humidity range, storage humidity range and warranty coverage.

Page Yield
Page yield is the measurement of the capacity for a HP 206 toner cartridge in terms of the number of pages it is capable of printing out before it empties out and needs to be replaced.
Based on the internal testing done by HP, the HP 206X has a major advantage over the HP 206A.
The HP 206X High Yield Black Original LaserJet Toner Cartridge has a yield that is 2000 pages more than the HP 206A Black Original LaserJet Toner Cartridge.
In terms of percentages, the high yield version has a 133.33% yield advantage over the normal version of the black cartridge.
The HP 206X High Yield Cyan Original LaserJet Toner Cartridge also has an output that is 1200 pages more than the HP 206A Cyan Original LaserJet Toner Cartridge.
Furthermore, the HP 206X High Yield Magenta Original LaserJet Toner Cartridge can print out 1200 more pages than the HP 206A Magenta Original LaserJet Toner Cartridge.
Finally, the HP 206X High Yield Yellow Original LaserJet Toner Cartridge has a yield that is 1200 pages more than the HP 206A Yellow Original LaserJet Toner Cartridge.
In terms of percentages, the X versions of the Cyan, Magenta and Yellow cartridges have a 96% yield advantage over the A versions.
