Recommended gaming settings for LG B5, C5 and G5

This Seeking Tech article will reveal the best settings to use when it comes to playing your Nintendo Switch 2, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 5 Pro, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S and/or other gaming consoles. 

Model Numbers

The guide should be relevant to the following television models:

HDMI Connection 

Make sure you use a HDMI cable that was included with your console to connect it to any of the HDMI ports of your B5, C5 or G5.  

LG B5, C5 and G5 Settings for Gaming Consoles

On your television set, make sure you do the following: 

  1. Enable Game Optimizer 
  2. Set Prevent Input Delay to Boost  
  3. Enable 4:4:4 Passthrough 
  4. Set Dynamic Tone Mapping to HGiG 
  5. Set Energy Saving Step to Off 
  6. Set ALLM to On 
  7. Set VRR & G-Sync to On 
  8. Set AMD Premium FreeSync to On 
  9. Set Video Range to Auto 
  10. Set Gamma (Adjust Brightness) to 2.2  
  11. Set Super Resolution to Off 

PS5 and PS5 Pro settings for LG B5, C5 and G5 

On the PS5, make sure you have the following settings in the system menus: 

  • Set Resolution to 2160p  
  • Set HDR to On When Supported 
  • Set VRR to Automatic, and then set Apply to Unsupported Games to On. Note: If the latter setting is causing issues, then you can disable Apply to Unsupported Games. 
  • Set 120 Hz Output to Automatic 
  • Set ALLM to Automatic 
  • Set 4K Transfer Rate to Automatic 
  • Set Deep Color Output to Automatic 
  • Set RGB Range to Automatic 
  • PS5 Pro Only: Set Enhance Image Quality for PS4 Games to On. Note: If you experience any issues when playing PS4 games on the PS5 Pro, you can set this to Off instead.  
  • When it comes to using the Adjust HDR setup, adjust the brightness of the first two screens until the symbol is barely visible. Afterwards, increase the brightness one more time. For the third screen, lower the brightness to the minimum. You can check out the video below to explain why this is the best method:

  • It should also be noted that some games have an adjusting brightness setting. So, make sure you follow the instructions there as well. 

Xbox Serie X and Xbox Series S settings for LG B5, C5 and G5 

On the Xbox Series X and S, you need to do the following in the system menus: 

  • Set Resolution to 4K UHD 
  • Set Refresh Rate to 120 Hz 
  • Enable Allow auto-low latency mode 
  • Set Variable refresh rate to Gaming Only 
  • Enable Allow variable refresh rate 
  • Enable Allow 4K 
  • Enable Allow HDR10 
  • Enable Allow Dolby Vision 
  • Disable Dolby Vision for Gaming. Note: You can turn this on if you are playing a game that natively supports Dolby Vision to see if you prefer it over HDR10. 
  • For the Calibrate HDR for Games setup, follow the instructions on the screen. 
  • Every time you play a game for the first time, you should make sure you follow the instructions to adjust the in-game brightness setting if there are any.

Nintendo Switch 2 settings for LG B5, C5 and G5

If you are connecting a Nintendo Switch 2, you should do the following: 

  • Set Console’s Screen HDR Output to On 
  • Set TV Resolution to Automatic  
  • Set RGB Range to Automatic 
  • Set 120Hz Output to On 
  • Set Auto Low-Latency Mode (ALLM) to On 
  • Set HDR Output to Compatible Software Only
  • For the Adjust HDR setting, follow the instructions on the first screen. On the second screen, you can leave it at default. If you find the HDR picture to be too washed out, then you can try moving the slider on the second screen with 5 clicks (starting from the left).
