The Walking Trade on PS5 Pro: First Impressions

I recently got a chance to play around an hour of The Walking Trade on the PlayStation 5 Pro, thanks to a review copy provided by PlayWay S.A.

You can find my gameplay video below:

You can also check out my first impressions of The Walking Trade below:

Pros:

  • Fun mix of store simulator with zombie survival.
  • Customizable difficulty settings.

Cons:

  • Controls can be a little cumbersome.

Overall:

In The Walking Trade, your goal is to run a store during the middle of a zombie apocalypse.

As you may expect, things can get chaotic as customers and zombies will often visit your store. You often end the day with bodies of both piled up inside and outside of your shop.

In order to make a living, you have to trade anything you can scavenge for batteries, which acts as currency. To scavenge, you can search bodies, look for sellable items from right outside your store, and hire employees to go to faraway places.

You can also upgrade your shop by unlocking new sections and crafting new furniture.

If you find that the action is too much to handle, then there are multiple difficulty options, such as making the daytime longer as well as reducing the zombie spawn rate. Of course, you can also increase these to make the game even more chaotic.

The only real negative is that the controls can be a little too cumbersome. For example, you aren’t able to do simple tasks like opening a door if you have a weapon equipped. You have to switch to your free hand every time.

Outside of that, The Walking Trade offers a fun take on the shop simulator genre. If you are a fan of these games, then make sure to check this one out.
