When compared to the SanDisk Extreme Pro Portable V1, the SanDisk Extreme Pro Portable V2 is nearly two times faster at maximum sequential reads. The second-generation also uses an USB interface that is two times faster than the original in addition to having better password protection.

Last but not least, the Extreme Pro Portable V2 is the only one of the two to offer a 4 TB capacity option.

The first and second generations of the SanDisk Extreme Pro Portable are identical when it comes to physical size.

Both of the external storage drives are built with a forged aluminum body, which is designed to act as a heat sink in addition to providing protection to the inner core.

Connector

Both the SanDisk Extreme Pro Portable SSD V1 and V2 use the USB Type-C connector.

When it comes to the interface, the Extreme Pro Portable SSD Version 1 uses USB 3.1 Gen 2, which has a bandwidth of 10 Gbps.

Maximum Sequential Read Speed

The second generation of the SanDisk Extreme Pro Portable is 950 MB per second faster, or 90.48% faster, than the original SanDisk Extreme Pro Portable when it comes to maximum sequential reading.

Password Protection

When it comes to password protection, the older model uses 128-bit AES encryption while the newer model uses 256-bit AES encryption.

As a result, the SanDisk Extreme Pro Portable SSD V2 is more secured when compared to the SanDisk Extreme Pro Portable SSD V1.

Dust and Water Resistance

The two solid state drives in this versus guide have a dust and water resistance rating of IP55.

For dust protection, the two SSDs are protected against dust particles that may cause harm. With that said, these devices aren’t completely dust tight.
