How to change character and weapon appearances in Final Fantasy XVI

Thanks to a new update, you are now able to change how your party weapons and weapons look in Final Fantasy XVI. To see how you can modify appearances, you can take a look at this tutorial from Seeking Tech.

1. For the first step, make sure that you downloaded the latest patch as this feature was added through a title update.

To manually update the game, highlight the Final Fantasy 16 icon from the home screen on the PS5 and then press the Options button on the DualSense controller. Afterwards, press the Options button and then select Check for Update.

2. After downloading the update, you should see a message appear on the main menu saying that the Appearance feature has been added to the game.

3. Once you load into your game, you need to head over to the Arete Stone in your hideaway.

Depending on where you are in the story, you may not have access to this stone. So, you may have to go through the main campaign, even if you are playing in the New Game Plus mode, before you can change your character’s appearance.

4. From the Arete Stone menu, you should be able to find and select the Appearance option.

5. In the next screen, you will be able to change the look for Clive as well as his animal and human companions.

6. If you press R1, you will be able to switch to the Weapons tab. From there, you can change the look for Clive’s sword.

Keep in mind that in cut scenes that are either pre-rendered or require extra loading, the character and weapon appearances will not be altered.
