I recently got to play Alien Cat 2 – Retro Collection, thanks to a review copy provided by Ratalaika Games.
You can find my gameplay video, which shows how to unlock the platinum trophy, below:
Trophy tips:
- To get the platinum trophy, you simply need to complete the first 20 levels.
- You can rewind with L2 in case you mess up.
- Even with the rewind feature, there may be times where you are better off dying in order to restart the stage so that you can tackle it from a completely different angle.
- To create a manual save, press L1 and R1 at the same time to bring up the emulation menu. From there, select Save State and then a save slot.
You can find my impressions of this game below:
Pros:
- Fun puzzles where you control multiple characters at the same time.
- Multiple versions available in collection.
- Rewind and save states.
Cons:
- None.
Overall:
Alien Cat 2 – Retro Collection is a puzzle game where you have to control a cat and its clones in order to recover space ship parts. The cat and its clones will all move at the same time. To desynchorize, you have to get someone stuck to a wall.
The puzzles in the game are quite fun to navigate as there is no singular solution. The rewind function of the emulator is also extremely helpful in case you make a mistake and don’t want to start the stage all over again.
While Alien Cat 2 uses a password system, you can use the emulator menu to create a save state.
The collection comes with four versions of Alien Cat 2, which I think is the NES, Super NES, Sega Master System and Sega Genesis releases.
If you are a fan of puzzle games that pay homage to 8-bit and 16-bit era, then you should definitely check out Alien Cat 2 – Retro Collection.
