I recently got a chance to play Ex-Master, Zombie on the PlayStation 5 Pro, thanks to a review copy provided by Brainium Games.
You can check out my gameplay video below:
You can also check out my first impressions of Ex-Master Zombie below:
Pros:
- Responsive platforming controls.
- Metroidvania level design.
Cons:
- Lack of checkpoints.
Overall:
Ex-Master, Zombie is a platforming Metroidvania.
You start out with nothing but a rolling head. Fortunately, you will soon gain back your body, allowing you to jump.
Being a platforming game, controls are especially crucial and Ex-Master, Zombie was able to deliver with responsive inputs and perfect physics.
As you further explore through the levels, you will find some inaccessible areas that you can eventually get to when you learn abilities. It is quite fun when you find a new ability that lets you go to a previously blocked locations.
The only major drawback to the game is the lack of checkpoints. Because of this, you have to play through a large section again just to get to the point of where you die. This can make the experience tedious and frustrating.
If you don’t mind the overly long run backs, then Ex-Master, Zombie is a fun Metroidvania platformer worth playing.
