I recently got a chance to try out Dr. Psycho Hospital Escape 2 on a PlayStation 5 Pro, thanks to a review code provided by Upscale Studio. You can find my gameplay video and written impressions below:
Pros:
- Intense roguelike survivor horror.
- More complex compared to the first game.
Cons:
- Some glitches.
Overall:
Like the first game, Dr. Psycho: Hospital Escape 2 is a first-person roguelike survivor horror where you have a limited amount of lives to try to escape from a hospital with stalker enemies.
Unlike the prequel, the sequel is slightly more complex. You definitely need to do more backtracking and memorize the layout of the map. In fact, I couldn’t finish Dr. Psycho: Hospital Escape 2 even in practice mode.
Unfortunately, the sequel also appears to be buggier than the first. For instance, the progress I made in practice mode carried over to the normal mode. In another scenario not shown in the video, I ended up getting stuck with the doctor himself inside a bathroom stall with no way of dying or escaping.
Hopefully, these glitches get patched up as Dr. Psycho: Hospital Escape 2 is otherwise a pretty fun roguelike survivor horror if you like these kinds of games.
