I recently got a chance to play around 90 minutes of Next of Kin: Epiphany on the PlayStation 5 Pro, thanks to a review copy provided by Spelkvall Games.

You can find my gameplay video below:

You can also find my first impressions for Next of Kin: Epiphany below:

Pros:

  • Engrossing crime story.
  • Expose mechanic.
  • Brisk pacing.

Cons:

  • None.

Overall:

Next of Kin: Epiphany is a detective game with 16-bit pixel visuals. As a private investigator, your main goal is to look for the Epiphany Killer who have been on the loose for many years.

During your pursuit, you will encounter smaller cases. In order to do so, you have to look for evidence and interview witnesses. Once you gather all you need, you can expose witnesses who lie during their testimony. Eventually, you get to piece together everything that happened.

The smaller cases are pretty short and are tied to the overall narrative surrounding the Epiphany Killer. As a result, the game moves at a quick pace with new revelations keeping you interested and motivated.

Overall, Next of Kin: Epiphany is a fun and compelling detective game. If you are into crime investigations, then this game should be right up your alley.
