The Ring Glass Break Sensor is designed to sense glass breaking in your home. If you believe that the device isn’t detecting this activity properly, then you can take a look at this troubleshooting guide from Seeking Tech.
1. The first step we recommend taking is to make sure that your Ring Glass Break Sensor is properly connected to your Ring Base Station as the LED light on the sensor should be flashing a single green light.
To see how you can fix connection issues between these security devices, you can take a look at this article.
2. You should also make sure that you position the Ring Glass Break Sensor correctly. Ideally, the sensor should be within 25 feet of your glass doors and windows. It is also recommended that you place the device 7 feet off the ground.
3. The aforementioned 25 feet range is the maximum. That range could be shortened due to factors such as objects blocking the sensor. Other nearby devices may also interfere with the detection or wireless communication between the Ring Glass Break Sensor and Ring Base Station.
4. On the Ring App, make sure that the entire Ring System hasn’t been disarmed.
5. While you are using the Ring App, you should also make sure that the entire Ring System is set to the “Armed and Monitored Mode” if you are using the “Power Save Mode” for your Ring Glass Break Sensor. Otherwise, the sensor won’t be able to detect any glass breaking.
6. The Ring Glass Break Sensor may malfunction in extreme temperatures. For this device, Ring recommends a temperature range of 32°F to 120°F (or 0°C to 49°C).
7. Furthermore, you should also make sure that the batteries are interested correctly and is powering the sensor.
If you need to replace the batteries, you can take a look at this article.
If none of the aforementioned potential solutions help with fixing the detection problems, then we recommend contacting Ring for additional support.
