I recently got a chance to play through Justice Ninja Casey, thanks to a review code provided by Ratalaika Games. You can find my platinum trophy playthrough below:
Trophy tips:
- I used the Infinite Energy and Invincibility cheats. You can also use the One Hit Kill cheat if you want.
- You can also speed up the action by holding R2. You can even change the fast forward speed in the emulation menu.
- While there aren’t any missable trophies, some rooms are well hidden. Create a manual save before the final boss just in case.
You can find my impressions of this game below:
Pros:
- Released outside of Japan for the first time.
- Quality of life features added.
- Quest Mode features open-ended exploration.
Cons:
- Slowdowns.
Overall:
Justice Ninja Casey is a beat-em-up game set in Fedual Japan, similar in vein to the classic The Legend of the Mystical Ninja.
In Quest Mode, you can go in any direction you want when exploring the region. The game offers a lot of secrets that reward you for being curious.
The combat feels a little bit stiff at first, but you should get used to it eventually. Once you start using your jumping attacks and ninjitsu abilities, the fights can be quite fun, especially with cheats enabled.
Thankfully, the game comes with cheats that makes the experience a lot more fun and accessible. There are also rewind, save states and fast forward Quality of Life features.
The only negative is the slowdowns when there are a lot of objects on the screen. Playing on the PlayStation 5 Pro does not help with the frame rate at all.
Even with the slowdowns, Justice Ninja Casey is a great classic beat ‘em up game. Thanks to Ratalaika Games, it has been localized in English for the first time.
